If the story of the flood is correct, then surely with the chaos that was happening, and continents zipping aroung like racing cars, the water - salt and/or fresh - would have been so polluted as to kill all marine life anyway?

Now, see, that explains everything. And if you find this explanation satisfactory, I have a real estate deal I'd like to propose to you. See, I own this bridge in the city of New York. I can let you have it, cheap. Let me know if you're interested.
This isn't true. Bison antiquis is an index fossil for the Rancholabrean. The species evolved essentially wholesale into the modern bison (it's called a chronospecies). That means that in reality, we have a rather large number of bison fossils (a lot of horn cores, oddly enough).DOC said:Being left out in the open like this could have caused decomposition much like the American buffalo which left few fossils in spite of numbering in the multi-millions.
There's a fringe theory that oil is abiotic in origin--the mechanisms change with the researcher, but the basic thought is that the mantle and crust and groundwater and such interacts to form oil. It's not exactly pseudoscience--there are actual scientists looking into this idea--but it's right on the boundary between science and pseudoscience. Personally, I think it's crap. The idea explains a few interesting data points, but doesn't address all the data the biotic theory of origin does. There's nothing mysterious about it.
You forgot the shoots where the animal excrement flows upward and then overboard (no, I'm not making that up; it's an argument that was made on this forum).TimCallahan said:Okay, unbeliever, here's how it actually happened:
Okay, unbeliever, here's how it actually happened:
1) Noah had aquariums on board the ark - both freshwater and saltwater - along with the land animals.
2) As the saline floodwaters were receding, he emptied out the saltwater aquariums into them.
3) When he hit ground at Ararat, he and his sons released some of the freshwater species into local rivers as soon as there had been enough rain to wash away the deposited salt.
4) For many years thereafter Noah's descendants traveled to distant lands, as humans repopulated the world, bearing with them the sacred freshwater aquariums and releasing fish, mollusks, etc. into rivers as they went.

When the water receded, the marine life would continue to go where the water was and would still be alive and thus not mixed with the skeletons. The skeletons could have been broken apart by bull sharks (capable of living in salt and fresh water) and other sharks and also broken up by waves pounding on the shore as the water receded. Those skeletons that remained, if any, could have ended up like the millions of buffalo skeletons(there are few buffalo fossils in spite of multi-millions of buffalo) dissolving on the ground as they are exposed to the hot sun, decomposition, and other animals.Logically, if this flood happened, we would find several areas where skeletal remains of land animals are mixed with those of marine creatures

As I said earlier, they could have already been fossilized before the flood, and stirred up during the "breaking up of the fountains of the great deep" (the wording used in the bible). If they were located in the great deep, land skeletons would not be mixed with them. Since they were fossilized and encased in rock they would have lasted whereas the skeletons of land animals and humans would not have survived for the reasons given in post 1048.If all the marine life was still alive, where the heck did all the fossils in your OP come from? If those were fossils kicked up by your impossible volcanoes, Tim's question holds. Why are only marine fossils kicked up by your impossible volcanoes?...

According to the biblical account, dog wanted to wipe out everything in the global flood, with the exception of Noah's ark. Did Noah have aquaria?
And who ate all the dead animals and people? Couldn't be sea creatures, dog killed them all.
If Noah had aquaria on the ark, I want to see the whale tank.
BTW, did you know that Noah refused to let vultures on the ark?
When they approached the ark they were carrying two dead rats each for provisions and Noah said "Sorry, only one piece of carrion per passenger."
Brilliant!!!!
Meh, if I had sex only once in my life that would kill me too.
