Desperately searching news sources for the slightest hint that there is trouble near the Spratly Islands, so that you can hold on to your last hope that the end of the world is today, as you hide behind your duct tape and draft stoppers?

My Filipina friend reports that she is considering starting a nationwide campaign to rename them the Pratly Islands, in PC's honour.
 
I wish there was a river on one of those islands that cascades down into the ocean. We could call it ... wait for it ... Prat Falls.
 
Is this the point at which PC disappears?

Will he reappear in a year, like nothing happened, ala Paul Bethke?

I sound like a broken record, but all these threads do is reaffirm the sorry state of the mental health systems of the world. Both gentlemen should be committed in order to receive help. The fact that they arent is an indictment on our public health systems.

Well, as expected, mankind is not burning in a thermonuclear bonfire.

I must say, however, that I can't help but be a bit worried about PC, despite his hideous beliefs and wishes. There are some unpleasant precedents regarding the behaviours and acts of people wishing and expecting for doomsday when the deadlines approach.

Nearly 9:00 on Wednesday morning here on the Mississippi, and no sign of nukes raining down.

So I guess it will be safe later today to drive Elizabeth I's fabulous tank downtown and buy soft pratzels to share with SezMe and TSR. Then we can all play abaddon's new game, while dafydd prophesies to us in Welsh. And everyone is welcome to make predictions about where the goalposts might travel to next--I sure hope they send us one of those "Wish you were here" postcards!

Or we can just sit here and watch the Olympics:

I've only just dipped into this thread. Now I regret buying a litre of milk this morning when half a litre would have been plenty.
