LDS II: The Mormons

No they were not. Read the link.
Okay, sorry. Lot's "guests" (who were the ones that the mob really wanted to gang rape) saved them from that fate. You got me on that one. But Lot was willing to hand his daughters to the mob, which is not the act of a righteous man. Just like Abraham was willing to murder his own son at God's demand.

Now go read Judges 19, and tell me it doesn't make you feel all squicky.

If all the OP scriptures came out of the books of Moses, i`d very very impressed.
Haunted, actually.
Where can i find these verses exactly?(and i mean THE actual verse... by book, chapter, verse)
I have both the Bible and the Book of Mormon.
If many of the OP scriptures were put in, in say the last couple hundred years, because of things science learned...well, then the BS meter starts going up.

It was but a distractionary tactic, the daughters of Lot were protected by the Lord, as was Lot and his wife... until she regretted leaving her home, lost faith and looked back, after having been commanded to not do so. Sodom and Gomorrah, and all inhabitants were destroyed. Those who choose wickedness will be punished.

As I've said before, Greek and Roman mythology is a lot more entertaining than these silly stories.

Most OT Biblical accounts were explanations for observations of man.
What happened to Lot`s wife was an explanation for why deer licks came into being. :sdl: <-----i cant help myself

As a test of his faith and obedience. However, the Lord stayed his hand and Isaac was not harmed.

I heard of a mother who believed God told her to put her infant into an oven as a test of faith and obedience; it was burnt to a crisp.

So your god is a vile, petulant child who kills on a whim for the slightest non compliance and plays twisted head games with his followers. How is killing someone for looking over their shoulder moral? If you killed someone because they looked over their shoulder when you asked them not to, the least you would get is life in prison. God does it and you're all, god is just and merciful. Burning a whole town and everyone in it is a despicable act. Killing someone for a backwards glance is despicable. What do you think it means that an imaginary being so vile appeals to you?

He was a god made in the image of the primitive men who invented him. A tribal god, vindictive and mean who thought it proper to slaughter, rape and pillage rival neighboring tribes because that’s what tribes did back then.

The Mormon scriptures have self-consciously reinvented the same barbaric tribal deity in their derivative scriptures and what is truly pathetic is that this was done in the far more socially advanced nineteenth century. When it comes to religion resisting evolving social values in favor of its violent discriminatory past the Mormons take the cake. We see it in Janadel's worldview on a daily basis.

For the sake of enlightened civilization these religious fanatics must be resisted at all cost.

Joseph Smith was good at sounding pseudo middle english.

Minor nit-pick: Smith was good at imitating the KJV, which was written in Early Modern English. Chaucer wrote in Middle English.

And no-one here is interested in your tiresome preaching, Janadele.

How about the differences between your Jesus and the xianist Jesus?

As in, the things your sect is all worked up about that Jesus is not said to have said, in the xianists scriptures; and the things your sect is all positive about, that Jesus is said to have specifically spoken out against in the xianist scriptures?

Many years ago...like 40 years ago...i had such questions i wanted tp ask my deeply religious aunt & uncle, but did not dare ask.
I think they kind of wondered about some of my priorities the way it was, and this would have sort of sent me over the cliff if i showed that i `doubted the Lord`............
I was living with them at that time, out of highschool, and didnt want to ruin my welcome.
I didnt want to run my thoughts past my parents either as i both didnt want to get in arguments with them, nor to put doubts in their head. I figured no good would come of it.
I had TONS of questions. It started at Genesis 1:1, and went from there to even include philosophy...say....how one could love someone/something, more than your own parents(which is promoted in the Bible), that you could not see, hear or touch.

How do you know the scriptures are the word of God when different Christian groups have different scriptures, the individual stories have misalignments (two different Genesis sequences, Gospel events in different sequences), there are scientific errors, and above all, all you have for evidence they are the word of God is opinion? My heart says your scriptures were written by men. Why is your opinion any better?

Though there is necessarily a veil over our remembrance, our Spirits recognise both truth and our Heavenly Father from our pre-mortal life, where we certainly could see hear and touch.

If there was a god his only question would be "Why did you throw your life away?" "I gave you a beautiful world full of wonder and surprise and enough diversity to keep you interested but you decided to hide away from the world and follow the narrow, restricted word of a two bit con artist*". "Instead of using the mind I gave you you chose to bind it with dead dogma".

*Any prophet.

Christian Scriptures include:
...
The Book of Mormon. The Pearl of Great Price. The Doctrine and Covenants.

No they don't. A tiny minority of people who regard themselves as Christian think they are, but the vast majority of the world's Christians do not believe that they are of any divine origin, and either ignore them entirely or condemn them. It would make sense to call them LDS Scriptures or even LDS Christian Scriptures, but without the qualifier, it's a false statement.

An analogy would be saying that founding American documents include: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Sarah Palin's September 4, 2011 Tea Party Speech, the song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" by Toby Keith, and all the Chrysler "Guts, Glory, Ram" commercials. The last three don't qualify, even though a few Americans seem to get excited about them.
