Actually, after only being back a day, I already need a break.

Turns out there is a thread more stressful than this one.

But, you guys seem to go merrily along without me, anyway. :)

So far in this thread you have completely failed to provide any proof of life after death as claimed in the thread title. What you claim to be proof is merely anecdotal evidence of stage tricks that can be (and are) fully understood and replicated by many people that don’t claim to have psychic abilities.

All the proof this thread has offered so far is of how easy it is for gullible and sometime desperate people to be conned in to believing that magic tricks and lies are proof of a paranormal phenomena like life after death.

Regardless that you may sincerely, genuinely and totally believe JE is a genuine psychic you have offered absolutely no proof that he is, and there is plenty of proof that he isn’t.

As always, I keep the door of my mind ajar to allow for the remote possibility that yourself or someone else might provide some actual proof of a (currently merely claimed) paranormal phenomena like life after death, but I'm not holding my breath.

Robin, I have a questionf or you that involves a thought experiment. It takes the current discussion and extends it to a contexts that's less emotionally fraught than mediumship.

Let's say you heard about a flu medication called FluCure that claims to eliminate all flu symptoms within 12 hours. (If this is true, FluCure is much better than existing flu medications, which merely shorten promise the duration of symptoms.) The medication costs, say, $300. It's not covered by insurance, but I--and probably many others--would be happy to pay if the medication delivered on its claim.

The company that makes FluCure has two spokespeople who have used the medication. Each of them has taken the medication and has a story about how that he felt better hours later and their flu quickly cleared up within 12 hours. That's all the evidence the company has regarding FluCure's effectiveness.

Would you pay $300 for FluCure given the above information? Why? If not, what additional evidence would you want from the company before coughing up the cash?

This isn't proof one way or the other, but if he were truly able to perform surgery without the dangers, costs, and post-op recovery periods, why would he need a sales-y stage name like "John of God?" There are top medical surgeons out there who stand head and shoulders above their competitors, and people flock to them despite having average names like "Sanjay Gupta."

According to Edward's Five site, one benefit of membership is access to an "interactive newsletter," presumably a message board/blog. Such brand-centered message boards have become very popular since true believers' testimonials feed off each other, generating hype that increases sales.

I'd bet that he will do those five readings (per month, I assume?). The winners would likely rave about their reading on the message board, encouraging others to buy readings at full prices. For JE, that's well worth the few hours per month he would spend the readings.

A side benefit of the program for JE is that the price will basically exclude most skeptics, shills for competitors, and trolls from the message board.

It's got nothing to do with armor. It has everything to do with objective verifiable evidence. Which your anecdotes aren't.

You haven't said anything that has been even remotely convincing. No evidence, no answers, nothing but stories.
I've heard a lot of stories too but that doesn't mean I think a Big Bad Wolf blew down some little pigs houses.

As you have so far said nothing for which there isn't a plausible mundane explanation, even if you're being completely honest and your memory is 100% accurate, my guess would be none.
