Ah, the old "spirits can't be bothered" line...

It's funny how their disdain to perform is quickly cured when a mark is in the room, eh?

Flaccon's website guarantees contact as far as I remember.

Your enthusiasm is wonderful flaccon and I'm really looking forward to working with you but you are so excited that you change the game with every post!

There is no need for a test to see if there is anything worth investigating. I have already agreed it is worth investigating and 700 posts in a couple of days confirms that.

Crucially you never say objectively what outcome would be success and what would be failure. I have no doubt you will play me a recording and I will hear voices. That will not indicate a success. Nor will anything that relies on my opinion

Think about all your ideas, and those of others such as Pixel42 above, consider which would best demonstrate that spirits exist and have voices, and decide what is success and what is a fail. That is essential. The good news is that forumites here are both able and willing to help with that. Once we agree on a fair test we are all set to go.

Just got to this post.

I've acquired coloured cards, paper and pens etc. sorted out recordings, stains. We may as well "test" simple ability whilst exploring the more serious side.

I like this new test of asking them to repeat certain phrases after the recording has been made, ie, your name.

Nah. There are a fair number of live ignorant humans who nevertheless feel superior to everyone else. See the "Why is there so much crackpot physics" thread for examples.
I wouldn't expect them to be much different after they died.
As with the spirits, they want attention, but don't feel the need to prove anything.

Previously you have claimed that they are dead people.

Only some of them. Some of them are apparently the spirits of the living, which is perhaps even more alarming (especially to the owners of those spirits).

No. If you are searching for a specific word or phrase you will almost certainly hear it. This is why you can't tell people what words to listen for, it is inherently biased.

Just listening for voices proves absolutely nothing as it doesn't rule out pareidolia.

How about Pixel42's name?

Agreed. That would be much better.

Flaccon, do you see the difference? You need something that allows you to tell pareidolia from spirit voices. Simple, objective answers you don't know in advance is the way to do it.

Someone else's name would be better since Wardencliffe managed to work mine out.

For the record he got it by remembering me explaining why I chose my avatar in a Doctor Who thread (I had belatedly remembered that my avatar was a clue but thought it unlikely flaccon would pick up on it) and then googling Barbara Pixel42 which found him my photobucket account and hence my last name.

OK, that wouldn't be any good either.

I'll just assume the research was spirit inspired and guided.

We could always ask what my middle name is. It's uncommon enough of a name. We could also ask what my paternal and maternal grandfather's names were. They are not only quite uncommon, but they are also quite dead.

Your name is Barbara Photobucket? I thought as much. Is it at least pronounced Photo-bouquet?

Xterra knows my name and I doubt anyone else does so he can verify it. Can the spirits tell you my name?

Eta Better yet my dad is dead and swore to me he would try and contact me if he could. Ask him what he got me for my 21st birthday.

Flaccon has already asked the spirits my name, despite knowing how I would react to them they were unable to provide it. So we already know they can't or won't give the names of people not present. It's hard to know what information it would be reasonable to expect disembodied spirits to know, but if they can't or won't tell the person they are communicating with the colour of a playing card that's lying face up a few feet away then we're at an impasse.

Pixel42 has it - why should a "spirit" be omniscient? It's an easy out.

On same subject, can you think of anything to show flaccon that her mind and these "spirits" are exactly the same? I can't.
