The state of FL v. George Zimmerman

The problem with her testimony is how do "grass sounds" resolve what caused them? Does Zimmerman grass sounds have any difference from Martin grass sounds?
That wasn't the point of the mockery though, was it?

Please reread the quote I responded to, the same one you mocked with:

Dude, she heard the grass. Grass don't lie.

Now you have moved it all the way over to WHO made the grass sounds...as if that even matters.

What? The photos were entered by the state .

Yeah... that's the prosecution entering photos in support of their case (specifically regarding the minor nature of Zimmerman's injuries and his overall clean and neat appearance), not the defense entering photos in support of theirs.

That's kind of an important distinction, so I'm not sure why you attempted to conflate the two.

Regardless, my original point stands: The defense hasn't presented any evidence in this case, because they can't. It's not their turn.

There are already several defense exhibits introduced as well, such as the Hollister and football photos of Martin.

Yes, it's a novel strategy, but who are we to question it? :)

My point being that the prosecution thinks Z was justified, but HAVE TO prosecute due to public opinion.

Things like opening with pics that DO show that Z was injured, witnesses that seem to help prove self defense? Does this prosecution team REALLY want to prove guilt, or do they want to exonerate?

eta: Hmmm, after the prosecution is done, isn';t the defense's first act to ask for dismissal by the jusde, on the basis of lack of evidence? Dismissal then won't happen in this high profile case though.

You are correct, it's probably a mass conspiracy by all the newspapers to completely misrepresent what the witness stated.

I'm not sure why a conspiracy would be necessary because the newspaper you quoted doesn't support your previous claim.

"She also said she omitted some details of what she knew because she was trying to spare Martin's family grief."

=/=

"We have the witness flat out admitting to changing the story to make Trayvon sound better."

Please let me know when you have the quotes to support your claim. Thanks.

Sorry for the OT question but it's been many years since I watched a court case on TV and it appears that "court TV" doesn't even exist any more other than as some ridiculous looking drama/documentary type channel.
1. What channel is carrying this case live?
2. Is there a recommended streaming site you folks prefer?
Thanks!
Lots of sites are streaming it, I'm watching here: http://www.mediaite.com/uncategorized/george-zimmerman-trial-day-3-testimony-live-stream/

This is a disastrous day for the prosecution.

They are basically all done with Rachel Jeantel.

I have no idea what the jurors must be thinking. They (supposedly) don't have the background info on Crump, etc., so this was a lot to process.

She was adamant on some strange things, like that if TM was going to beat GZ, he would have let her know he would call her back. Although that doesn't reflect well on TM, the jury could certainly take that as an indication that RJ was being honest about whether TM planned to attack GZ or not, at least as far as he told her.

It was ... very weird after all this time to finally hear her testimony.

Holy Crap! They used to show the court cases until 3. I just checked and Most Shocking is on right now. When did that happen? I know they were court at least up until the Arias trial and that, mercifully, just ended.
I think it happened once everyone had broadband connections and could watch any trial they wanted without commercial breaks and without TV. TV trials are obsolete.

After repeatedly testifying that Trayvon used the term "creepy ass cracker", she comes up with this gem:

2:14 p.m. ET: Jeantel says people in her culture use the N-word and "cracker" often.

"Trayvon referred to white people as crackers, correct?" asked West.

"I don’t recall, sir," said Jeantel after a long pause. West has finished his questions for today.

That's rebuttal evidence, not evidence being submitted in support of Zimmerman's self-defense claim.

The defense can't do that yet because it's not their turn.

For today, they'll call her back tomorrow.

2:22 p.m. ET: The judge has dismissed Jeantel, telling her she is allowed to go home but that she may have to come back and arrangements will be made for her return at that time.

"Can I use my phone?" asked Jeantel.

"As soon as you're out of the courtroom you can," said Judge Debra Nelson.

"I want to call my friends and tell them how mean that cracker attorney was to me"!

Jeez these lawyers know how to belabor a point. I am watching this lawyer taking forever to make the point with whoever the expert is that a cell call that says "3 minutes" on the bill could really only be 2 minutes and 3 seconds. I guess they think they need to emphasize it ad nauseum to make sure the jury gets it.

The defense can't do that yet because it's not their turn.

There's no bar on impeachment evidence - or even on state's exhibits - being used as evidence in support of a self-defense instruction. The threshold is some evidence, including the defendant's own self-serving statements or any evidence that could lead to the inference that justification could be an issue for the jury to decide. Zimmerman has already met that burden.

I noticed that de la Rionda said "the n-word" when referring to Martin's use of it per Jeantel's testimony. I bet he would have said the word outright, over and over with emphasis, if Zimmerman had uttered it.

Current witness is describing scuffling, wrestling getting closer and closer to her unit. Again supporting Zimmerman's version of events, and evidence that the scuffle was moving and not stationary which explains how the body (and thus the fight) ended up 30 feet from the T.
