Merged Sludge smear/Ghetto Bama

Props to the OP for answering my question from the other thread: "what does the right think they've exposed here?"

The answer is in the thread title.

Pretty sad.

Well, they're spinning it right, but I doubt it'll get any traction. Hannity was all over the fact that he speaks in much closer to a black dialect than his other speeches and maintains it for forty minutes. It'll appeal to their audience, but I don't think it'll gain any traction with anyone else.

It's so sad that the Right can't attack Obama's policies, so they keep resorting to this kind of nonsense.

Actually, wasn't 2007 before the primary season? I'm not sure what month this speech was made in?

Which, naturally, raises the question of why the Clinton campaign ignored it, especially right at the heart of the Jeremiah Wright thing in '08.

ETA: Is this the same as the tape Drudge was hinting about?

It is. The Drudge headline links straight to this Daily Caller article.

Yes, lord knows no other candidate has ever altered their speech to appeal to an audience. It just doesn't happen.

Damn you, Obama!!!

The author does so much work just to point out the fact that Obama is black.

Er...did you read the article? It's accusing him of using race to be divisive. Nowhere does it even mention that he's black.

FWIW, I actually agree with Obama here.

Looks like a one-off remark, played for laughs...not an entire speech. If you do have Romney using a Southern accent for an entire speech, I want to see it, because that would be amazing.

Read the whole article. Sounds like a politician adjusting his message to fit his audience to me. Criticize me if you like, but I don't see this as all that much different than Romney's 47% remarks. Don't really see what the big deal is about either....

I hate it when the video is cut right after a remark because I always wonder what was said just after...

Sigh. Called my parents tonight. My mom watches Fox News and reads this Drudge thing. She thinks they verify each other, therefore she's well-informed and totally aware of everything that happens. She also cried some tears of anger because Obama wouldn't answer the phone when the diplomats in Libya called him for air support and that's why they died. My mom is a nice lady, but she is old and crazy when it comes to politics. She will believe every crazy thing Drudge says, and will vote accordingly. And there are millions like her.

Wait, what?

PLEASE tell me that isn't a right-wing meme flying around out there.

Though, at this stage, nothing would surprise me...

This is why I kept asking why people treated Romney's 47% remark like it was earth shattering... strip off the politician and you got a joe (Obama) that's as bickering-partisan as the rest of the country when he's pandering to his.... audience...

Laughable.

Just goes to show how desperate some Republican loudmouths are getting.

What was partisan about it?

Interesting to note that parts of this speech aired on both MSNBC and Fox News in 2007.

Why 'release' it now? What are they trying to point to?

From what I've seen, most RW talking heads are pointing out that it's the first time we're seeing the full video.

Apparently that's supposed to mean something, but I've yet to uncover just exactly what that is...

To give Hannity credit, (OMG, there's a shooting pain up my left arm and my face is freezing over! Someone get my Digitalis!) Juan Williams may have said the stupidest thing any commentator on Fox uttered today. When he should've been saying, "Yeah, a black guy talking to a black audience slips into the vernacular just like when Lyndon and the Little Birds were talking and you needed sub-titles...", instead he said that it's a common occurence, like if an Italian visits the White House and you slip into Italian.... and he got cut off. Hannity rightly said, "Putting on an Italian accent? At the White House? When has that happened?"

I have no idea what Juan thought he was saying.

So pandering to the audience is now bad?

I feel sorry for Mitt "I like cheesy grits, Y'all" Romney then.
