Unidentified GOP Leader to Obama: "I cannot even stand to look at you"

It's a poor reputation you have when a charge such as this is so easily believed.

Easily believed by who?

A: By those who want to believe it.

What actually is telling is that leftists like Durbin have to invent events to push the narrative. What with the unprececented levels of hatred and racism in the GOP, you'd think he wouldn't have to make things up amirite?

Leaving aside the truth, the falsity, or the truthiness of the claim, Am I the only one surprised that the Tea Party panderers haven't all stepped forward to take credit? I am Spartacus . No, I am Spartacus. No, I am Spartacus.

You are not the only one.

Got to love this JREF political threads. This one took all the way until post #2 until someone said "repubilcans are racist"!

In all fairness, if Republicans don't want to be called racist, maybe they should stop bringing confederate flags to Sasha and Malia's front lawn.

It's a thought, at least.

Well, a name has been named: Pete Sessions, R-TX.

Link

Also of note is that Jay Carney has apparently denied that the incident happened.

Isn't it amazing how much of a liar Republicans consider Obama to be ...until now.

Regardless, lots of second-hand and third-hand sources referred to in that link. It's a bit of a cluster.

Ha! Your straw man is based on Obama actually being a liar?

FANTASTIC!

Excellent point. It's not clear that we yet have any first-hand accounts.

We need to know when this occurred? Was it at recess? PE class? study hall? Did someone leave a nasty note in someone else's locker??

Wait, it's NOT Junior High School???:boggled:

Which is why I thought it is possible that Obama was being the bigger man and just denying, through proxy, that anything happened that might cause the people he's trying to persuade any embarrassment. You know, being diplomatic.

Even if it's true, I don't see the problem. And if a member of the Democratic caucus had said the same thing to George W. Bush, I would have cheered for him.

The problem is that this country hasn't or won't leave race behind. I don't even know how to word the examples of which I'm thinking wherein someone wouldn't bring race into the conversation. For example, democrats have a legitimate disagreement with former Florida Representative Allan West. No problem on a policy level, whether you agree with the democrats or not. It's a matter of trying to find the best answers for the country. So why do many call him a traitor to his race or worse?

Or, many Republicans have legitimate complaints about the President's policies and goals. Why does the conversation often devolve into a race issue? It's irrelevant - it's about trying to find what is best for the country.

Please note that I'm talking here about what I believe are sincere people that really do care about the future of the US. Yes, there are pinheads on both sides, but I honestly think they're in the minority.

Let's take a step further - let's say that I say that I can't stand to look at a particular white politician (since I'm generically white [more accurately, in the minority group German-Hungarian, but who cares]) because they irritate the living daylights out of me - I've said that many times about members of both parties*. Does that make me bigoted against white people? Or is it because I can't get a straight, simple answer out of them? Not that the solutions are simple, but the way a question is answered should be.

*Note to people running for office in all parties: the way to get my vote is NOT to be hanging around near my place of employment at 0700 on Election Day before I've had my first of coffee, and saying in a way too loud voice: "Hi! I'm so-and-so and I'm running for..."

I imagine someone, somewhere, in the Republican party would reply: for over five years, he has treated our party and our country with disrespect - why should we continue to respect him when he has desecrated so much that we hold holy?

The republicker party (what used to be the Republican Party but was beaten down to the malign and pathetic thing it is today) chose the path it took to get here when it sold itself for votes to the religious right in the 80s and then more recently shot off it's feet and hands by letting it's masters found and fund the supposed grassroots Teabaggers. The Republican Party did deserve respect. What it has become deserves none at all.

"While the quote attributed to a Republican lawmaker in the House GOP meeting with the president is not accurate, there was a miscommunication when the White House read out that meeting to Senate Democrats, and we regret the misunderstanding.”

Game over.
