Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Why not? Mohammad Atta's father still thinks his son was a patsy and 9/11 was done by the Jews.

Sorry, I wasn't really trying to comment on a father defending his sons, rather that the father left the U.S. to go back to a place that Arcade had mentioned was a place that the terrorists were in numbers.

I'm trying to understand why 2 kids who by all reports had access to good schools, good quality of life, etc... would blow people up. Maybe the father had something to do with it?

ETA after all he asked for and received asylum in the U.S., so why give that up?

This thread runs fast, forgive me if this isn't news: RT had their mother from Dagestan on and she repeats what the father said ("set-up") and additionally alleges that she had been in constant contact with the FBI about the older brother who she says they were afraid of because he "was a leader" but also "a good boy".

Is that the guy who says his kid is in medical school? And whose brother calls his kids losers?

Sounds *********** legit, bro, thanks for drawing that moron to our attention.

That was very sad. Very very hard for a mother

Russia Todays promotes a conspiracy theory. I am shocked...SHocked.....

How is that a "conspiracy theory"? It's a statement from their mother and if true could mean that the guy was not an unknown to the FBI and maybe even lead to so many people's wet fantasy that this has to be some organized Muslim conspiracy. Maybe listen to it before spreading the usual one-liner platitudes.

My sons were such good boys, and not losers.

Allah Akbar.

Thanks for posting CE! Rock solid **** as usual.

I'm not aware that they are here. I may be misinformed, but I believe that there is nothing illegal about listening, but it is illegal to act upon anything you hear. Of course, I suspect they're digital here now as well.

I think we are both wrong. It's not illegal to own a scanner, but it is to use it to listen to anything other than general reception transmissions:

Question: Am I breaking the law by owning a scanner?
Answer: No, but you should not use one to listen to frequencies other than general reception transmissions.
Question: Can I get a licence to use a scanner?
Answer: No, there is no scanner licence. You do not need one for a scanner.
Question: Could I get authority to listen to emergency service transmissions, for example? I am interested and might be able to help.
Answer: No, authority is reserved for people acting under statutory authority. If you wish to listen in to messages, you should obtain the permission of the person sending them.
Question: Isn't it all right to listen as long as I don't pass on what I hear?
Answer: No, using radio equipment to listen in is an offence, regardless of whether the information is passed on.
Question: Isn't this all a bit heavy?
Answer: No. No-one likes their private or business conversations to be listened to. Parliament has passed these laws to protect the privacy of radio users.

ETA Police use digital encryption now, so they would be useless anyway.

If he is taken alive, this guy will have one of the most impressive indictments in US Legal history
4 counts of Murder in the First, and that is just for starters.....

Using Russia Today as a source really goes over well here.

Either you are doubting that this is really their mother, for which you should have a good reason but haven't any, or you really don't understand what a source is or are just trying to be obnoxious. The mother's statement is relevant information regardless of who interviews her and you don't have to alert anyone to "bias" she might have. Of course she has, do you really think anybody doesn't grasp this here?

I suspect the "in contact with the FBI" part which some are grasping is talking about the last few days, not prior to the bombings.

Rolls eyes.

Mother saying her boys are good boys is "relevant"? On what *********** planet, CE?

the parents sound like a couple of idiots.

Thanks for posting, though.

How in the heck is this kid avoiding detection?

He must have went and killed himself somewhere... if not... man he must be tired.

Ah, I was going on the old chestnut about how the police used their radios to concoct a story about a UFO, then charged everyone who turned up at the (remote and night-time) location. Probably was never true, but makes an amusing story.

There were reports of blod spots earlier. Could have bled to death hidden behind a basement boiler somewhere.
