Kind of ironic, no, that you are quoting a fictitious person? ;)

You're smart. I chose my words carefully. By the standards of this thread, I should really have answered tuxcat 'No, Holmes is no more able to say anything than the spirits are. It was Arthur Conan Doyle'

Strange how fact and fiction blend

Jsf Wav VolNorm. Continuous error "upload file failed" Any idea's why anyone?

I had poor broadband a while ago, using a weak wireless signal. I had a hard time uploading word docs for work. If your connection is poor, that's what can happen. If you're uploading text, you might as well copy and paste it in a thread.

Sorry I gave up hope there. I have sent Js a file of Mr Roberts to upload to here (Thank u Js)

flaccon, since you're online: see below quoted post including the there embedded quotes:

Since I was informed that uploading files lose quality/sound, there is little point. But I do have a recently added message to an older file. It's very loud. Where will I send it to?

Yes it can be challenging uploading files to the JREF board, flaccon. That is because we are only allowed to upload small files so to get them there at all, posters need to compress them and this changes the quality. The best thing for you to do is to email files to jsfisher or Daylightstar who can post them elsewhere on the internet where there is plenty of room. There is no loss of quality if you email digital files.

If you follow Daylightstar's instructions he tells you how to find his email address.

The note with the VolumeUpInt.WAV file is mine. It reflects the confusion over which file had the silence and the word, "Robin". It really should apply to the VolumeNormInt.WAV file, where the level does change around 21 seconds in, and then there are a variety of glitches as the recording continues. (No "Robin" that I can hear, though.)

Here are some Audacity screenshots from an amplified VolumeNormInt.WAV:
VolumeNormInt_21secondsIn.JPG
VolumeNormInt_38seconds_Robin.JPG

Where "Robin" is supposed to be, nothing whatsoever like that can be heard. Not even the most tenuous suggestion.

The oher file, VolumeUpInt.WAV shows different spikes than the other file by the way.

The file has been uploaded to the box.com site Alderbank had set up. Both the original file I had sent to you and the one you emailed back are there.

File size is very restricted to keep bandwidth down. Also I think certain file types are not permitted

If you click "Go Advanced" below the message box, you'll find below the advanced message box an area called "Additional Options".
In that area there is a button called "Manage attachments".
Click that button and you'll get a window allowing you to upload two files at the same time and showing you a list of various allowed file types and their upload limits.

If your file type is not there, you can stick it in an allowed zip file and post it, keeping in mind the limit for a zip file.

Both flaccon and scrappy sent me a WMV file. The two were identical, so I uploaded the one from flaccon. It's in the box.com area under the name Robin Roberts..wmv.

The video file has, amazingly, video; I'm guessing that's Robin himself giving us all a wave. :w2:

ETA: Scrappy had named is file with what he must have heard in the audio. I didn't upload the version. It would be better if everyone has a shot at listening to the file first before scrappy or flaccon revealing what they think is there.

flaccon, I would like to draw your attention to my earlier post again:
..., We don't belong in a circus. I listened in with her and said to her "I doubt you will hear that sentence its too long" She replied "Yes I got that sentence too" ...
... a spirit clearly but quietly says "It's evident we don't belong in a circus" ...

flaccon, do you have in your possession a file in which such a sentence can clearly (and apparently repeatedly) be heard?

If so, I'd like to hear it. Could you email that file (email address via the icon below my post count) to me?
I'll extract the audio and post it here.

Thank you.

Cool. So no audio or video files in their native formats. That table is very useful

Creaking and a very faint sound of running water is all I can hear.

My apologies for having missed this post.
The files that you can attach to a post do not change in quality/sound as far as this site concerns.

However, I asked you to email that file with the "circus" reference to the email address via the little msn icon below my post count, which is below my avatar and such.
Sending it via email does not change the file in any way whatsoever.

I am now not interested in any other file, but the one with the "circus" reference.
Please send that file with the "circus" reference to me. Thank you.

What's not in the list, you can stick in a zip file.

E.T.A. If you want to be certain about the limitations of sticking a so called non allowed file in a zip file, you may report this post and ask a moderator for help on this subject.
