Continuation Part Seven: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

I don't believe her. It's not that I have blind faith in police. It's because I do not find her credible.
Liars lie.

RS created an elaborate lie, in a letter, to his father ..putting Meredith's blood on that knife.

He stated Amanda convinced him of putting forth a load of rubbish..only to flip flop again later.

It's fine that you don't believe her and yes, liars lie. But if you get outside the interrogation, there are no lies. I've read her statement from that night and it makes little sense.

It also doesn't make sense that Amanda committed a murder with guy she can barely communicate with and didn't really know. It also doesn't make sense that Raffaele would kill a woman that he has known for a couple of hours with a guy that he's never even met.

And if you can't understand Raffaele trying to explain why the police think that Meredith's DNA on that knife then you're not a very smart guy. I also don't understand why this cooking knife would have ever been transported to the cottage unless it was a premeditated murder.

Are you saying that this was premeditated? Seriously?

I beg to differ. It's not common. It's actually rather rare.

I recall a case where a man falsely confessed to killing his own young daughter and her friend.

Cases where the police get a false confession and then pressure the person to implicate somebody else, they tend to get innocent people implicated. There are likely dozens more I could find in a few minutes. The police wanted a black male to blame so they forced her into implicated the black male she knew. People tend to, unfortunately, implicate people they know.

Every square inch wasn't tested.

I believe RS left a trace on that clasp.

Why is there no trace of Rudy in the room he allegedly entered into? None on the window sill or frame.

It's always fascinating to me how guilters want to change the topic when it's pointed out there is no trace of Knox or Sollecito in Meredith's room. Now the excuse is that not every square inch was tested.

Great! I guess this means the cops purposely missed all the forensics pointing to the two, and only collected the forensics pointing to Rudy.

I am not sure you appreciate you just conceded that only Rudy's presence was found in and on the victim, her purse...

... but somehow you can still muster a belief that the two kids were involved.

Good for you.

I know this is an older post but wanted to respond to this

I was leaving a Walmart parking lot. There was a figure just laying on the ground next to the exit. People would drive by and not worry.

I have no clue how long he had been there.

I did pull into a Chucky Cheese parking lot next to where he was, call the city non emergency number. Tried to wake him up without touching him. Would not wake up and in the end both police and emergency services came.

He was drunk but still how many people had simply passed what was a dead body or somebody in medical distress. These people were not evil just many likely were not sure what to do.

I think they simply chose not to get involved.

My very first day away at school (Philadelphia) I had to park my car in a lot and walk a few blocks. I came upon a man laying on the sidewalk in a very awkward position. I believed him to be dead having been struck by a car. I called 911. I was so upset & my mouth so dry that I could barely speak. People just kept walking by.
Turns out he was a homeless guy and that was his regular patch of sidewalk. I ended up passing him everyday...
I often thought there was something wrong with me because the homeless people never became invisible to me as they had to everyone else.

Anyway.

That happens a lot actually. The indigent and alcoholics and drug addicts are ignored a lot. I get that. Very few people ever stop. But just because they aren't evil, more than a few are actually dangerous and mentally ill.

I am not a guy.

It doesn't make sense to me that she would basically move in with a guy she had just met. But that's just me.

I don't believe it was a premeditated murder.
The only scenario I come up with is it was to be a Halloween prank. Perhaps they ran into Rudy on the way.
Men do some stupid things in hopes of "getting some"
and the downstairs guys stated Rudy was interested in Amanda.

I don't like to speculate on motive. It's not required here in the US. And considering murder hardly ever makes any sort of sense to me..and I have no idea what goes on in a murderers head...

I am typically comfortable without a clear concise logical motive.

People tend to kill for jealously, greed, revenge, thrill or to cover up another crime...that's my understanding anyway.
Why people chose to kill their spouse as opposed to simply getting divorced, or kill their own children ..I will never be able to wrap my head around.
And when people somehow convince others to help them, it makes it all the more baffling to me.

I am sure a lot of people thought about calling the police but did not.
They were indecisive and went by.
In the case of Amanda, she was indecisive about calling the police.
Don't really see a big deal.

To go from ignoring it and taking a shower & blow drying her hair ...to being so panicked an attempt was made to break down Meredith's door.... to failing to relay the panicked alarm to the first police on scene makes zero sense to me.

“Past and present religious atrocities have occurred not because we are evil, but because it is a fact of nature that the human species is, biologically, only partly rational. Evolution has meant that our prefrontal lobes are too small, our adrenal glands are too big, and our reproductive organs apparently designed by committee; a recipe which, alone or in combination, is very certain to lead to some unhappiness and disorder.”

Got a strange question reading through some of the older posts.
Did Crini try to actually throw the case but failed at it?

Sorry Miss or Mam. I'll remember in the future.

Men don't murder to "get some". There is a huge difference between sex and violence. It's what most people don't comprehend about rape. Rape really has little to do with sex. It's about control and violence.

You've nailed why most murders take place. you missed the financial motive for murder, but that's probably just an oversight. I get why people murder instead of getting divorced. The people involved can't handle the rejection or have a financial motive for doing it. That's a highly charged emotional situation.

You're right. Motive isn't necessary but there almost always is one. But what's missing here is not just one person's motive but two. Neither of which appear to have a violent bone in their bodies. Not before, not after. There is no financial motive. Jealousy is also pretty absurd.

You seem to be willing to ignore the total lack of connection to Rudy. I don't see how you can do that. You are also willing to ignore the evidence that points to the time of death as it means nothing.

From my view, all you really present as justification is a feeling that Amanda and Raffaele are suspicious and nothing else. That ain't enough in my book.

There is only really shots taken from the Parking garage across the street. There are CCTV cameras between Raffale's apartment and there are no incriminating shot of Amanda or Raffaele, the night of the murder or the next day.

There are shots from the motion activated parking garage across the street. They show Rudy approaching the cottage through the garage at about 8:30. There is also shots of Meredith arriving home the night of the murder at 9:00 PM.

Originally, the prosecution argued that the parking garage camera the next day proved that Raffaele called the Carbineiri police AFTER the Postal Police arrived . They said the time stamp on the camera was ten minutes early than the actual time. When in fact, the camera stamp was ten minutes later. This clearly shows that the assertion that Raffaele called after the police arrived as false.

That's covers pretty much everything you need.

Well you are looking at it through hindsight and guilt glasses.

I think you are being totally unreasonable if you cant' see how it built from nothing to something requiring action.

First when Amanda got home there were just clues and what did they mean? Some very tiny drops of blood, poop in the toilet and the front door open. So what? I'm actually shocked that Amanda didn't think nothing of it and went to Gubbio with Raffaele.

But that is the kind of thing that just gnawed on her mind. So she talked to Raffaele and it bothered him, and then she called Meredith on her phone, then she called Filomena for advice. Then the police arrive with her phones!!!

Her door is locked and now everyone has a horrible feeling.

If you don't get that..then take your guilt blinders off.

What makes a priest's opinion more relevant that any other person in the street? He heard her confession. Big deal.

Quoting a priest as an authority isn't going to go down well in this forum.

How do you think the priest compares to the prison guard?

Yes...the police claim the local CCTV shows nothing. The defense does not get to see it BTW. But trust them ...the police say there is nothing. Which seems like rather important evidence to me actually. Nothing certainly means something. Sounds like I'm stuck in a Seinfeld episode.

I wasn't talking about the 911 operator but rather the investigators that would review the 911 call as part of the investigation. As I said most here wish to minimize it but it clearly is something that would raise suspicion with an investigator. It would be interesting to know how Raf responded when they first asked him about the wording.

His response doesn't make him guilty or even cause a reasonable person to lean in that direction but still would be something that initially would cause a reasonable investigator pause.

Only among "investigators" trained by playing Cluedo. The person raising the alarm is highly unlikely to be the perpetrator IMO.

The fact that such people sometimes get convicted just calls more cases into question.

These are the kind of discussions that drive me crazy. With all due respect, I see it as mental masturbation without the happy ending.

There is no way we will ever know precisely what happened and everyone is basing their speculation on how the murder went down based on the scantiest clues.

I see the evidence that Rudy committed the murder based on his footprints, palm print, DNA and his statements. What I don't see is similar incriminating evidence that Amanda and Raffaele were involved.

I also don't see every detail on how the murder went down.

Somehow, this just isn't that satisfying to me.

Only one person knows exactly how the murder went down if even he remembers.

Be nice if simply admitted that he did it alone like Omar Ballard did.

I have great difficultly taking the opinion of a man that believes in an invisible sky daddy seriously.

I've never met her but I have watched quite a bit of her testimony, interviews and written letters and writings. (I have not read anyone's book)
I have my own opinion of her. I believe her to be a narcissist.
Being a narcissist doesn't make her a murderer, and I excuse much of her "inappropriate" and odd behavior and affect.

I can't get around her lies, her callousness and her rehearsed answers & waste of time interviews and false statements.

Peg is that you? Cuz it sounds an awful lot like you.

How about your opinion on the abiltity to clean up specific DNA meanwhile leaving other DNA (Guede) ?

Please can we get something from you like facts? We understand you have an opinion. A rather common PGP opinion based on nothing but speculation.

I have a speculation too. You hate Knox because she is pretty, intelligent, and a young woman. Unlike the real Peg who appears and writes as some angry dried up old hag with repressed lesbian hate issues. She actually desires Knox and that is repulsive to her and so she overreaches by stating baseless hate filled opinion...meanwhile ignoring facts that any realistic and honest evaluator would use to determine that it is impossible to conclude guilt of anything at all.

The police told Knox that Lumumba was guilty. She eventually broke and agreed with what the police knew to be true. How hard is that to understand? Duh!
