Received the following in an email on SSB, with no subject:

Mr Lancaster, I was wondering, now that Sylvia Browne is dead, if you intended to shift your attention to Christopher dufresne, and dissuade others from getting readings with him through your website. Now that Sylvia Browne is dead, to me the most logical step is to go for Christopher dufresne, and avoid more people getting hurt or simply wasting their hard earned money on false hope.

I would also like to compliment you regarding your work with the site because it has been really informative and helpful to me since I was a believer. While I never I intended to have a reading either with Sylvia or Chris, it helped me see that they're just liars and frauds that prey on your emotions and grief, and would like to see their practice out of business, which is why I want to know if you intended to post a little more on Chris dufresne. If you feel the need to publish this, you have my permission, but all I ask you is to not use my name at all.

My reply:

[name]:

Thanks so much for your email.

I am, at present, unable to update the site, due to long-standing technical difficulties.

I have intended for some time now to add more content about Dufresne to the site, and have several emails from people dissatisfied with readings from him which I intend to add to the site once I am able to do so. But you are right - Sylvia's death does make such an article more important and needed.

Thanks again,

Robert S. Lancaster

Nice to see a StopSylvia email thread!

Sounds like Chris is carrying on, at least for now, though at $175 per reading. I wonder how well he's doing or if there's a real future for him in his mother's footsteps. He has an Ask Chris column going on the web site and in the newsletter. Wish I could be a fly on the wall in the offices.

I listened to his webcast via the Novus Spiritus radio. He was answering questions for people who call in or participate in their chat room. His demeanor is just so fake, he rattles off a ton of nonsense and doesn't even pretend that he has to think for one second before answering questions. He does call everyone "dear" and it is very unsettling. He is just creepy.

Robert... are you saying you need some sort of tech support?

It's primarily an FTP issue. I got your PM, thanks.

Me too, ExM! (of course, I would be a Dark Entity fly).

He is just creepy.

Creepy?

This guy?

Once again, your avatar adds drama to your post...

ETA: And that photo is from the (front!) cover of a book he co-authored with his mother!

Truly a face only a mother would publish.

Well he does look a little better on Sylvia's website.

Yes, I have seen some non-creepy photos of him, both there and elsewhere, but in the one above, and a couple of others (such as a "family portrait" published in one of his mother's books, in which his eyes are bugging out), his CF (Creepiness Factor) is quite high.

I know, I know: Pot, kettle, etcetera...

Here's the book cover from which that picture of him was cropped:

It would be fun to Photoshop the title to read:

MY LIES
WITH
SYLVIA BROWNE

Specifically?

Your ISP doesn't support uploading?

Filezilla doesn't work on your computer?

You forgot the password?

Not sure, maybe, and no. And thanks for asking, by the way.

Your ISP doesn't support uploading?

Up until recently, my ISP was Sprint, but a week or so ago, I switched to Comcast, and have yet to try FTP uploading to the site since then, since it had not occurred to me that Sprint might be the problem.

Filezilla doesn't work on your computer?

Well, I am using Filezilla. And it runs, but fails after connecting to the remote FTP server. I forget the error message (it has been a while since the last time that I tried).

You forgot the password?

At one time I had, but GoDaddy tech support walked me through changing it.

I will get ahold of them again today, walk through an attempt to upload, and, if it fails, perhaps they can ascertain why from their end.

Again, thanks.

No problem, although I'm a little surprised that I'm the one to have provided the spur to finally do something to resolve these "long-standing technical difficulties".

Especially given the importance and necessity of the proposed article you are/were discussing with your correspondent.

I wonder if there'd be a benefit to building a list of JREF members with technical skills who could volunteer time to support the content creators?

Not everybody can wear both hats; technical barriers really eat into content creation time.
