Skeletons in the Obama Closet???

The Word Is Out -- Straight from the gut of Columbia Classmate Wayne Allyn Root


"Here’s my gut belief: Obama got a leg up by being admitted to both Occidental and Columbia as a foreign exchange student. He was raised as a young boy in Indonesia. But did his mother ever change him back to a U.S. citizen? When he returned to live with his grandparents in Hawaii or as he neared college-age preparing to apply to schools, did he ever change his citizenship back? I’m betting not.

If you could unseal Obama’s Columbia University records I believe you’d find that:

A) He rarely ever attended class.

B) His grades were not those typical of what we understand it takes to get into Harvard Law School.

C) He attended Columbia as a foreign exchange student.

D) He paid little for either undergraduate college or Harvard Law School because of foreign aid and scholarships given to a poor foreign students like this kid Barry Soetoro from Indonesia.

If you think I’m “fishing” then prove me wrong. Open up your records Mr. President. What are you afraid of?"

So, I guess the newest crackpot theory that is getting passed around the right radio/blogosphere, which isn't even new, is Wayne Root's claim that he never knew Obama at Colombia and that Obama enrolled as a foreign student. His day consisted of the right's crack pot hall of fame; "Beck this morning. Hannity Radio this afternoon. Hannity on Fox News tonight. Rush Limbaugh for 20 minutes just now. Huckabee and Geraldo tomorrow. 50 local interviews in-between."

What is best about this claim is where the theory originated from; yes, a April fools joke. And damn, it is scary looking at the comments on far-right and CT sites that covered this theory.
 
This is the equivalent of Dan Rather's botched 2004 story on George W. Bush's National Guard service. Like it or not, there is almost nothing in Obama's distant past that will affect this election significantly. The election will hinge, as all reelection campaigns do, on the past four years alone.

How would that show up in records? Universities tend not to take headcounts.

I've highlighted the the biggest chunks of fail here. I would suggest you take this to Conspiracy Theories, where this latest strain of Birtherism belongs.

While serious accusations need to be investigated, I don't think hunches fit the category. And if someone is thought to be fishing, then there really isn't any need to prove them wrong.

The onslaught of stupid accusations that will be thrown about looking for publicity after this stupid accusation is taken seriously, for starters.

From the link; "Romney should call a press conference and issue a challenge in front of the nation. He should agree to release more of his tax returns, only if Obama unseals his college records. Simple and straight-forward. Mitt should ask “What could possibly be so embarrassing in your college records from 29 years ago that you are afraid to let America’s voters see? If it’s THAT bad, maybe it’s something the voters ought to see.” Suddenly the tables are turned. Now Obama is on the defensive."

Yeah, unless Mitt has something to hide. Perhaps this is why he is NOT doing this exact strategy. And when the "tables are turned" and Obama immediately opens up his records, and makes Mitt look like a bigger fool than he is doing on his own, then what?
 
And yet again someone has to have it explained to them that a parent cant have a child's American citizenship taken away so there is no need for them to ever "change him back to a U.S. citizen".
