Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Is the US helping one side over in Russia/Chechnya? I can't remember if we are "helping out" over there.

I think the US is "helping" Russian in its counter-terrorism efforts. By "helping" i mean it shares some intelligence on transnational terrorists movements in the region, money transfers and so on. Nothing major at all.

I hope this all ends well because it could have started so very much worse.

Remember this movie line ?

"I'm not afraid of the man who wants ten nuclear weapons... I'm terrified of the man who only wants one."

:(

I'd have to call that spin.

We have a while to wait but I'd say... if they brought their grievance with them, and they've only been here a year or so, then their perspective is that of a foreigner.
They may be in the US legally. I doubt they brought their grievances with them, as has been remarked here, it would be more logic to attack Russia. They also did not make any demands or furthered any political/religious agenda, contrary to the definition of terrorism. They just seem like scum.

Terrorism is the systematic use of terror, often violent, especially as a means of coercion. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror); are perpetrated for a religious, political or, ideological goal; and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians).

I wonder what the conspiracy theorists will make of this? Did the authorities plant the bomb because they want to invade Chechnya, or maybe because they want an excuse to put cctv cameras in all public areas?

I already admitted this error. Originally, I was under the mistaken impression that the FBI was requesting that people analyze photos and give those analyses to them. Checkmite corrected me on that point.

My criticism now lies mainly with those in this thread who were attempting to do their own haphazard photo "investigations".

1. Go to local hardware store
2. Buy some timber, nails and concrete
3. Build a bridge

I'm sure you can work out #4 for yourself!

Since Chechnya is officially part of Russia, that's so far fetched even conspiracy theorists wouldn't put that one forward...

Probably is a bit far fetched even for them. Must have been so they can take away citizens rights then.

So they are from Russia and not Chechnya then?

I don't really know what you mean. Chechnya is a practically independent republic in the Russian Federation. If they were born and raised by Chechen parents outside of Chechnya they would still be considered Chechen.

They have been here several years if the info coming out is correct.

So what set them off?
From business insider: A page on VK.com (A Russian Facebook) bears the same name (with different transliteration) as the suspect.

Not only that, but also the birthday matches that provided by the FBI. It would be one major coincidence if physical looks and birthday are the same but they're different persons with slightly different transliterations.

Since when does something being "so far fetched" ever disqualify it from being considered by conspiracy theorists? (Hint: Energy beam weapons from space destroyed WTC.)
