I LOLed at what was to me a novel way to say "shut up", even though it was homophobic.
So, then, somebody with a lot of work to do shouldn't have somebody else do a mundane task that allows them to carry out their job better?
That's what this is all about, nothing more, nothing less. It is an appalling attack on the commander in chief of the armed forces and is clearly deliberately making an issue up out of nothing.
There can be no doubt here, this is utter, total nonsense, and an intentionally dishonest attack on the commander in chief, in an attempt to derail his ability to lead.

Indeed, criticizing the presidents umbrella is actual treason, because it impairs his functionality as leader and diminishes the standing of the nation. Anyone who says anything bad about the umbrella is worse than a billion Hitlers.

Now, now, who said "treason"? This is a deliberately manufactured issue, one that is obviously intended to make it harder for Obama to lead. Do you disagree? Really?
I rather think that rant was not intended to be homophobic, rather it was intended to insult someone who holds homophobic positions. But of course I don't know the individual, and it could be sincere as well.
But consider, saying that to somebody who doesn't mind it isn't an insult of any particular strength. Saying to somebody who is a homophobe, on the other hand, will be taken as an insult.

"Carry as part of a uniform" is quite different than "carry" or "hold."
An injured marine is certainly not part of the uniform, but marines typically carry their fellows to safety. Pubic lice are also not part of the uniform, but marines are not prevented from carrying them and many do. Many marines carry a bible to chapel.
The regulation is more about what a commander can and cannot authorize as part of the uniform, not about what marines can hold in their hands. This prevents the creative platoon leader from having his troops wear Mickey Mouse hats at Disney Land or have them all put on wigs for the Marine ball.
There are differences in male and female uniforms. Females are allowed some items that males are not. For example, girl marines can typically carry a tune, while male marines are less able to. (That last is strictly anecdotal.)
