Isn't this news over there in the anglo sphere? We here are bombarded with stories of Chodorkowski's release. Part of amnesty which also led to the release of the two thirds of "Pussy Riot" remaining in custody. And those Green Peace fools who attacked a serious oil rig.

It's been reported in the Anglo sphere. I know it was reported over here because one of the Greenpeace people was an Australian.

I don't know what you expect from this thread though.

Typical response by a tyrannical regime when their leader wants to be lauded on the international stage, or more specifically in this case wants his pet project not to be marred by protests.

When you say "We here", exactly who and where are you referring to?

Olympics.

If I remember correctly, CE is German.

I'm wondering if there is a link between "bombarded with stories" and the fact the Chordokovsky fled to Germany when he was released?

Darat has it right. I'l get interested when a Russian court DOESN'T send a dissident to gaol in the first place. Releasing them at the tyrant's whim just confirms the tyrany.

He didn't "flee", he was escorted. By him:

Very strange events.

Very strange events.

Not really. Khodorkovsky has been neutralised as a threat and the sentence was long enough to be a warning to anyone else considering challenging Putin. The others are a PR move with the Olympics coming up.

Part of his clean up campaign to make himself look good for the opening of the Olympics.

Lame PR gimmick that fools no one but those who WANT to be fooled.

All three have been reported upon in Canadian media. Of course Greenpeace activists are largely Canadians and anything with "pussy" in the name will get reported on. So two out of three are no brainer's.

Not sure why CE thought it otherwise.

Ditto here... in fact CNN covered the hell out of it for a good 36 hours straight. Quite annoying.
