The state of FL v. George Zimmerman

But will it assist the jury? I find her style of testimony to be a bit top-heavy.

She sure did smile a lot, I can't decide if her her testimony is natural or fake.

The judge is ending the day by telling the jurists right now they can't go on the Internet. Poor people! I suspect it used to be a lot easier for people when all they had to do was avoid the news!

5:41 p.m. ET: The judge has recessed court for the day. Testimony will resume at 9 a.m. ET on Friday.

Disastrous day for the prosecution. I wonder if Zimmerman's side will even bother mounting a defense?

Depends to some extent on whether OMara let them slip GZ's history in with his questioning (judges ruling pending). Though I don't think it will be HUGE either way, BUT it's the only thing I saw good for the prosecution.

Just wanna say thanks to all the good people providing summaries and video links. Fascinating stuff.

Knock Knock. Who's there? Your Match.

There once was a lawyer named Don, who tended to talk awfully long;
But on the points that were relevant, he cud-da-not make a dent,
In a witness surprisingly strong.

Lauer, the current witness, is easily the most calm, together witness to date, at least as far I have seen. She was calm and collected on the 911 recording and isn't obviously filling in gaps in her knowledge with things she heard and saw after the fact.

Holy crap, de Li Rionda's own picture is being used against him! He just tried to show anyone on the sidewalk could see the address on her house, she said the view might be obstructed. Then he shows a pic from the sidewalk which shows a bush obstructing her address. :boggled:

Unlikely for GZ The bushes are a long way in front of the houses. To see the number its onlt a matter of moving a few feet left or right

In any case the only obstructing bush is to the south of the E-W section of Twin Trees Lane

From anywhere on the E-W section (even from inside George's parked truck) the view to the number is unobstructed

This is so far a very good witness... for the defense. She also is insistent she heard the fight go from left (at the T) to the right (where Martin's body was). And since her house is on the corner with windows on 3 sides, she is in position to make that determination.

OK I have the picture now. George on the T-bar, Martin "confronts" George "Why are you following me?", then backs up 30 feet with George crowding him. At which point he believes the only way he can disengage from the creepy asscracker is to pop him on the schnoz.

It's the 30 foot argument that makes George a murderer.

I linked it to the part right before that whole section started laughing regarding the nearly incomprehensible testimony of DeeDee, and her peculiar insistence of "you can go. YOU CAN GO". Looked at the guy behind him also laughing. Also the guy beside the father doing the same up and down shoulder movement as the father as when people laugh. It makes more sense that they're laughing rather than crying in this situation. Anyway, it's trivial, I just thought it was weird.

Also, where are people getting that DeeDee has a learning disability? Maybe she's just a really stupid person.

[Today's summary and video links are dedicated to all you crazy ass crackas, [n-words], and rapists out there. You gotta trust me. You just don't know.]

Day 4 of testimony began with an ending. Season 1 of Court Nails with Diamond Eugene ended with Ms. Rachel Jeanel finishing up her little chat with Don West, attorney for Mr. Zimmerman. Ms. Jeanel started on her best behavior - prompting West to inquire if Ms. Jeanel felt OK. She felt fine and got good sleep. Good for her.

West continued to cross examine Jeanel on the circumstances surrounding her discovery and interview by the State's Attorney Office. Jeanel didn't believe the rumors going around about Martin's death until someone forwarded her a news story of the event in the form of a text message. Most of this was repeat from yesterday - Mr. Martin got in contact with her and asked her to call Crump. They conducted the botched interview, etc... Again, at some point, Crump and Co. along with "a bald guy" picked her up and brought her to Martin's mother's house where they conducted an interview in the very house Trayvon lived only weeks before his death. The state can afford 70-large for a phone whisperer but cannot use a Miaimi PD interview room. Jeanel seemed proud to admit that she altered her testimony in that statement to placate a weeping Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin and the Scheme Team who were all assembled with the state officials. We'll hear more about that in closing.

In regard to letter written by Francine and signed by her, Jeanel admitted that she couldn't read it because she could not read many cursive words but she could read typewritten ones.

The most heated parts of the testimony involved her memory of the final phone call. Jeanel continued to vacillate between Martin confronting Zimmerman and Zimmerman confronting Martin. She settled on Martin turning around to speak the first words.

Another contention was "a little get off, get off." In her deposition recording, she plainly states she was having trouble hearing Martin, then she hears "get off, get off." On the tape, BDLR asks if it was Martin or Zimmerman. "I [some word] hear Trayvon" or something to that effect. West argued the word was couldn't, Jeanel argued coulda

"I couldn't hear Trayvon"
"I coulda hear Trayvon."

You have to decide.
Paging Dr. Reich, Dr. Reich, please!

Jeanel continued to narrate how she urged Martin to run, but he was tired and near his father's house. She narrated how she heard a bump and new Travon had been hit because of the headpiece. This set up this dramatic exchange:

West: ""You don't know that? Do you? You don't know that Trayvon got hit. You don't know that Trayvon didn't at that moment take his fists and drive them into George Zimmerman's face."

Jeanel: No. Sir.

Later, when asked if she knew that Martin punched Zimmerman and was lying to protect his character:

Jeanel: "That is retarded."

There really is too much to mention here.

After establishing that the encounter was the result of racism on behalf of Zimmerman and that people in her culture (who she could not name) routinely refer to white people as crackers and use the n-word with impunity, Ms Jeanel was done, subject to recall.
Dust off your DVR, producers are hard at work on Season 2.

Jeanel: "Can I use my cell-phone now."
Nelson: "As soon as you leave my courtroom you can."

In like a lion; out like...a bag of lions.

Next up, an authentication witness from T-Mobile to admit Zimmerman's and Martin's cell records. Some screw up - the state accidentally got Zimmerman's phone records early - which means they are down to the second. Through some administrative foul-up, they did not request the official records for Martin until 6 months after the event when the old records are destroyed. The retained records round to the minute. People are going to prison in this country for pathetic stunts like this.

Ahhh....Jenna Lauer...the girl next door....the one who always had homework when I asked her to play....even in summer.

Jenna lived on the NE corner of the T, closest to where the altercation began. [Unaboogie strongly disagrees with me at this point.] She heard the three exchanges and muted Celebrity Apprentice. [What could Trump give you that I could not, Jenna? Ask yourself that.] She could not tell who the voices belonged to. Her husband wanted to go outside via the front door (had he walked out the patio he felt like he would have been on top of the altercation) He went to get a weapon. O'Mara suggested a kitchen knife, to which Jenna replied, "How would he know where those were," to general laughter. She sparred with BDLR over how easy it would be to supply an address - there's one on the front of her house, but it is obscured by a bush. She also had poor recall of street names in the complex. This was the Facebook moment. [Unaboogie was right - they weren't on her account and she was following RZ, Jr. but had sent a total of 0 tweets to anyone.] She was released subject to recall by the state. BDLR is arguing that her assertion that she never saw Zimmerman as a hothead allows him to mention Zimmerman's mutual TRO and arrest. That will be argued by motion. W11 was the person on whose request SPD took injury photos on Zimmerman before he was cleaned up. She didn't want to ID the unknown person out of fear. She did not recognize Zimmerman because of his distorted appearance. "He had a lot going on right there," speaking of his face.

Last up, Selma Mora, who spoke through a translator. Ms. Mora has more curves than Retreat View Circle. OK, that was lame but it's getting late. Mora heard noises, heard a gunshot, went outside and saw Zimmerman on top of Martin. She also heard what sounded like a kid hitting the concrete. She knew the sound of kids hitting concrete because they often skateboard behind the townhome she shares with Mary Cutcher. O'Mara had her do a bit of demonstration of her exact movements that night in front of the court. She was pretty funny - she obviously was a little embarrassed and loving the spotlight.

You know what?

The spotlight loved her too.

It was not daytime. Street signs are not house numbers, either. It was also raining.

You say Martin confronted GZ...isn't it then more likely that Martin crowded GZ back down the T just prior to the sucka' punch? :)

Or maybe bigfoot came out of the bushes?

John Goode on the stand now, says he saw 2 people "tussling" on the ground and moving slightly from the grass to the concrete. Says person wearing dark clothing was on top, and the person under had lighter red clothing. Person on bottom also had a lighter complexion than the person on top. Person on top was straddling person on bottom, person on top had "arm movements going downward" "multiple times". Person on bottom was yelling for help.

Wow, BDLR asked Goode "can you see if the person on the bottom had a gun out already", pretty much admitting that it was Zimmerman on bottom screaming for help.

This is not good for the prosecution.

The prosecution brought this witness? What the hell are they trying to do? Lose? :boggled:
