School shooting: but don't mention guns!

they got in my house by the garage door, they had an opener and were driving up and down streets pushing it and waiting for garage doors to open. needless to say i have since altered the frequency settings from the factory default

The gun didn't really stop them, eh?

this debate is silly, guns aren't going to be banned, maybe some new laws making it a bigger PITA for law abiding people to buy them will be passed. But in the long run, bad guys will get guns legal or no, and the elbow patch jacket crowd will still tut tut about how it's all the fault of the "gun nutters".

I'm sure guns won't be banned. I actually don't care. The reasons gun nutters give for wanting to own guns, however, never impressed me. I also can't understand why some people become so emotionally attached to their guns.

Neither do I. But killing an intruder is undoubtedly effective. Most non-lethal weapons don't actually incapacitate the target, they just make it easier to subsequently physically dominate the target. And that works well for police, for example. But it doesn't work nearly as well if you're physically weak: you can't follow through.
I'm pretty sure I could. Possibly would, in fact.

I thought liberals were all about tolerance? apparently some of them are about taking the rights of law abiding citizens away due to the actions of a tiny minority of bad/crazy people.

Why not focus these crazed red eyed efforts on trying to identify high risk people sooner? Rather than using sad events like today as a weapon to further an agenda?

Apparently knives are dangerous

Two conclusions could be drawn from this:

1.) If he had a gun those would have been 23 dead people, thank God, let's ban guns!

2.) Anyone can make anything a weapon, we need to have a serious discussion on why mass relation happens, as a global society.

Gun or not, he would've still hurt somebody.

Go ahead. Tell us how to identify who are the high risk people.

Gun control advocates agenda IS to prevent sad events like this.

Are you advocating increased monitoring and evaluation of the populace by the government/law enforcement/Illuminati?

They say they want to keep guns out of the hands of the crazy people. I agree. All people wanting to own guns should be evaluated, frequently, for mental health.

So your proposed solution is not an option for a lot of people

You're kidding, right? Do you have any idea of how ridiculously expensive that would be?

Steel bars can be used as well.

Again, not for most rented residences. Same with your bullet-proof glass,

Neither will a gun.

The point of the gun is not to keep them out (that's your own little straw man), it's to protect yourself and your family if they get in.

I thought it was to shoot the bad guys.

I have a hard time thinking that gun owners at home are always holstered or armed, just waiting for a home invasion.

Then you have the problem of; "who is going to pay for that?"

First of all, I'm not sure what good that would do in a situation like this. He used his mother's guns, who, was as far as we know, a perfectly sane, law-abiding person. What kind of screening process do you propose to prevent crazy people from simply acquiring guns from non-crazy people?

Secondly, I don't see why the burden of such an effort need fall on those who oppose guns.

You know what would be nice for a change?

The gun advocates making a real, concerted effort to actually address this problem in a meaningful way, instead of reflexively becoming defensive about their rights.
