I watched this morning the unique and spectacular Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. With it is the failure of the prophecy of the spirit that it will not be held. I had believed and stood by it and told you about it. I admit that I was wrong in my interpretation. It is devastating and put a question mark in my belief.

I said that I will not totally ignore what this spirit said. Even the Devil can say good things to attract adherents. If the Devil will just say all bad things, will he be able to attract people to listen to and follow him? I will pursue my quest for the true Holy Spirit. I will just pick up what I think is good for me and discard what I think is evil.

I have spent almost all of my time recently in front of my computer trying to defend this spirit.

The group of listeners of this spirit is composed only of a few people – maybe a hundred or so. Some have already died especially the oldies. Some have migrated to other countries. Some still live in the Philippines but don’t come anymore to Baliwag, Bulacan because the spirit seldom and irregularly comes. When the spirit comes, it is only usually for a very short period of time.

There you go again. This "Holy spirit" has been proven to make false phrophecies, yet you still hang on to it.

Then why do you need a Holy Spirit at all? If it is all down to what you personally think is, or isn't, evil. Dump it, as you are doing a perfectly good job on your own to fail.

Well we did warn you! We said on several occasions that your time would be better spent on more productive activities, like learning about science, reason and critical thinking. That should be your noble quest, not searching for non-existent ghosts.

It's a very small change, PC, merely going from "holy spirit" to "spirit". Even that took the worst possible prophecy failure. Not much chance that you will ever realize that there were no spirits involved, merely Ka Apaz and a group of very gullible listeners.

The prophecy failed because you did not meet with Teh Holy Spook^TM in the body of this old lady. You did not meet with any spirit of any kind, ever. The prophecy, and any other information you believe came from this spook, all came from your own mind.

It was not the interpretation that failed. It was the entire prophecy, going back to the words you think you heard in the 1980s. It all failed because it was a lie from start to finish. There was not a word of truth in it.

I can understand that your entire belief system has suffered a body blow. And it may take considerable time and effort for you to develop the will to build a new system. But now is the time for you to start, and to choose to build that new system founded upon a morality springing from rationality and a love for mankind, if you can.

I will not pretend for one moment that I am sorry you were disappointed. You were looking forward to the agonizing deaths of billions of people--most of whom you believed were going to eternal damnation. That is not nice. It is wicked.

You should look into your own heart now, and ask yourself why you felt this need to see such terrible events come to pass.

I fear that, even now, you are looking around for a new magical system to replace the old one that failed so dismally. You can choose to do that--but you will only be setting yourself up for more crushing failure.

I think the issue is that not everyone wanted him to apologize for his overall belief and faith in "God". I'm certainly under no illusion that he was apologizing for being wrong for believing in the existence of a supernatural, all-powerful entity. He apologized for this particular "prophecy" being wrong and the time he wasted trying to sell it to us.

That's the apology I accepted.

I'm not a religious person, PeaceCrusder—I can't even say I'm slightly spiritual—but this idea of yours is extremely dangerous in the context of your faith. The Devil's entire game is deception; he tells you lies and convinces you that they're true. The last sentence is the particularly dangerous part:

Your complete belief that this failed prophecy was actually true has shown that you're incapable of determining the Devil's lies from his "truths". It doesn't even seem to bother you in the slightest—or possibly even occur to you—that you are being lead astray. Why doesn't your god provide you with these truths, anyway?

You will continue to fall into the same traps, again and again, until the day you die.

Kind of. . . he only said he was wrong in giving an improper interpretation to a spirit's message. He said he'd consider that maybe he had the wrong spirit.

Again, I could have done without any apology at all. He did nothing to harm or offend me in any way at all. I don't think anyone gave anything he said any credence (and if they did, that's their own fault).

Would've been nice to see a little E in the JREF this time, though, and that clearly did not happen.

I'm pretty sure I do, and the explanation does not involve starting from the assumption that you were communicating with any kind of spirit.

But putting my own beliefs aside, it certainly appears any coherent explanation would require that you were definitely not in fact communicating with The Holy Spirit as you define it.

Perhaps the important point is that you were fooled, and you could be fooled again, especially as it appears that you fooled yourself in your eagerness to have confirmation of predictions you already believed in.
