Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

So you too allege a conspiracy between Zimmerman's defense and the prosecution, correct? The prosecutor is just putting on a show to appease the lynch mob, but the plan is to get him off the hook?

Can you expand on this?

What lynch mob are you talking about? And in this case, I find the use of the term "lynch mob" to be extremely offensive. You mean the people who don't believe a single word this lying killer speaks? The man selling his autograph when the only reason anyone knows his name is because he killed a young black man?

I think it matters in a gut reaction, emotion hook way.
I can very easily think a jury would view that picture (and others) and think, "Man, that guy looks taken to task in a hard way. I can understand how someone might need to defend themselves from such a beating."

It raises the bar the prosecution will have to overcome in my opinion.

Fortunately for the prosecution, they have access to Zimmerman's medical records which document the exact nature of his injuries, so the jury won't have to specualate based on a photo.

And even if they wanted to just rely on photos, the prosecution could always provide the one of Zimmerman at the police station about an hour later after he'd been cleaned up, not looking too worse for wear.

And one more that I found interesting and did not see last week:

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...cial-prosecutor-angela-corey-george-zimmerman

It was a strange development in a case that has seen more than its share: Chris Serino, the lead Sanford police investigator in the Trayvon Martin shooting, hired famed Casey Anthony defense attorney Jose Baez to represent him at his upcoming deposition in the case.
The defense is likely to throw Serino some trick questions to make him look like an imbecile. He did, at least at one point, want Z arrested and charged.

Never go to a deposition without an attorney if the adversarial attorney would have something to gain from discrediting you professionally.

There is also the problem, for Z, that his facial injuries are mostly abrasions, that there is no sign anywhere of bruising on his face, that there is no swelling apparent on his face, and that all of those abrasions on his face are oriented along almost exactly parallel axes. Those abrasions would have to have occurred at the same time, and Martin's hands were not that damned big.

Totally consistant with running into a tree branch.

This photo will not swing the case, it will rest upon a number of choices for the jury, the main one being was GZ in reasonable fear of his life?

Now the potential exists for many outcomes but that will be the center of the case.

IANAL

Zimmerman sues NBC Universal:

NBC saw the death of Travon Martin not as a tragedy but as an oppurtunity to increase ratings, and so set about to create the myth that George Zimmerman was a racist and predatory villain.

Their goal was simple: keep their viewers alarmed, and thus always watching, by menacing them with a reprehensible series of imaginary and exaggerated racist claims.

The complaint is available at GZvNBC.com.

I hope the prosecutor is following the chatter on the web. Somebody posterd this recently, and it could be a game-changer, because it calls into question exactly when Z drew his weapon.

Yup, if you disregrad the blood under the firearm and the spots without blood outside the firearm's profile, it fits exactly!

How does somebody's photoshopped image of a gun on the back of Zimmerman's head change anything?

Now, if it was a pancake on his head you'd have something.

George Zimmerman released a statement via www.therealgeorgezimmerman.com:

Why I'm Suing NBC

On the night of February 26, 2012, after enduring a prolonged physical attack from Trayvon Martin, screaming for help countless times and receiving no help, and all the while in fear for my life, I shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense. I did not shoot to take his life, I shot to save my own.

...

However, in the days and weeks following the shooting a story was promoted that I am a racist and a murderer. These untruths spread through the community, the government, and the nation, amplified by a media frenzy seeking ratings over truth. This was no more apparent than when NBC repeatedly edited the recording of a call I made, intentionally misrepresenting me as a racist. Unfortunately, their plan worked, truth suffered that day, and my family and I have suffered every day since. That is why I am filing a lawsuit against NBC. The details of the complaint can be found on a website created by my legal team: www.gzvnbc.com.

What happened that night was a tragedy: a tragedy that NBC exploited, creating an opportunity for profit. I am holding NBC accountable for its actions. If NBC had not spread lies and falsifications about me, this lawsuit would not exist. This lawsuit is a product of NBC's intentional distortion of facts. I do not know, because of my situation, how I will be able to provide for my wife and myself in the future, and so I expect NBC to be held responsible. The unjustified public persecution of me because of NBC's actions is wrong. It shouldn't have happened to me, and it shouldn't happen to anyone.

In the last several months, the prosecutors have released evidence regarding this case, and the evidence speaks for itself regarding my innocence. As this lawsuit moves forward, I hope the existence of this exonerating evidence will be broadcast with at least a fraction of the publicity afforded to the lies and misrepresentations. I deserve that and those who have been misinformed deserve that. However, that will be up to the ethical journalists who will spread the truth without regard or concern for political or social pressure.

ROTFLOL. Please leave the CT's over at leathermans wordpress site.

Better than the fantasies being spun over at the CT.

GZ can sue whomever he likes. It has nothing to do with the state's case against him. Personally, I think NBC and all the other alleged news stations don't report news, they report entertainment.

The marks on Z's head are more consistant with having been hit with the gun, or with having dropped the gun and struggled to recover it, rolling around on the ground, that with having his lumpy head banged on the concrete.

A pancake might just work. If the pancake is the right consistency to represent the skin covering of the back of the skull and is place on a hard curved surface like a watermallon or someone's head, then when hit with various sides of that gun, it would record the points of impact.

In an interview that will air on In Session Friday, Dec. 7, Zimmerman's attorney says he will accept no deal to avoid trial:

George Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, says his client will not accept a plea deal to avoid going to trial on a murder charge in the death of Trayvon Martin.

On Thursday, O’Mara told In Session correspondent Jean Casarez that he would not allow his client to accept a plea deal. “I wouldn’t plea someone who is innocent. So I think the answer is pretty easily no,” said O’Mara.

a motion to modify the terms of his bond.

The defense team is seeking to remove Zimmerman from GPS monitoring, allow him unrestricted travel within Florida and open the possibility of out-of-state travel with court approval. The court will hear this motion, among others, Tuesday Dec. 11 at 9 AM EST.

The marks on Z's head are more consistant with having been hit with the gun

If you want to hit someone with a gun, how would you hold that gun? If you were fighting with someone for control of a gun, how would you hold it? Hell, if you were just trying to pick it up, how would you hold it?

There's more than one possible way, of course, but would you not try to, you know, wrap your fingers around the gun? The theory you're proposing would involve holding the gun flat, with fingers only pressing from the sides, so that the entire flat surface of the gun could be used for impact. I don't find that scenario more likely than the alternative, which is that the resemblance you imagine you see between the gun profile and the wounds on Zimmerman's head is purely coincidental, the result of the human mind's propensity for pattern seeking.

There are some new transcipts of depositions attached as exhibits to that motion. On page 44 Ofc. Santiago reveals that SDP discussed charging one of the 911 callers in relation to the Martin shooting:

We talked about it, I think it was like the last day, the last meeting I was in and we talked about can we even file charges on the guy that dialed 911. I don't know down here in Florida, you're supposed to help somebody and not just watch them, not just stay on with 911, like walk back into your house.

The deposition from Cpt. O'Connor also details how the defense team learned that SPD Investigator Irwin related to him that he was present during the interveiw with Tracy Martin, in which he denied it was Trayvon screaming in the 911 call, and that he disclosed that fact to BDLR weeks before his deposition. The state failed to inform MOM of this fact and Irwin did not disclose it during his deposition.

I'd be interested to hear the professional medical opinions of the ones here that were able to form a diagnosis of GZ from the video stills when he arrived at the police station. I seem to remember some very definite comments and photos of how "real" beating victims looked.

When GZ walks, I can't wait to hear people defending the riots, if anyone cares enough to riot then.

My first vision of this was to use the gun like a hammer. But then, I wasn't thinking of the gun safety aspect of such a move. Much like your vision of wrapping your fingers around the gun to use the broadside as a smashing impliment; while not likely to accidentally shoot yourself with such a move, you haven't thought to get your fingers out of the way of being smashed.
