Bigfoot DNA

JerryWayne, the mods clipped my quote from that article, as it was too long, but the rest of it said that Melba's recent announcement was an attempt to one-up Moneymaker's revelation in tomorrow night's episode of FB that they'd had BF hair analyzed and the DNA says it's definitely BF.

She had her hand forced, so to speak. But one commenter said that FB was filmed months ago and if MM had real evidence, no way he would've waited this long. Another comment quoted some kind of copyright application by Ketchum for a documentary etc. and that app. had the whole shebang of her findings synopsized. It was supposedly from 2008, that's why I asked how long this whole thing has been going on. It was an interesting comment, but I don't know how important it might be. But apparently she's had this whole thing cooked up for some time.

the copyright documents were from 2010.

This current episode of "Bigfoot Survivor Island" is hilarious.

I don't understand how the non-scientist Russian crackpot gets the "leak." How does that happen? why does he use the Paulides expression "white paper?" was it a "leak" or a "plant?" Why would Ketchum bother to respond to that dufus? Is this a new Ketchum publicist or is it back to the old one under an assumed name? Did James Bobo Fay know about this when he said on national television this week that the bigfoot genome had been sequenced? If so, how did he find out? did Paulides plant the leak? did Ketchum?

Is Ketchum just trying to claim "first" in advance of what she thinks Sykes may publish in the next month or so? or trying to scoop Moneymaker's show? or just angling for a cable show gig? The latter makes most sense to me.

Is Ketchum really in Nacogdoches?

Whatever is going on, it's hilarious. It's like a cross between a soap opera and a train wreck and the stuff you shouldn't have left in your refrigerator while you went on vacation.

No I read a reference to a white paper being submitted to a russian magazine.

I haven't.

I suspect that someone has mashed up two completely separate stories and come up with the idea that Ketchum is going to publish in Russia. Unless someone can point me to the source, I suspect this is mis-information being peddled as fact.

In general terms, I believe now is the time for sensible people to keep their powder dry. Don't debunk prior to publication. Don't accept prior to publication. People who do either are taking a gamble with their reputations. There is some incredible speculation happening already, as you would expect, but all this is committed to writing for posterity. Someone will take your words and feed them back to you if you get something very wrong.

So why the press release now? Is this to bounce a reluctant journal into action? Is it a spoiler for someone else who was about to release some information? Is it the last desperate throw of the dice for a study that has come apart at the seams? Or is it part of a carefully planned & co-ordinated campaign around the publication of the peer-reviewed paper? Time will tell.

As for me? Interested. Intrigued. Waiting. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mike

I literally saw a reference to a "white paper" from either Paulides, Melba, or Igor and now it has been removed. I PM'ed Calwaterbear shortly after the release appeared and asked him what the significance of the "white paper" was in this situation, after googling it, and he explained what his take on it was. We both read the same reference, I did not get my references crossed this early in the game.

I do not have a reputation staked on bigfoot's existence and I clearly know something is wrong here, it is so obvious. If there was concrete DNA evidence to be shared it would not be presented in this way. I have no problem being wrong, if that is the case, but I'm pretty certain that I am not wrong about this situation.

I think the timing is related to when Sykes is supposed to be releasing his study results and the need to take advantage of the russian market if opportunities are not as viable here. My only question is how in the heck are the human's that provided the DNA that got labeled as a sasquatch going to feel about all of this if one of them's profile happens to be in a database somewhere? I'ld be absolutely livid having my DNA high jacked for a hoax like this. The folks involved in the study probably thought about that before hand which is why I question whether anything ever got processed in the first place, and if it did, it's probably some known primate's DNA.

Bigfoot is seen as a taboo subject by many scientists.

It's not bigfoot that is taboo, it's accepting the evidence of inept self appointed researchers as an indication that bigfoot exists that is taboo. The taboo is you metaphorically speaking.

Like David Paulides said, it'll be published very soon. I just hope that once the public perception on Bigfoot changes, people will put aside the unhealthy type of skepticism that has been blocking investigation for so long.
I'm afraid that the strong type of gullibility some footers seem to have doesn't help to convince us that we are all living in Wonderland.
Cryptic Nephilim, alien overlords!?...and now angel DNA!??...What a joke bigfootery is.

Sonny2 and Parn - Thanks for putting that together. You have to really watch this thing closely to put all that together. I think you are both spot on.

I'm a little butt hurt. It's all making too much sense.

First of all, all of the claims currently being made by ketchum are pretty spectacular. Just looking at it from the mechanical / work level point of view, she is claiming a whole load of work. I will try to lay it out more completely in a later post, but i am skeptical.

CWB,

My take on the Ketchum thing is it has been a hoax all along. I suspect even more now that two items have been revealed:

1) TheMelba is apparently broke

2) TheMelba reportedly had a funding source that paid hundreds of G's for her work.

My guess is no paper was ever written for submission to an journal. A paper may have been "made up" and sent to the funding source.

I look forward to your comments on what, exactly, the claims in the press release would entail and whether TheMelba would be capable of carrying out such work.

Like David Paulides said, it'll be published very soon. I just hope that once the public perception on Bigfoot changes, people will put aside the unhealthy type of skepticism that has been blocking investigation for so long.

DUDE it hasnt even passed PEER REVIEW yet. DONT YOU GET THAT?

Sy,
skepticism is the scientific method. To boil it down to cliche, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Melba has made extraordinary claims. The scientists are now waiting - and have been waiting for over 3 years , for her to provide proof or evidence of any kind - let alone extraordinary proof!

as for this nonsense of saying scientists see this subject as taboo - i have 2 words for that - Bull and *****
which you could condense into one word if you prefer!

Any scientist would be happy and excited to be involved in a scientific inquiry about BF. But there has to be some evidence to examine. As soon as Melba releases her data, you will see lots of scientists take a good, hard, learned look at her evidence. I suspect you will have to fire up the "denial: fingers in the ears nananana, I cant hear you" mode, as the results of an examination of Melbas data, by qualified scientists - well; i suspect it doesn't end happily for Melba. And it's not personal, it is a completely objective look at the methods used, the data produced, the analysis methodology, and conclusions drawn from that process. Half of all scientific papers submitted get rejected for publication, exactly because they do not meet the standard of review!

And I also suspect she already has had her first taste of that, if she indeed did submit her paper for peer review!

Indeed, that's all I see. What I don't see is why a public relations service would report on a paper that in its own statement has not made it through peer review. Anyone have any insights on that? All I can figure is that it's a user-pay PR service, so they'll promote whatever you submit to them.

Have been catching up while drinking the coffee.

The paper actually mentions "angel DNA"! Apparently Hersom, the gullible fool, was given a paper using this phrase.

No one would submit a paper to a scientific jounal with the phrase "angel DNA" in it. NO ONE.

An investigative reporter type will one day be able to write an very entertaining article/book about this scam.

IMO Melba is not a dumb person and she saw how Meldrum became the 'footer's idol with his weak evidence and imaginary science.
There is no reason she can't do the same, and even replace him as the go-to bigfoot scientist, which I think is her goal.

Mitochondrial DNA? & Hey Parn, clear some space!

tried to Pm you parn, no space available in your box.

As for Mitochondrial DNA Melba is making reference to:
Most of you know mtDNA comes directly from your mother, and you can use it to trace your matrilineal geneology.
Sykes pioneered and perfected the methods and techniques, and used them to show that virtually all of European descent came form 1 of 7 lineages. He also looked at native american DNA, showing 4 different lineages, 3 asian, with one weird little kicker, and also traced back to the cradle of humans, showing something like 22 or 23 lineages. he also worked out the settlement of the pacific islands using this methodlogy. I highly recomend picking up a copy of 7 Daughters of Eve for anyone interested. it lays all this out, but more importantly goes through exactly how you do the science, and the reasons behind the results! Hidden in there is a story told across several chapters, about a colleague who became estranged from Sykes and his labs, and later publically declared and published results that indicated Sykes was wrong. Other scientists asked to see the data, and she refused to provide it. Turns out, 2 or 3 years later, it eventually comes out - exactly as sykes had surmised, and publically stated , that she had made a mistake in her methodology! Sound familiar? I got a kick out of it!

Anyway, apparently Melba got human DNA from the 20 mtDNA sequences. All of them show human . (that made it impossible to continue on down the BF is a seperate species line BTW).
So their contention has to be that human women were hibridized with BF males! thats the only scenario that fits evidence of mtDNA and higbridization (although simple human DNA is a much simpler more likely explanation, but we will set that aside for now)
But of interest to me, are what lineage each of those came from? are they the North American indian lineages? A -D? or are they from the European lineages?

and are they all from the same lineage - which would indicate 1 hibrid event, or at least limited to one familial unit? (if thats your claim) or are they from different clusters? which would indicate widespread hibridization? (Or the much more mundane, different mothers from different parts of the world!

The claim that this event happened 15,000 years ago could not be realistically examined by mtDNA because the rate of mutation is about 1 base pair every 20,000 years. But that brings us back to a very important and interesting question, at least to me. assuming you have some justification (from the nDNA) for the claim of 15000 years ago hibridization. That would have been with the early arrivers on the North American continent, so they should show asian / NA indian matrilineage - no? and if not, what linage does this BF DNA show? did they migrate here with the modern humans?

too much writing - sorry guys

CWB

Exactly, and the whole thing is quickly moving from a kind of fun hobby into a very depressing revelation of human stupidity, lying, cheating, and backstabbing.

It sure has and it's getting worse.
This whole DNA thing still swings on the belief that BF had been killed in the first place, still no evidence about that happening and here we are talking about BF DNA. All one can do is Laugh.

At the Cryptomundo site releasing Igor Burtsev's statement, at the bottom of his statement is, "My assistant in the USA, Megan Wheeler: [email protected]."

I emailed Ms. Wheeler and requested the name of the scientific journal that will be publishing Ketchum's study.

I received a reply email from Robin Lynne, [email protected], Ketchum's media handler.

Ms. Lynne's reply:

Thank you for asking , but at the present time we are unable to cmment or release any more information. We are as eagar as the rest of the world to be able to share this amazing information.

Thanks so much,
Robin Lynne

Robin Lynne?

Isn't Robin Lynne the woman from Michigan that has a family of 10 squatches on her 5 acre property? And didn't she go to Russia on the russian BF cave hoax that disgusted Meldrum so much ? And she then took Meldrum to task for being a non - believer? is this the same Robin Lynn(e) this just gets better and better!

I emailed Dr. Burtsev asking if the DNA study will be published in a Russian journal. Here is his reply:

Dear Sir,

Yes, it supposed to be published in a Russian scientific journal, issued in both versions -Russian and English, end on-line.
When it will be close to issue we shall inform the public how to get it.

Igor Burtsev
