Biblical Flood? Fish, squid, and shrimp fossils in the mountains of Lebanon and Peru

If the story of the flood is correct, then surely with the chaos that was happening, and continents zipping aroung like racing cars, the water - salt and/or fresh - would have been so polluted as to kill all marine life anyway?

Sorry - don't know what came over me....

Must have been the inspiration of god making you type the truth even when you didn't want to. It's like that burning in the bosom thing, no accounting what will happen when you get hot tits.

Okay, unbeliever, here's how it actually happened:

1) Noah had aquariums on board the ark - both freshwater and saltwater - along with the land animals.

2) As the saline floodwaters were receding, he emptied out the saltwater aquariums into them.

3) When he hit ground at Ararat, he and his sons released some of the freshwater species into local rivers as soon as there had been enough rain to wash away the deposited salt.

4) For many years thereafter Noah's descendants traveled to distant lands, as humans repopulated the world, bearing with them the sacred freshwater aquariums and releasing fish, mollusks, etc. into rivers as they went.

Now, see, that explains everything. And if you find this explanation satisfactory, I have a real estate deal I'd like to propose to you. See, I own this bridge in the city of New York. I can let you have it, cheap. Let me know if you're interested.

Being left out in the open like this could have caused decomposition much like the American buffalo which left few fossils in spite of numbering in the multi-millions.
This isn't true. Bison antiquis is an index fossil for the Rancholabrean. The species evolved essentially wholesale into the modern bison (it's called a chronospecies). That means that in reality, we have a rather large number of bison fossils (a lot of horn cores, oddly enough).

There's nothing mysterious about it.
There's a fringe theory that oil is abiotic in origin--the mechanisms change with the researcher, but the basic thought is that the mantle and crust and groundwater and such interacts to form oil. It's not exactly pseudoscience--there are actual scientists looking into this idea--but it's right on the boundary between science and pseudoscience. Personally, I think it's crap. The idea explains a few interesting data points, but doesn't address all the data the biotic theory of origin does.

You forgot the shoots where the animal excrement flows upward and then overboard (no, I'm not making that up; it's an argument that was made on this forum).

I have a buyer, need to know daily traffic and possible schedule of tolls.

Logically, if this flood happened, we would find several areas where skeletal remains of land animals are mixed with those of marine creatures
When the water receded, the marine life would continue to go where the water was and would still be alive and thus not mixed with the skeletons. The skeletons could have been broken apart by bull sharks (capable of living in salt and fresh water) and other sharks and also broken up by waves pounding on the shore as the water receded. Those skeletons that remained, if any, could have ended up like the millions of buffalo skeletons(there are few buffalo fossils in spite of multi-millions of buffalo) dissolving on the ground as they are exposed to the hot sun, decomposition, and other animals.

Not only that, it would also be full of sediment.

The sudden and violent upwelling from the deep of the three billion cubic kilometres of water [*] required to cover the earth to near the height of Mt Ararat (about 5000m) would have stirred up many millions, perhaps billions of tonnes of sediment.

Then, as the flood waters drained or evaporated away, all this sediment would then have settled on the dead remains of all the creatures that had been on the Earth and missed Noah's boarding call when the flooding began.

If we suspend our disbelief further, and accept the creationist view that fossils all formed in the 4000 years since the flood, and accept the measured sedimentation rates of between 1 and 50 cm per 1000 years, then we would expect to find fossilized remains of a mixture of all the species on the Earth in a single sedimentation layer between 4cm and 2m below the surface, all over the land area and current seabed of our planet.

This layer of mixed fossils has been found to exist NOWHERE on any part of the Earth.

[*] NOTE: The total volume of water on the earth currently is about 1.38 billion cubic km. As stated earlier, the amount required to cover the Earth to the height of Mt Ararat is a FURTHER 3 billion cubic km. No creationist has yet been able to explain where this water went. It certainly did not go underground, or it would have been found by now.

If all the marine life was still alive, where the heck did all the fossils in your OP come from? If those were fossils kicked up by your impossible volcanoes, Tim's question holds. Why are only marine fossils kicked up by your impossible volcanoes?

I swear, your attempts at explanations get funnier the longer this goes on...

This assumes that no marine life died in the flood. Didn't you speculate earlier that the marine life devoured the remains of terrestrial life?

As I said earlier, they could have already been fossilized before the flood, and stirred up during the "breaking up of the fountains of the great deep" (the wording used in the bible). If they were located in the great deep, land skeletons would not be mixed with them. Since they were fossilized and encased in rock they would have lasted whereas the skeletons of land animals and humans would not have survived for the reasons given in post 1048.

According to the biblical account, dog wanted to wipe out everything in the global flood, with the exception of Noah's ark. Did Noah have aquaria?

And who ate all the dead animals and people? Couldn't be sea creatures, dog killed them all.

If Noah had aquaria on the ark, I want to see the whale tank.

BTW, did you know that Noah refused to let vultures on the ark?

When they approached the ark they were carrying two dead rats each for provisions and Noah said "Sorry, only one piece of carrion per passenger."

Hey don't the Pharaoh and me get a nod?

Yet, we have examples of fossilized land animals. So clearly, the process is possible for land animals and NOT just marine life. As such, your comment above is simply wrong.

....All of this hassle, just so noah could have sex with his daughters.

You do realize the vast majority of marine life forms do not live in "the great deep" but close to shore, yes?

How about commenting on post 1014 and post 1049 and taking up my challenge in post 875

Why are you afraid to address these issues?

Why are you afraid to declare your hand and say exactly what you believe?

You can't keep ignoring these issues and questions and pretending it will all go away. YOU started this thread so YOU need to justify what you have proposed. Either

1. state your position clearly, address the issues raised, and answer the questions put to you, or

2. admit you cannot prove your proposition, namely, that fish, squid, and shrimp fossils in the mountains of Lebanon and Peru are evidence that the Noachian Flood really took place as per the biblical account.

You need to do one other the other of the above if you don't want your already fragile credibility further undermined.
