What a silly question! We need God to answer those questions that we are not capable of answering due to our limitation which is given by our sorrowful origin - we are transformed apes. For example, well, let me adjust my curiosity w. r. t. the kind of populace that frequents this forum. For example, I want to know how long it would take before religions of this world go extinct. Should I ask a sociologist?

Phew. I can ask as well the squirrel in the tree. And that's why we need God who is omniscient and who won't give us that educated blank stare.

Heavenly Father, can I ask you a question?

What question?

Um, I thought that you would know beforehand what I wanted to ask you...

Oh, you mean that question about how long it would take before religions disappear, right?

Yes.

Let me see... Well, the religions won't disappear overnight - it will take some time before they dissipate.

Yes, I know that it won't happen overnight. I just want to know how long it would take.

In that case you must look at the ending, not at the beginning of religions.

Duh!
Oops. I apologize for my incivility.

That's alright. Don't worry about it. So let's take a look at the ending: RELIGIONS.

That sucks. I was hoping to see them go faster. But now I see it would take ions before the world gets that so much needed relief. Well, thanks anyway.
You know, you're so smart, so omniscient...

Am I? :)

Some folks say that you may be of female gender.

Really? :):)

Can I...?

Don't touch me! epix, stop it! Come oooon! Don't.........NO!........no ...............no:).........:)...........:jaw-dropp.......:):):)....

So, folks, God is indeed a woman. I had reeeaaaally hard evidence, but I don't have it now, so I can't show it to you.

@epix

Don't know what you've been taking, but you can have my share of it.

But now I see it would take ions before the world gets that so much needed relief..

Why would it take an atom or a group of atoms that has acquired a net electric charge by gaining or losing one or more electrons? Is English your first language?

Interesting technique:
Invent a dialog with a deity.
Author a question in the dialog.
Author an answer to that question. Terribly. And with auditory typos.
Touch that deity inapropriately, and wait for her to like it.
Claim the evidence is limp, at best.

GOD: #Answers
Nothing
No
No
Yes
Sometimes
No
Do what it takes to survive
And yes Pigs are freaking de-lish

Why mankind appears to need a god (or multiple gods) is an intriguing question. However, the question as framed seems to be relating to the planet Zog and not to earth, so I'm afraid I can't help with an answer.

I'm not even sure I understand the question.

I'm not even sure there is a question.

Mike

Well, I'm sorry that the OP was so silly, as I was talking to a believer friend only yesterday and she was saying that God-belief fills a need in people. Unfortunately, she does not like to carry on the discussion so it would have been interesting to have one here.

Questions answered by science - just about everything we have asked.

Questions answered by any of the thousands of gods - nil

Kind of shy, these god people.

What I've always found particularly impressive by Judeo Christian religion is how much of it's many details are concerned solely with constantly discouraging doubt or critical thinking rather than offering truths. It alludes to vague undefined truths which the mind of the subscriber sees as gaps for their own convictions to fill in. It's really amazing how concerned this religion is with actually taking doubt and natural curiosity and using it as a means of bolstering the religion in a remarkable system of circular logic and rhetorical platitudes. It even takes dogmatic close minded thinking and elevates it as a virtue by giving it a name like "faith".

It goes to show how the meme of religion is honed through a system like natural selection through the centuries by people trying to get themselves to believe something that is not real in the face of all the evidence to the contrary.

Is your question directed to me or to God(ess)? She speaks English but I'm not sure how she shorts numerals. MILLIONS? I never asked a similar question that you did. Why would it take an atom or molecule which has gained or lost one or more of its valence electrons, giving it a net positive or negative electrical charge? Actually, I didn't ask that, because God(ess) would start to marvel over my readily accessed knowledge and could decide that Man no longer needs her omniscience to assist him in his scientific and technological progress. Just imagine the consequence of being stuck with Windows 8 forever and ever. Oh, nooooo!

I've got it. You don't know the difference between an ion and an eon. What your post means is anybody's guess.

You are providing a brilliant lesson on how belief in magical things and invisible beings stunts one's understanding of objective reality and of the natural world.

I encourage you to continue.

Religion has been doing that for many ions.

Bummer that. Wish you would've.

You can't blame an imaginary god for your lack of a scientific education. Ions and eons are two different things, ask your god, he'll tell you.
