Romney Becoming A Pariah Over Libya Attack Screw-Up

To those Republicans who still believe that Ronald Reagan is the epitome of Republicanism, let us have a look at what he had to say about a comparable event. It was when Jimmy Carter authorized a raid to rescue the US diplomats being held hosting by Iran. Eight servicemen died in the failed raid. Here's what Reagan said:

"This is a difficult day for all of us Americans. . . . It is time for us . . . to stand united. It is a day for quiet reflection . . . when words should be few and confined essentially to our prayers."

Even more unifying than Reagan was George H. W. Bush:

"I unequivocally support the president — no ifs, ands or buts. . . . He made a difficult, courageous decision."

Compare and contrast to the reaction of Mitt Romney to a crisis in which US patriots died. Republicans, how can you look in the mirror and say you support this man?

I agree. I disagree with most everything political with Ziggurat, but he's ****-all far more intelligent than anyone in the GOP leadership.

I have to say that I must go along with this assessment as well. I have long enjoyed and deferred to Zig's storehouse of knowledge of physics, but given his obvious superior intellect, I fail to understand the seeming dissonance of his political positions.

So, now maybe he'll magically become a democrat!:D

Well, we haven't seen Ziggurat actually defend Romney's actions here, so maybe he secretly agrees that (despite the fact that he's made it clear that this is the wrong issue to be discussing) this is Romney's "Michael Dukakis In A Tank" moment, where he looks woefully underprepared for the office of CIC.

Your link appears to be a tad out of date.
OMFSM. I just saw Powell interviewed on Rachel Maddow and I grabbed the first Google hit without looking. That's interesting since another link from May of this year on HuffPo said Powell wasn't ready to endorse Obama.

In Aug, Powell also wasn't sure: Divisive partisanship in Washington is perhaps the worst it has been in four decades, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell told Fareed Zakaria on Global Public Square on Sunday.
Powell wouldn’t be drawn on whether he would repeat his 2008 endorsement of Barack Obama, saying only that he wanted to see the “whole picture” before reaching a decision. But he did weigh in with his take on Obama’s foreign policy performance so far. “I think he’s done rather well,

Guess we'll have to wait for a bit before the news announced tonight on Maddow reaches a Google link.

Powell was for Obama in 2008, so I don't think that will shake things up much.
Except Powell's endorsement tonight very specifically said Romney's foreign policy advisors and skill were disasters.

It's too close to November for Romney to pull out of this nosedive.

I knew that was what must have happened. I was watching too. Just say 10 hail FSM's and donate $300 to the Obama campaign, and you will be granted absolution.:)

Well, Fox is not just covering up Romney's mis-speak, but are actively selling his back-pedal that this was a US embassy and they're under the State Department and the State Department is part of the Executive Branch and thus the tweet was a policy statement by the government.

Hannity and Mad Dog Malkin were having a frothing-at-the-mouth contest at one point and their entire point is that this is Obama's policy because it happened under his watch.

Oh, I'm so glad there was a witness. Thanks for backing me up. :D

Actually, I'm working on two campaigns in our state, Jay Inslee for governor and Susan DelBene for our local Congresswoman, so other than yard signs, I don't have an extra $300 for Obama. But I did get annoyed seeing a Romney sign up in front of our city park. So I'm making a sign to put next to it saying, "If we followed Romney's plan, we'd be selling this park to private developers."

ugh. Romney.

Has anyone yet pointed out that he's done this before? Or are memories too short?

Wasn't that long ago Romney was carping at Obama and Hillary Clinton about their "failure" to handle Chen Guangcheng's apparent defection right when it started and was at its most confusing, and wound up shooting his mouth off while State was doing its best to negotiate the safe passage of Chen's family. Totally reckless.

Romney's been running for President for over four years. There's no excuse for this kind of behavior. He either doesn't care to learn, or he's an opportunist of the worst kind.

In any event, RIP Ambassador Stevens, and the members of his staff and security detail who were killed. They aren't the first martyrs for our republic and they won't be the last, but I thank them and their families for their service.

Six Degrees of President Obama?

The Sarah Palin tweet was 100% typical:

Apparently President Obama can’t see Egypt and Libya from his house.
Completely tone deaf isn't she?

The Islamic radicals claim that these attacks are in protest to some film criticizing Islam. In response to this, the U.S. embassy in Cairo issued a statement that was so outrageous many of us thought it must be a satire. The embassy actually apologized to the violent mob attacking us, and it even went so far as to chastise those who use free speech to “hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.”
The statement came before the attack, not after. She's either a liar, uninformed or (likely) both.

This is the best one.
These countries represent his much touted “Arab Spring.” How’s that Arab Spring working out for us now?
When President Bush invaded Iraq, one of this claimed motivating factors was that a free and democratic Iraq would cause a "domino effect" of freedom across the Middle East.

So now Palin is against freedom?
