Thanx for the link. I believe I see the point you are trying to make. My response is that I do not believe that God created the world in 6 days...based on the evidence. But, that doesn't prove to me that there is no God. Nor does it prove to me that we are not here for a reason.
Oh, Robin, you missed my point entirely!
Forget god or God or Siva or Thor or whomever. (Although you seem to be discussing a Christian Jesus-based God, that isn't the issue I wanted to discuss.) Forget how many days.
Is the
purpose of the universe to give humans a place to exist while they move toward / evolve / develop / improve / "perfect" (verb, not adjective) / etc? That's the teleological aspect.
What is the
reason we are here, and how do you know?
There was another thread recently about the expressions like "everything happens for a reason." It is used in the same sense of "purpose" that you maintained above. Where is the proof of this?
"Wow that was a horrible accident, but I didn't even get a scratch! God must have been looking out for me." Yes, but God let the three-month baby in the other car burn to death. Huh?
As I said earlier, I DO NOT believe you are a shill for JE. But you are seriously underestimating things like confirmation bias, and overestimating your ability to see through the tricks.
And I will repeat that I would love to see effects like telepathy and telekinesis demonstrated in replicable, double-blinded, statistically-rigorous, controlled-against-cheating experiments.
And that does NOT mean that they would be "rigged" so that no one could win.
I probably put too much into one post, but I don't have time to edit it properly.* Sorry about that; do the best you can with understanding it.
*That is a paraphrase of a famous quote, Robin. Can you identify the proper quote and the author?
Please, if others know it, don't post the answer.
