Got an email at StopSylvia.com today from a correspondent saying that he/she had received an email from Browne's people announcing the new, low fees for readings!

According to my correspondent, it said that Phone readings are now:

Sylvia: $550
Chris: $200

The Readings page on Sylvia's site now says to "call for fees".

...something I don't recall seeing there before.

According to The Wayback Machine, on March 09 2013, that page listed fees as:

Sylvia: $850
Chris: $500

So their fees have dropped considerably.

I wonder if this is in response to all the bad press she has received from the Amanda Berry situation.

Just to clarify, the correspondent in the OP was me.

Edit. As I said in my second e-mail I sent Robert, I doubt that it was just due to the one incident. It was due to the accumulation of incidents. The mine disaster, stopsylvia.com site, the Youtubes that say how bad she is, this forum, the results of a Google search. It all adds up. One bad thing could be ignored. But put it all together and it is something that is serious.

Edit2. One other issue she has, WOT says her sites have a bad reputation http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/readings.sylviabrowne.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=rw-viewsc.

Ah, didn't realize that was you, rj! (although, upon closer inspection, the email address might have been a clue, had I noticed...

Certainly, her "bad press" has been accumulating over the past several years (I wonder why?), but I think that the amount - and prominance - of bad press she has received from the Amanda Berry story has exceeded all of the bad press that she has received in the past several years!

That, combined with her fees stilll being at $850/$500 as recently as this March, lead me to believe that the backlash from the Amanda Berry story is likely behind the recent price drop.

Negative media stories about any business often open up the floodgates to bad reviews. It would be interesting to look at forums where psychics are reviewed and see if there's been any change as a result of the Amanda Berry Story.

A search brought up Yelp and a few others. Yelp focuses mostly on local businesses. There's a listing for Sylvia Browne, but there are only two reviews from former clients. The other sites I found appeared to be advertising sites posing as review sites.

Does anyone know whether such sites review sites or forums exist?

She's overcharging by way more than that! I'd be willing to listen to her drivel for an hour but I certainly wouldn't do it for free.

That's still too much money.

If she lowered them to, say... -500 dollars, that is: Pay ME $500 to listen to her rant on about some mumbo-jumbo, I might consider going for it...maybe. Especially if she threw in a bonus gift card to some science toy store.

But, I doubt that will ever happen.

To steal a line from Hitchens, she should be selling pencils from a cup.

And she's still doubtless worth millions.

This is the sort of thing that makes me wish I believed in an afterlife and eternal damnation, because in the real world, she will never get what she deserves.

Gee,that's way too much..The local psychic here only charges $40.00 for a "Psychic Development Day"...but then you have to bring photos of people,[old jewelry or object]tarot cards, blanket, pillow, and lunch to share...sound like a fun scam ???

I hope that pig loses every dime she has. What an awful person. DIAF Sylvia.

Not really :( The harm she's done to so many people over the years should be criminal!

Agreed, Kate.

But Dr. Lao said that Browne should "DIAF", which is webspeak for "Die In A Fire", which seems more than a tad harsh, even for what Browne has done.

And she's still doubtless worth millions.
This makes me wonder... why exactly is she bothering doing any readings at all? You'd figure that with all the money she's scammed off people she'd be able to retire comfortably. (And since she does have some followers, it would be better to protect what's left of her reputation rather than risk making even more foolish predictions.) Is she perhaps hard up for cash?

Its pretty obvious she knows she's a fraud, so its not like she's thinking she's actually helping people.
