On today's episode of as the forum turns we have an explanation from the ceepolk on why xie treats newbs like dirt. Cut to a followup post by a poster named mood2 who delivers a backhand slap, nah, a devastating right cross to the ceepolk and the A+ Illuminati in general.

Dog pile !!!!

First on, the typical check your privilege garnished with a read more and a side of the frustrations of walking ignorant noobs through the steps from mod Onanism5

Next item on the buffet of stupid is brought to you by everybody's favourite Flewellyn and it bears quoting

Yeah, sure, but what we have here often is people who think they are informed, but are actually the SJ equivalent of creationists at an evolutionary biology conference, coming in and trying to 'splain to us about how we're wrong about everything.

Yes, comparing noobs to creationists, straight out of the Setar playbook.

Again with the O5, regulars don't have to be nice to noobs because if a regular gets offended by a noob and freaks out, then the noob is obligated bow to the regular whose found something to get offended at. Also, mention of the hours of reading offered in the "gift basket" of links they offer up at A+

I dunno about you but I never read those things, who knows what I agreed to when I installed that thing on my computer last night. I just went yea, yea yea and clicked I agree and it wasn't any three hours of reading either.

The on with the piegasm and a whine about people wanting to discuss things at a "high level" and a "we know better than you"

Some gibberish

Some why don't those ignorant noobs go post in I and A from poster smhll along with an expressed desire to do violent acts.

Then more about check your privilege from O5

And now.....It's happening faster than I can read and report it.

I'd have thought there was a lot of overlap between vegan and SJ. Certainly that's been the case with the vegans I've known. So I'm absolutely boggled that A+ considers vegans to be outgroup.

Being a vegan requires that you actually do something.

Freudian slip?

I wonder what "position of privilege" that poster was veg-splaining from?

Apparently, their error was in being unable to accomodate Kassiane's requirements for trying a vegan diet:

Kassiane said:
This has happened a few times. And everytime it does, it ends up being a whole steaming pile of angry because generally, the preaching is a bunch of ableist, classist BS (whether you're aware that you're speaking from privilege is irrellevant. I'm getting there).

So. Before you go there, a challenge for you: Make a vegan diet plan that meets my needs in terms of nutrition, caloric density, affordability, and ease of putting **** on a plate to eat it. This is a concrete exercise to get you actively thinking about how to concretely implement what you are saying "everyone should do" rather than just assuming everyone can do it if they try hard enough. Convince me.

Needs are utterly non negotiable, with ****ups being from very unpleasant to fatally catastrophic:

-2500-3000 calories a day
-I don't actually have that large a stomach, so this is a challenge if I'm mainlining lard.
-20g or less carbs a day (and that is pushing it), which means all but 80cal are from fat & protein
-no soy
-I'm a champion at setting things on fire. As in, have exploded safety glass.

-must be able to transport to school & work. on the bus.
-no elaborate prep, as I get confused & then pass out before I eat the food. I already work, do school, spend 4h a day on the bus, and have sequencing difficulties. Can't do it.
-if it's slimy (or stringy. or a particular kind of mushy. banana texture is right out) I can't eat it. I throw up (in my case, potentially fatally catastrophic)
-I live on SSI & student loans.

(Emphases mine.)

Well, okay, I guess you're not going to be a vegan, then! (I especially love the way that "no soy" is just dropped in there, with no explanation. WTF not? Are you allergic? Do you hate beans?)

Also, be sure to check out the rude, sarcastic summaries the admins have put over the posts they don't like.

2500 to 3000 calories per day? Is she a marathon runner? And why does it need to be 20g or less carbs? Is this just a very slow suicide attempt?

Alright come up with a vegan meal plan. These are MY non negotiable needs:

Every meal must contain steak and beer.
I only wish to spend $10 per week on food.
The steak must come from a cow which is bred to be pleased to be eaten.
It must be hand delivered by a half naked model. You may choose which half is the naked half.
I will accept a substitute for the steak once each week of lobster, spicy curry or unicorn shanks. BUT ONLY ONCE!
No wax beans. Wax beans are icky.

NOW CAN YOU MAKE ME VEGAN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?1/1e32rm;naosdhvaldf

Check out the latest pile-on of the target d'jour at A+, mood2. But as with marinerachel, mood2 is willing to rebut their vainglorious belief that any who disagree with them are simply ignorant and/or have some nefarious agenda.

I'm beginning to think A+ is some kind of cautionary tale for the atheist, skeptic, and social justice communities. I've seen plenty of intellectual arrogance online, but there's about a dozen on that site that continue to set new precedents. :jaw-dropp

Atheism Plus

I think Atheism+ may very well represent the most terrible community on the Internet that actually doesn't think they're terrible. Most places that screwed up at least acknowledge that they're crude or nasty or evil, but here we have a group of people spending their time hurting others and society while actually believing themselves to be doing good. Genuinely tragic.

One of the (many) ironies about that place is the unexamined fact that being able to spend half your life absorbed in sophomoric internet bickering and blogfarting means you're already in the top one or two percent of most privileged human beings that have ever drawn breath.

Whether these spoilt ******* American college kids ever end up in a teepee together, competitively vagsplainin' that it isn't their turn to shave the tofu is not a topic I would seek to raise.

Rancid muffs!

The amount of resources devoted by law enforcement to tracking down people who make threats is proportional to the threat they represent. A message from Germany to the US saying that someone deserves a raping is not going to warrant much investigation, whereas a message from an ISP in Las Vegas saying "I am going to rape you at TAM" probably is. A message saying "I am going to bomb TAM" is likely to garner an even greater response.
While international enforcement of laws against such threats varies, you may be surprised at how seriously some places take such threats, even when they're unlikely to be acted on.

Shortly after Columbine, a lot of my goth friends started receiving death threats from various sources. One of said friends is a computer security professional. He did a quick investigation on one of the threats he received via email, tracing it back to a university in Canada, which he reported to the Canadian authorities. While there was little chance of it being acted on (my friend lives on the west coast, the uni where the threat was traced to is o the east coast), last he heard, the guy had been arrested for the threat (never found out what happened to him after that).

Depending on the nature of the threat, it may violate the laws of the country where it originated, and reports are often taken quite seriously.

The link is not working for me. Did they flush the post down the memory hole?

Well it's certainly taken more seriously in Canada if it's a human rights issue, like if the threats were because of race, religion or sexuality. Which university was it, do you recall?

Why should any of that make a difference? Is there some reason to believe that threats of that sort are more likely to be carried out?

I urge all the people who whinge in Forum Management about how oppressive JREF's moderation is to hop on over to A+ to see real forum fascism in action.

And I urge all the people who whinge in USA Politics about how oppressive the US government is to hop on over to North Korea to see real government oppression in action.

Accordingly, I will now be responding to all new government oppression threads in USA Politics with "North Korea, therefore your argument is invalid."

Also, I urge JREF forum moderators and admins to adopt a similar policy in Forum Moderation: "A+ forums, therefore your argument is invalid."

Just sayin'. :P

I think you may have actually hit on the one positive thing about A+
