Moderated Obama birth certificate CT / SSN CT / Birther discussion

Because now a whole lot more people know about how PDF files work, and won't fall for Robert Prey's absurdly desperate handwaving. The Birthers want everyone to stay dumb and be content with mined quotes and sound bites that they alone interpret for the masses. Yes, anyone who knows anything about PDF files sees through the utter nonsense that is Mara Zebest's similarly frantic handwaving. I'm increasing the number of people who know anything about PDF files. That's not a bad thing.
Fair point.

True, including everything that Prey is vaguely alluding to in terms of Adobe help pages. He demands that we take a "straightforward" (i.e., simplistic) look at his context-free excerpt. He has no clue just how irrelevant it all is. He'll never accept it, but others here will be able to if they put their minds to it.
After all the PDF discussion, I would hope anyone reading here would have a reasonable enough handle on PDF structure to realise that the entire layers argument is just risible.

A lot of the convolution in the syntax derives from the limitations on the underlying transports, such as Microsoft OLE, which may not be rewindable, etc.
Back in the day, the intent was to produce documents which would reliably reproduce wherever they were printed. Now, you can pretty much chuck the kitchen sink into a PDF, with all the complexity that brings.

We just wanted something that would look good on the typesetter.
We just wanted to declare war on Japan. :D

(ahem, Flash, ahem)
Have not looked at it in any detail, but it appears to have a serious case of bloatware, with added memory leakage.

You think PDF is bad you should see the file structure of a PSD <shudder>

That's not actually a rebuttal. All you had to do is say "my belief that Obama is not the legit president has nothing to do with him being black".

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's because he's from Hawaii. What do you and other birthers have against Hawaiians, huh?

Don't forget the Kool Aid.

One liner, not an actual response.

Sometimes people can't see the forest for the trees -- or simply don't want to. Ya think????

I note that you don't say Jay is one of said people. Because then you'd actually have to address his "baloney".

"a single page of the PDF file can contain different layers with different content."

Only the "Sharks of Education" could possibly mis-construe such a plain and simple statement. Classic Orwellian DoubleThink.

More hand-waving and repeating the same debunked points.

Ooops. <SNIP>. Does this "Birther" look Caucasian????

Edited by Locknar:
SNIPed, breach of rule 0, rule 12.

So if you can address that minor incorrect point, why not explain how Jay's more complex tech posts are baloney? Or even the rest of the post you just quoted, such as this?

Your only answer is a dismissive statement that your opponents are somehow socially irresponsible for "playing the race card." In fact we're playing the racism card, and you have no answer for the evidence that raises that charge. If you cannot answer the evidence, say so. But kindly stop trying to shame your opponents away from holding you accountable.

That question I asked was rhetorical.

Oh, and speaking as a black guy, sometimes the race card is valid.

It always kills me that the people who are most adamant about "defending the Constitution" mostly seem to have very little knowledge of its content. It's sort of like fundies and the Bible, except the Constitution is a much shorter document and there is really no exuse other than laziness for not having read it.

It's kind of like how people who advocate piracy, IME, usually seem to have no idea how copyright works. Sometimes they don't even know why piracy is a crime.

A man of your alleged education has to sink to playing the race card???Shame.
Fine. Quips and ad hominem. Care to actually address and refute the charge?

And RP I am still waiting to see your demand that all still living previous presidents of the USA provide thier birth certificates for examination.

I'm tired of hearing about PDFs. Let's start a new conspiracy theory.

I say Hawaii wasn't a state when Obama was born there, and all documents and records to the contrary are crude forgeries perpetrated by the powerful Spam lobby. Prove me wrong.

Hawaii (i/həˈwaɪ.iː/ or /həˈwaɪʔiː/; Hawaiian: Hawaiʻi Hawaiian pronunciation:*[hɐˈvɐiʔi]) is the most recent of the 50 U.S. states (joined the Union on August 21, 1959)

Barack Hussein Obama II (i/bəˈrɑːk huːˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961)

You've just got proven wrong. Have a nice day

Wikipedia is part of an international conspiracy.

Exactly, it is surprising that Mudcat didn't see that right away. Obviously Wikipedia is part of the Marxist, Muslim conspiracy to get Kenyans elected to the US presidency and to make Americans think that Hawaii is a state so that it can use it as a base to get Kenyans elected president of the US.

Hawaii became a state in 1959 just seven months after Alaska

Shall we ask for Sarah Palin's birth certificate too?

OBama was born in the STATE of Hawaii in 1961 two years later.

Once again, putting words in other people's mouths. My response is actually

It doesn't mean what you say it means.

Note the important difference. You simply beg the question that what you understand by these statements is correct and applicable to the problem. All you can do is hammer on one sentence over and over again, and beg people to hear it the way you do. In contrast, I take the time to explain the underlying factors in sufficient detail, give examples that illustrate those factors, and engage other posters who ask me questions.

The end result is that I can explain why your quoted text doesn't mean what you insist it must. You can't explain anything. You can only insult people who don't agree that your way of looking at something is the only possible way.

You say, "Believe me!"
I say, "Believe this."

When you understand the difference, you'll understand why you lose in the credibility polls -- every time.

Your single layer theory has been thoroughly vetted and debunked by experts around the world, including Adobe. Deal with it.

"PDF files can contain layered content if they are created from layered documents by using applications such as Adobe InDesign. As a result, a single page of the PDF file can contain different layers with different content."

Nuff said.

Where is the statement from Adobe that they have debunked the birth certificate?

Also, what is the basis for allegations of fraud against the State of Hawaii?

"Credibility polls" that exclude all experts from around the world who you disagree are hardly credible.

Which experts disagree with Jays findings?

As has been pointed out most your "evidence" has been shown not to say what you think and claim it says.

At this point the reason they are missing from the poll is the same reason elves are missing from the poll.
