That's weird, that post originally said "Fools mock, but they shall mourn." Now it reads as above.

Is it not a little dishonest to completely change a post, especially after it has been responded to?

Yes, and more than half an hour later. This is just plain dishonest behavior, though one that follows the example set by the lying Joseph Smith.

Matthew 7:15-20

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I'm as far from being a Christian as it's possible to get, but because the Bible represents a syncretisation of human thought at the time it was written I enjoy quoting it from time to time to demonstrate how far from its ideals some of its alleged proponents have actually wandered.

tl;dr . . .

Geeze there's some hypocrites about.

I've always suspected that it was a made-up load of old bolok.

Interestingly, in his "translation" of the Book of Abraham, Smith gave some pronunciations of what he claimed the papyri stated. Not surprisingly, they're just made-up words with no relation to the Egyptian language.

Dishonest is one thing, but I think the word describing the forlorn hope of the poster who thinks she'll get away with it is even more condemnatory.

You may be right on:

A forlorn hope is a band of soldiers or other combatants chosen to take the leading part in a military operation, such as an assault on a defended position, where the risk of casualties is high.

No. IMO it's a lot dishonest...

A lot dishonest, but the fact that she continues to think she can get away with changing it after boatloads of people have already quoted her is rather hilarious. Perhaps unfairly, I see it as a peek into the mind of a person who can be confronted with the damning destruction basis of her religion, and yet continue to believe.

No dafydd, I mean nothing of the kind.

The Book of Abraham is Holy Scripture containing the word of the Lord to His Prophet Abraham.

Garbage. It's a tawdry fake and your continuing refusal to even consider the evidence against it has elevated your unthinking belief from simple wrongevity to seventh Dan wilful ingnorance.

Great link! Thanks, Janadele. And to think two of my siblings graduated from BYU. What a waste of money.

From the link:
Abraham 3 is one of the most enigmatic sections of the Pearl of Great Price. Teacher and student together sense there is something more to the text than the meaning they are drawing out of it. Each thorough exploration gently nudges another layer of understanding from the text, but we always feel we have unraveled only the smallest portion of what it has to offer. Though I do not pretend to have a great key to unlock this revelation, I believe there are some apperceptive principles that cast light on Abraham’s night vision.

Unintentional honesty for the win!

Tsig's translation:

This is meaningless pig swill but if we drink enough of it we may come to like it.

You have been shown ample evidence that this is not true. Either rebut that evidence or admit you can't. Simply ignoring it and mindlessly repeating a comprehensively disproved claim makes you look very silly indeed.
I do not consider there is ANY evidence that the Book of Abraham is not the word of God, nor could there be.

The "mindless repeating" is from those who continually mock and insult Holy Scripture of which they have no knowledge nor understanding.

Janadele, I don't think it was a good idea to edit this
"Actual LDS teachings, Scripture and Doctrine is the topic of this thread. It is not a "rave fest" for personal insults and declarations of agnostic / atheist beliefs. There are other threads and other sections of the Forum for such matters. "

out of your post

even after it was commented on and quoted in this post

Janadele, why do you put your faith in a con-man?

Rave fest? :sdl:

With that phrase you pretty much cut off all further discussion.
