What is the asterix for?
A footnote I deleted, amusingly enough about how Kochanski might say the same thing about economics.
Cool, I can comment on every religion except Islam.
You can comment on any religion you'd like. You just have to be aware that criticizing a marginalized group can contribute to societal norms that tolerate or encourage violence and discrimination against that group. Since I live in a country that has normalized discrimination and somewhat destigmatized violence against muslims or people seen as muslims, I'm going to be very careful to ensure any criticism of islam is targeted and accurate, and I'll speak out against people making generalized or inaccurate criticisms.
Oh, dear. It turns that, where I live, convicted sex offenders are sometimes subject to violence and discrimination, and they're certainly in the minority. Should I refrain from criticizing rape, pedophilia, sexual assault . . . ?
I actually am uncomfortable with the vitriol I see against sex offenders, especially because the sex offender registries list covers such a wide range of offenses. Again, targeted and accurate criticism of horrible things is fine.
Just what books would A+ members recommend people to read?
I've actually recently heard of this great book by Jonathan Haidt.
