There are several small but very important military/LE oriented manufacuring companies that have announced that they will not do business with governmental entities where civilian firearms possession is restricted - Barrett manufacturing started it when Califonia banned .50 BMG caliber rifles, and because of the current anti-gun legislation hysteria - Smith Enterprises, Larue Tactical and BCM now will not accept governmental orders from states that have enacted firearm restrictions or bans on civilian possession of firearms.

Similarly, Magpul has suspended sales to law enforcement officers:

I have suspended all LE sales to ban states until we can implement a system wherein any Law Enforcement Officer buying for duty use will have to promise to uphold their oath to the US Constitution - specifically the second and fourteenth amendments - as it applies to all citizens.

DHS has hundreds of thousands of employees, many of which are assigned firearms.

If just 100,000 of them are given 100 rounds per week for a year, that's 520 million rounds right there.

It's not enough that you took an oath. You have to take another oath that you really meant it the first time, or I won't sell you stuff.

How exactly is this going to work? Is every clerk going to ask "Are you a cop?" before selling any ammo? Have they bothered to notice that's exactly what drug dealers do? Have they stopped to think what their non-cop customers will think being asked that all the time? Maybe they could all start carrying non-cop badges, that certify they're not cops!

There are enough alternate sources of the same items out there that I don't think LEOs will be hurting.

If that manufaturer wants to reduce his sales, and boost that of his competition let him.
