Now I have even more reason to not watch Dr Phil's show.

"Psychic" John Edward is scheduled to appear on the Anderson Cooper Show,
October 18th 2012 (Thursday)

Where I live, the "Anderson" show will be on:
channel for NBC
11:00 AM EST

I believe "Psychic" John Edward is a fraud because of his habitual use of intentional deception for personal gain.

I feel "psychics" share a symbiotic relationship with TV shows such as the Anderson Cooper Show, and the Dr. Phil show (among other types of outlets). They defraud people by pandering to audiences.

Dr. Phil and Anderson Cooper can wield great power and influence, so I find it disgusting and despicable for them to have "psychic" frauds on their shows. As a consumer, I might (wrongly) believe their TV shows are a form of watchdog journalism.

Dr. Phil, and Anderson Cooper- please answer why you have "psychic" frauds like John Edward on your show? In other areas you do some great work, but not with "psychics."
 
Phil's back and at it again. Monday's show is titled "Skeptics Beware: The Psychic Intuitives Are Here." I think he's laughing at us.
 
I think it's the "skeptics beware" part that galls me most, as if skeptics "lose" if a true psychic ever showed up. (Trust me, nothing would thrill and fascinate me more.) In a way, I can sort of understand Dr. Phil having psychics on his show. After all, at the end of the day he's trying to make money, and dollars from the gullible are just as valuable (and probably more plentiful) as those from the skeptical. It may not be particularly admirable, but from a business perspective it's understandable. But to deliberately tweak the noses of skeptics that way just seems so arrogant and anti-science. Pandering to ignorance is bad enough; do you really need to celebrate it?

Bet there will be mention of a book or books by Glynis McCants as a means to provide a financially-rewarding symbiotic platform:
  • "Glynis has your Number" (covering celebrity shtick)
  • "Love by the Numbers" (about finding Mr/Ms Right)

"MUST SEE T.V!! Catch me on the Dr. Phil Show on Mon. Dec3rd" appears on McCants' website as a form of self-promotion when I looked today, Saturday 01 Dec 2012.

and I get the feeling that

Lisa Vanderpump, the "self-admitted skeptic" of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will be presented with such "psychic" and "intuitive" insight that she will become a "believer" on the Dr. Phil Show. I wouldn't be surprised if she comes to "believe" much like the way Dr. Phil Show "Skeptical Staffer" of then-Senior Segment Producer Tami Frymark became a "believer" after a John Edward reading.

Somewhat like a bare handed proctologist but without the training.
