Sylvia Browne Phone Reading fees lowered?

Just because I mentioned the one event before I mentioned the other, does not mean that the one happened before the other. It might just indicate that the one event had more significance ( to me ) than the other. You should be aware of this kind of thing by now.
I am. You should know by now not to pick on one point to the exclusion of all the others, each of which has relevance to the issue.

Skeptics are churning out books ( which they sell ) about how people like me don't exist or are deranged, greedy or wicked. Then I get comments from academics saying I should "stop trying to scare them with accurate guesses about the future."
You know there is a million dollar prize with your name on it, right?

This is ridiculously expensive.

I have a friend who goes to a psychic and I ask her his rate and she feels uncomfortable to tell me. I asked her for his information so I could go in for a "session" and see what kind of gig he's running.

Any advice on how to talk to my friend, informing her of psychics and helping her to get out of this scam.

This one is hard. I'd suggest a variation on the suggestion that I made here: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=9303793#post9303793

But in this case, you and your friend could collaborate to win the finder's fee. The psychic in this case could be tested by the IIG and could win the $50K. You and your friend could split the $5K finder's fee.

The psychic obviously wants money and charges your friend for services rendered. So they psychic can't say that he or she would not like the $50K. So then the question becomes why won't the psychic help your friend win the $5K and get their own $50K at the same time.

The psychic's refusal to help your friend might sew the seeds of doubt necessary to grow a real skeptic.

No Flo, the woman contacted me before I contacted Lawrence. I never told them about each other, the woman did not recommend or speak of Lawrence. She seemed to know a lot about my past. She is American, and seems to have as much knowledge as a set of encyclopedias...it's just overwhelming.

It doesn't change things much. There are a great many easy and non surnatural ways of knowing a lot about anybody. Just because someone tells you they are "psychic" doesn't mean they haven't heard about you from someone else or googled, facebooked or tweeted you beforehands.

And you should be aware that you should make your stories straight before posting them on a skeptics' forum where they will be dissected by experienced readers ...

If this remark is meant to imply that academics are afraid of you speaking the TRVTH, I have one word for you: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!111eleven!

It's been nice talking to to you.

Be aware of it?

You kooks/crackpots/weirdos, etc won't let us stop thinking about this kind of junk reasoning.

Interesting, and quite possibly true. I also think it's quite possible that she is "in too deep," as the saying goes. Pride may push her to feel that if she quits then that means skeptics win and she loses, and also that perhaps if she quits then that's basically telling the whole world that she always knew she was a fraud and she can't stomach that thought.

Besides, she built the family empire. What would her quitting at such a crucial time do to them? Would they have to admit to being frauds, too?

I know what I'm trying to say; I just hope I made myself understood here!

Somebody in the Sylvia camp did once tell me she can't afford to quit.

I wonder if the Amanda Berry story really has had such an impact. Interesting, anyway.

Or, perhaps more accurately, her family can't afford for her to quit.

Her own version of what my coworkers used to call the "golden handcuffs" - when an employer paid you so much that you could not afford to quit your job.

I think that it just might have been the last nail in the coffin of her career.

We can but hope.

Sylvia's worthless reading even cheaper. I have received an e-mail with the following prices

Light up your 4th of July by scheduling a Phone Reading with Sylvia - $510 or $195 with Chris! Mention our Red, White and Blue Special and save an additional 5%. Call (408) 379-7070 to schedule your appointment!

They have gone up for Chris! Maybe he is getting the hang of it. But poor old Sylvia, keep this up she will be literally poor.

With the additional 5% discount, that would be $185.25 for Chris and $484.50 for Sylvia. That's lower than the "Father's Day Special" price for Sylvia, and $10.25 more for Chris.

Possibly even more significant than the lowered prices themselves is, didn't customers used to have to book these readings months in advance? If you're booked up months in advance, there's no need for holiday specials. So it appears that they have more spare time (and fewer guaranteed future billable hours) these days.

For a short time only Chris is even cheaper! I have just received an e-mail with the following.

Prepare for fall and Schedule a Psychic Reading with Chris. Incredible Special on Phone Readings with Chris NOW $150! Offer expires Tuesday, September 3rd.

Mind you he is still more expensive than psychics here. One service will give you a reading for $1.9 per minute via credit card. For 30 minutes that is $57. Another service charges $3.95 per minute. For 30 minutes that is $118. Prices for the later service is charged to your phone bill.

If you stop and take a look at the things Browne says and does, she would be quite funny if she didn't hurt so many people.

We know that delusionauts exist.

Perhaps if we all hold out, we can enjoy "readings" for the low low cost of one stale thick slice of bread and a half a tin cup of lukewarm baked beans. For Chris, a small wedge of hardened cheese.
