Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

I heard the Aunt interviewed on NPR. She basically said that she thinks that they didn't do it (marathon bombing) and that she needs to see proof that they did. She said "I need to see the pictures first". So she totally sidestepped the point about them being murdering terrorists. They didn't do it, she says.

Either you are doubting that this is really their mother, for which you should have a good reason but haven't any, or you really don't understand what a source is or are just trying to be obnoxious. The mother's statement is relevant information regardless of who interviews her and you don't have to alert anyone to "bias" she might have. Of course she has, do you really think anybody doesn't grasp this here?

poor woman can't believe her little boys would commit such a horrible crime.

Im sure Hitler's mother would have felt the same way.

There were reports of blod spots earlier. Could have bled to death hidden behind a basement boiler somewhere.

A deer hunter would follow the blood right to the specific basement.

So no cop can say "That's the house he went into and he really can't be anywhere else right now."???

What a brain-dead woman. She even admitted she hasn't seen her wonderful nephews in 5 or 6 years (essentially not even knowing them and what kind of young men they have turned into) but they could have never, ever done this sort of thing.

Head, meet arse.

Wow. Holy crap. Listening to this all day on the radio thinking it was all coming from a Hollywood script.......Wow.

I'm betting he doesn't make it out of this alive.

Can anyone confirm or deny if there are any accomplices arrested as was reported earlier?

In fairness to her, what would you say if it turned out it had been your nephews? I can't really blame the lady for not wanting to believe it (Note I haven't listened to the interview, just going on what you guys are saying).

In hungry desperation he might decide that some of his flesh isn't really necessary and cut it off and eat it for some quick energy burst.

A few hours ago, northbound Amtrak northeast corridor trains resumed running as far as the Route 128 stop a few miles south of Boston.

That makes more sense. Cutting off everything northeast of NYC made it seem like some kind of regional WMD threat was going on; didn't seem reasonable for a case of homemade pipe bombs.

I realize it's normal reaction for family and friends to want to deny the possibility that the accused did harm. However, the police couldn't even get close to the perps to even simply question their involvement because they were too busy shooting and throwing grenades at them.

Reality is reality.

Interesting article by The Atlantic

In the middle of the last night's nearly unbelievable turn of events, for a few hours, hundreds of thousands of people received a message about the identity of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers that was painfully false. Word got out that the Boston Police Department scanner had declared the names of the two suspects.

But the names that went out over first social networks and then news blogs and websites were not Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, which the Federal Bureau of Investigation released early this morning. Instead, two other people wholly unconnected to the case, became, for a while, two of America's most notorious alleged criminals.

This is the story, as best as I can puzzle it out, about how such bad information about this case became widely shared and accepted within the space of a couple of hours before NBC's Pete Williams' sources began telling the real story about the alleged bombers' identities.

The story begins with speculation on Twitter and Reddit that a missing Brown student, Sunil Tripathi, was one of the bombers. One person who went to high school with him thought she recognized him in the surveillance photographs. People compared photos they could find of him to the surveillance photos released by the FBI. It was a leading theory on the subreddit devoted to investigating the bombing that Tripathi was one of the terrorists responsible for the crime.
