Well, thanks for all the replies. I usually don't get to sit at the "cool girls" table for lunch.

With respect to a group that is utterly consumed with the magical import of words and phrases, when they make such elementary mistakes, yes, its funny and serves to illustrate their doodyheadedness quite well.

By and large FMOTL are mentally ill. There are a few con men making money off of the masses but almost all of the rank and file have severe mental problems. Just a quick look at the Icke site will bear this out. I just don't think it is sporting to make fun of the mentally handicapped. Refuting their ideas and destroying the con men is fair game but I find it somewhat distasteful to ridicule those who don't know better.

Granted, and I do see your point.
However, just as we laugh when kids say the darnedest things, its also funny when deluded adults do.

When my son was 7 or 8 years old we were playing a game of Trivial Pursuit, he and my father versus me. They got a question that went something like "What event in Europe between 1348 and 1351 killed approximately 100 million people?" . My son thinks for a few seconds then jumps up and says "The Black Plaque" (note spelling), to which I, my mother, and my father began laughing hard. My son looked hurt but it took a few seconds before I could get breath to say, "no, no, you're right. Its just that its The Black Plague. " We told him it was good that he remembered reading about it but that there are two words that look very similar, etc., and he was duly pround of himself.

Recent discussions with a man who has a form of dementia and is in hospice care offered several points of jocularity. He remembers everyone but is prone to doing or saying patently off-the-wall things and although its tragic to see a guy who is not yet 70, and who was a bright, hardworking self employed and well off person, reduced to this, some of the things he says or does will have everyone trying hard not to laugh. Sorry I will not relate specifics to avoid having anyone possibly recognize him.

Of course the FMOTL do not recognize theit illness and some of them may actually cause themselves or others harm. It then does less harm to ridicule their public statements and perhaps dissuade a few from following their lead.

Two things of note here;
1) your son will grow and learn and not be stymied by a mental condition the prevents him from doing so
B) "pround"? Ha, ha, ha. that is as funny as "roo the day"

I am not the grand pooh bah of what is good and correct but I think if you want to take the high road then making fun of the mentally ill is just not cricket

I get your point and I didn't think that the misspelling of "rue" was hilarious enough for so many posts, but let's be clear: these people may have certain deficits when it comes to reasoning and critical thinking, but as far as I can tell, the majority of FOTL'ers are not literally mentally ill.

They are delusional (not necessarily in any medical sense), ignorant, prone to narcissism (again, not necessarily in the medical sense), incapable of basic arguments, etc. They are not mentally fit, intelligent folk. And maybe we should be ashamed in making fun of stupid people.

But, I've got to say, their misplaced arrogance often makes it difficult to refrain. I won't poke fun at the sad folks losing their homes on GOODF while still trying desperately to say the magic words to keep them, but folks in less pathetic circumstances, confidently asserting that they understand the real nature of laws, of birth certificates and how court is really a convoluted trust, unlike all those sheeples who merely do as their told? These people seem to beg for ridicule, and I'm afraid that I'm too weak not to oblige.

You make some valid points and again I am not the arbiter of what your behavior should be. I spent some time at the Icke forum arguing with these folks but it became apparent to me that most of them suffered from serious delusions. You cannot fix someone who doesn't understand the basics of finance. You cannot make them understand that the Reptillians don't run the earth. The best you can do is try to discredit the con men and help them to not lose too much. Making fun of them and having "stundies" only helps you to feel better about yourselves. It does nothing to elevate the plight of those less fortunate. If denigrating others makes your lfe a little more worth living then please have at it. It makes me feel creepy.

I don't agree that the believers in FMOTL are mentally ill. However they are deluded, and quite possibly brainwashed to the point where they seem to think they know more about the law, finance etc, than actual lawyers or people who work in finance, and their egos are continually stroked by their peers to the point that they are incapable of accepting any other point of view than their own. I always find it surprising how they accuse us of being "sheeple" who believe all of the "lies" the government sell, even though they blindly believe every single video posted on youtube by the Ceylons, or Rob Menards, or Mary Crofts, or Veronica Chapmans (Chapmen...?) of the world, accepting it as concrete truth without ever questioning it.

I will leave you with a quote, if I may. Someone over in GOODF is trying to have a sensible discussion regarding the source of loan monies. FMOTLers believe that the banks lend us our own money. When told (politely) that this isn't true, the following response is given (note to the mods - I have tried to edit out the obscenities, but I think they are necessary to convey the spirit of what was said):

I'm not making things up; I was trying to prompt you for elaboration (hence the question mark) because it did seem to me like you were saying something contradictory.
 
Not only that he is claiming some 'heart based' electromagnetic EMP Super Power that he is going to use to knock out the lelectric grid and proclaim his new order or somesuch!

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't he do that in the other order? Because without electricity, he'll only be proclaiming this to those within shouting distance.

If you read the quote that you posted you will see signs of mental illness. This type of thinking goes way beyond a conspiracy theory. The are CTs that have a grain of truth to them; I lived through the Kennedy assination. I remember when J.E. Hoover was the second most powerful man in government and when Jimmy Hoffa was one of the most powerful men alive. I therefore do not believe we have all of the knowledge that we should about the assassination. This however is a far, far cry from thinking that reptilians run the word and that you have an unlimited bank account that can be accessed with your birth certificate. To follow that rabbit hole really does require the type of mind that is not working as it should.
