The other day Rebecca banned someone for disagreeing with her about bicycle safety. Her justification was:
Oh hell, now I have to mop coffee out of my keyboard

Hhhmmm, looks like I spoke too soon about A+ being only an annoyance. They are cheering that they managed to force Vacula to resign from his position at the Secular Coalition for America. It looks like they've had their first casualty.
The "possibly" and the "I read the post as a hypothetical" are good. I mean, saying "The cost of being raped was that I lost trust in someone close to me..." is fairly ambiguous, right?
Matt Dillahunty has weighted in on his A+ forum kerfuffle in this longish (22 min.) video. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but the first part is a recap of the incident and he gets to his conclusions starting at about the 13:00 minute mark.
Dillahunty :
Has this incident changed my opinion about Atheism Plus? No. Has it changed my opinion about the A+ forum? Yes. We must be better than this.
A new development with Matt.
They asked him to apologize for the damage he has caused.
This is his reply.

I don't even see how "I thought it was hypothetical" is an excuse. If you behave a certain way toward a hypothetical situation, wouldn't you behave that same way when the situation actually presents itself? I mean, isn't that the purpose of a hypothetical?
Look and behold, sometimes people get along!
This is the exact opposite of the spirit of the plussers.
The banned him and will only reinstate him if he apologizes for the "damage" he has done.
Frigging Hilarious!
Just the way to make friends and allies in the atheist community! Let's piss off a guy with the only atheist tv show in America and who has a large following worldwide via the internet. What a bunch of pathetic morons.

I'm one of the writers on the new network - and the main reason I wanted to join up was BECAUSE its explicit aim was to stay outside the ongoing kerfuffles and write about things like - y'know - atheism and skepticism. It won't always be possible to stay detached from the controversies (eg, Justin Vacula is on the network, is liked and respected, and what recently happened to him was nasty enough that some of SIN bloggers may want to discuss it) but that's the theory, anyway.
What the heck is "classism"?
For the most part of my life I've lived in an affluent, upper middle class neighbourhood. Am I a problem simply because of that?
PRIVILEGE! PRIVILEGE!
We've found a privileged. May we burn her?
I see. That's all good. However, how could the plussers get Vacula (never heard of him) ousted? They are just a bunch of irrelevant Internet personalities.
Not ambiguous. And of course, the reason she was banned? Not reading the assigned material. And the person banning her didn't bother to closely read the post for which she was banned.

In any case, if it's not clear, step one should be ask first, act second.
If I'd been murdered the day I'd been raped the costs would have included never seeing the smile on my first born's face, never seeing my wedding day, never seeing my mother become the highest qualified member of the family, let alone the huge emotional grief to the rest of the family. The cost of being raped was that I lost trust in someone close to me, felt a little icky for a while and had to put up with a few months of solictiors and police as I came to terms with the fact that I didn't have enough evidence to prosecute.
They had this petition, which got over 900 signatures. He wasn't ousted, though, he resigned.
