"I must be on the look-out for serpents night and day!
Why, I haven't had a wink of sleep these three weeks!"

If this statement is true, then you need to stop talking about it here.

That isn't going to happen. Not while he has an audience.
It doesn't matter to him that he is the butt of the joke.
He's irrational enough to not realise that he is being laughed at..

How about the Senior Olympics, aka the Oldlympics? Surely the prophecy could still apply to that?

Oh, forgot the obligatory fragment of poetry:

"All strength fails
Unto the grave.
Worms have fed
On Hector brave.
Dust hath closed
Helen's eye.
I am sick.
I must die.
Lord
Have mercy upon us."

...I am still hopeful that the prophecies of the spirit will be fulfilled just like the May 23 birth and August 17 death of Jesus Christ revelations which I myself have proven to be true and correct. ....

PC, you have proven no such thing.
Haven't you read my posts? Followed the links?

Even so, I'm willing to do your translation whenever you post up the link to what you want translated.

I've seen fire and I've seen rain.
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.

I wish that you check my calculations of the May 23 birth and August 17 death of Jesus Christ. The spirit revealed the dates. I just checked their truthfulness in my seven years (1999 to 2006) of studies.

Well, that's seven years of your life you'll never get back.

Do not jump into conclusion that because the prophecy of the 2012 OG in London of the spirit failed, everything else that he says is wrong.

You haven't yet given us a significant instance of the "spirit" being right about anything. Given that and your own dishonesty, what are we left to conclude?

Oh what a night, late December back in '63

So you accept that you are following the devil?

Of course, not, Agatha. The Devil is a spirit, an evil spirit. God is a spirit also but a good one. God is the Spirit of truth. A spirit is one which one cannot see or touch.

Not because that the 2012 Olympic Games in London failed to materialize, we will ignore everything that this spirit says. There may be reasons why he did not make his prophecies to happen. I will search for what the spirit said about failed prophecies and will post it here when I found it.

I have been saying that if we were to believe in a god, we have to be sure that he is the only true God.

Please spare us further nonsense. Everyone here but you already knows why the prophecy failed: because you have been following a lying old fraud, not some prophesying "spirit".

I have read your link. Pontius Pilate was the Procurator of Judea from 26 to 36 AD. Remember that this is assuming that Dionysius Exiguus was right in placing the birth of Jesus in 1 BC. He placed it about 500 years after the fact. Was he right?

I found out the 1 BC was actually when Jesus was crucified and died. He was 32 solar years old when He died. He was then born in 33 BC. The reigns of Pontius Pilate and other Procurators have to be adjusted according to this findings. Remember, I was just checking what the spirit said – that Jesus was born on May 23 and died on August 17.

You have to check Jose Vives’ work on the reigns of kings of Asturias and Astabria in the Iberian peninsula. Unfortunately, the work is in Spanish, which you are conversant. Its era counts from 38 BC, only five years away from the actual birth of Jesus.

Ignoring the begging of a very large question...
Well, he was 1500 years closer to the date than you, probably paid attention the the available records had a pope to please and his errors are reasonable given the times.

I found out the 1 BC was actually when Jesus was crucified and died.
You did no such thing, you assert it because you seem to be easily confused by dates.

The reigns of Pontius Pilate and other Procurators have to be adjusted according to this findings.
You apparently haven't noticed that if you are correct, it pushes the big J back 32 years but doesn't invalidate Roman record keeping; that seems to be a mighty big gun you're pointing at your feet.

Remember, I was just checking what the spirit said
We get it, you were only following orders.

Unfortunately, the work is in Spanish, which you are conversant.
The language isn't the problem, the problem is that the work is generally unavailable. And irrelevant.

PeaceCrusader,

The only reason I'm posting this (despite promising that I was done with this thread - apologies, fellow board members) is that my willingness to help you move past this episode and assist you has resurfaced.

There may be reasons why he did not make his prophecies to happen.

You're not thinking this through. You're caught up in the middle of it, so you don't see it; you've devoted so much of your life to this set of beliefs that you would grasp at any straw to preserve the basic foundations of your belief system.

There's nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. It's a bit extreme, but imo people in general do go to significant lengths to preserve their belief system. They normally don't change overnight and it takes mental reconditioning and sometimes specialized training in critical thinking, data analysis, statistics, and other sciences in order to break out of a false mindset.

I know half a dozen people who behave like you, PeaceCrusader, albeit to lesser degrees and in different areas. They haven't been trained to think critically about what's going on. Let me boil this down to a yes or no question for you:

Are you willing to *consider*, for the sake of argument, that everything this lady / spirit thing has been telling you is false. Not asking you to change the way you act or think from day to day, but for the purposes of this discussion, are you willing to momentarily consider the possibility that what she's been telling you is not true.

You see, scientists get fooled all the time, mainly by themselves. I have to constantly question what I see on an NMR spectrum or in a HPLC trace. I have mental safeguards up in place. I know that I'm right most of the time, because I'm a well-trained and experienced organic chemist. But I'm not right all of the time, and I know that, so with every new compound / reaction sequence that passes through my hands, I question.

I quoted you above, saying that "there may be reasons he didn't make his prophecies happen". You could be right. You could also be wrong. Smarter people than you - or me - are wrong, every second of every day.

I see you posting here on the internet, and on other websites that you've linked, but I don't see an ounce of what I'd like to call skeptical vigilance. You've got to constantly be on your guard, because there is much more misinformation in this world than there is information. If I make a basic organic precursor chemical for literally the 100th time in my life, and everything looks the same and feels the same and smells the same and has the same solubility characteristics and I *know* this compound....I still obtain a 1H NMR spectrum.

The danger I see for you comes from a saying from my time in graduate school. "Dirt in equals dirt out". If you start along a reaction sequence and you make assumptions and just trust that you've interpreted things correctly and you keep going in the sequence without critically analyzing it, that 0.01% of cases where the reaction went wrong? That's now just a pile of dirt. If you take it onto the next chemical step (logical step, in your case), "dirt in equals dirt out". You have no hope of arriving at your destination, which is why you become crestfallen when the predicted outcome doesn't arrive.

I don't know how much more strongly I can say this. You have to start thinking critically, and questioning things. Is it possible that the Holy Spirit revealed to you a prophecy, and then changed his mind and didn't make the prophecy come true? In an universe with so many unknowns, I'll grant you that possibility. Is it also possible that the story was nonsense when it was told to you, and that's why it didn't come true? Yes, that is also possible.

You have a theory that this lady / woman / spirit is giving you accurate predictions (some of the time, I haven't followed your digression into the Devil / Satan / evil spirits sometimes telling the truth). You also have hard data: the Olympics in 2012 London happened.

Never, ever, twist data to make a theory appear to be correct. If the data is irrefutable (and the 2012 Olympics are definitely over), the theory has to change. Your theory is now that the spirit deliberately changed his mind, and have apparently settled on that as the answer, or maybe he really meant the Paralympics. That's a good start, and I commend you for it. But why did you stop there?

Why, why, why can't you see and consider the other possibilities? That the prophecies were not true, were never true, and will never be true. I know it's hard. It's gut-wrenching. But you have to move on, or your life will be completely wasted - as you mentioned, you're already old. Please change before it's too late. Please.

I know that we had the 2012 Olympic Games (OG) in London completed last week on 08-12. The spirit said that the Olympic Games in London will really not be held (or completed; page 49, message 1944) which I accept as failure. As I said to blue sock monkey, the remaining Wednesdays before and during the Paralympic Games in London will just be for me.

I wish that you check my calculations of the May 23 birth and August 17 death of Jesus Christ. The spirit revealed the dates. I just checked their truthfulness in my seven years (1999 to 2006) of studies. It would only take you a few days to check the results of the studies of those two dates because the results are on the Internet for your perusal (http://aristean.org/crucifyidx.htm and http://aristean.org/birthmay23.htm ).

Do not jump into conclusion that because the prophecy of the 2012 OG in London of the spirit failed, everything else that he says is wrong. I have been saying that not everything that the Devil says is bad. Learn to discern the truth from falsehood. Pick up what you think will be good for your soul and discard what is evil.

The failed prophecy was your fault because you told us about the draught stoppers. We all went out and got them so the Holy Spirit saw it couldn't fulfill His plan so He gave up.

Not me, I prefer the ten false ones, that way if you don't like what one is saying you can always get a second opinion.

The Devil is a spirit, an evil spirit.

Prove that it exists, please.

God is a spirit also but a good one. God is the Spirit of truth.

Prove that it exists, please.

A spirit is one which one cannot see or touch.

If you can't see it and can't touch it, and it doesn't show up on any of the detection equipment that humans have invented to date... How do you know it's there at all?

I will search for what the spirit said about failed prophecies and will post it here when I found it.

Um... So let Me get this straight: You're going to rely on the advice of a spirit whose prophesies have failed... to inform you about failed prophesies? I don't think that's going to be very productive at all.

I have been saying that if we were to believe in a god, we have to be sure that he is the only true God.

How do you know there are any "true gods" at all, PC? What if all gods are fictional? What if I, Springy G, am no more than a middle-aged beer-guzzling cat lady with a clarinet and Sensible Shoes, and My 100% prophetic accuracy and ability to randomly cause or cure equipment malfunctions are completely unrelated to My purported divinity? :D

But you have no way of knowing that your "spirit" is not the Devil. It has said "good things", perhaps, but it has also made false prophecies. This is, according to you, entirely consistent with it being the Devil, and inconsistent with it being the "holy spirit".

Actually, Roman calendars didn't use Jesus' birth date as reference points, PC, so the time-line for the Roman governorships of Judea has no reference to the anno domini system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ab_urbe_condita

The co-relation with Anno Domini happened this way:
The Anno Domini year numbering was developed by a monk named Dionysius Exiguus in Rome during 525, as a result of his work on calculating the date of Easter. In his Easter table the year 532 AD was equated with the regnal year 248 of Emperor Diocletian. The table counted the years starting from the presumed birth of Christ, rather than the accession of the emperor Diocletian on 20 November 284, or as stated by Dionysius: "sed magis elegimus ab incarnatione Domini nostri Jesu Christi annorum tempora praenotare..."[3] It is assumed Dionysius Exiguus intended either 1 AD or 1 BC to be the year of Christ's birth (a "year zero" does not exist in this calendar). It was later calculated (from the historical record of the succession of Roman consuls) that the year 1 AD corresponds to the Roman year DCCLIV ab urbe condita, based on Varro's epoch. This however resulted in that year not corresponding with the lifetimes of historical figures reputed to be alive, or otherwise mentioned in connection with the Christian incarnation, e.g. Herod the Great or Quirinius.[4]

So as you can see, the bibical time is already skewed!

No, they don't at all.
When or when not Jesus died has no importance what so ever in our calendar system, which assumes 'the year 1 AD corresponds to the Roman year DCCLIV ab urbe condita... '

Your insistence that KA said Jesus died 17th August sounds as though it is simply a misunderstanding on her listeners' part.
One which has led you to years of mistaken calculations, as Agatha has explained.
Remember that peculiar claim about KA being a reincarnation of the BVM?
With the fantastical story of the wedding of an inexistent Egyptian princess with Philip I?
KA is hardly a source on which you may base a proposal to change our calendar system.

The Spanish Era is simply takes it's starting point from the founding of the Roman administration in Hispania, nothing more. It has nothing to do with any alternative tradition regarding to Jesus' birth date.

You have to check Jose Vives’ work on the reigns of kings of Asturias and Astabria in the Iberian peninsula. Unfortunately, the work is in Spanish, which you are conversant. Its era counts from 38 BC, only five years away from the actual birth of Jesus.

No problem. Just post up the link to what it is you want translated, and I'm on it!
The introduction of the anno domini system simply took longer to implant in Spain as I've pointed out in earlier posts. This tardiness can also be seen in architectural tendencies in ecclesiastical buildings, with the flowering of Visigothic, Romanesque, Gothic and even Rennaissance styles reaching glorious heights in Spain long after Continental builders had moved on to the next fashion. Segovia's Cathedral is a good example of that.

Love Potion Number Nine

Let me put it to you this way, PC.

I am a confirmed Catholic.

What that means, among other things, is that I reject Satan and all his works.

That is easy to do because Satan and all his works have zero evidential reality. They are concepts, not physical objects.

One of the hallmarks of psychosis is the literal interpretation of so-called sacred texts.

I think I finally understand his name.

"Peace" refers to theists and atheists finding common ground in beliefs that we can all laugh at together. He's like Ozymandias, and his prophecies are like a giant psychic alien squid, uniting the capitalist pigs and the dirty commies against a common enemy source of amusement.

@Paul, #3629

You know where I got 1 BC? It is from the 10th paragraph of http://aristean.org/pahayag001.htm titled “Panambitan” (Plea or Pleading). Old members taped this in 1974 which I copied.

The Roman record keeping is exemplary. It starts at the founding of Rome in 753 B.C. The Romans used “ab urbe condita” or A.U.C. To convert a date from A.U.C. to Julian or Gregorian date, a factor is used. A Julian or Gregorian date is based on Jesus being born 1 BC. A new factor is used to convert A.U.C. if the birth of Jesus in 33 B.C. is going to be used.

However, if 1 B.C. is still used as reference, in the Aristean calendar, 1 B.C. becomes year 0, the year when Jesus was crucified and died. The present year A.D. 2012 is not from the birth of Jesus but from his crucifixion and death. It maybe written as A.D.J. 2012 or “After Death of Jesus” 2012. Years in B.C. will be off by one. So 1 B.C. becomes 0; 10 B.C. becomes 9 B.C.J. (“Before Crucifixion of Jesus"); 100 B.C. becomes 99 B.C.J.
