Actually, yes. He could have chosen a much higher amount which would have prevented him from achieving bail,

No, he couldn't because that is effectively the same as not granting bail. In fact, Lester states that in the order.

or prevented it completely by stating that GZ was absolutely a flight risk, and even a GPS monitor wouldn't satisfy the judge's reasonable conclusion.

No, see below.

They could have appealed, but it would have taken even more time and blah blah blah....

That's your thought, which would be an opinion, which is subjective.

"...the state failed to prove that the defendant may be held without bond" is a direct quote from Judge Lesters order.

I didn't either. You're welcome to cite something I said as incorrect, and cite the legal cases backing you up, and also the relevant passages of the FL SS if you'd like. It's your choice.
Spare me the games.
You've had legal cases, laws, rulings et al. (ETA: and Judge Lester's exact words on the reason for bond) cited to you repeatedly by more than one poster here, explained definitively complete with links, and your response has been to keep your head firmly in the sand and fling debate fallacies.
The appearance is that not only do you not know the law, you don't want to...

Which makes your earlier post that you'll be happy to school (by Googling 'Florida SS' no less)people who are giving you correct and useful information, quite ironic.

Especially when you have nothing about the controlling Supreme Court ruling that needs to be applied when looking at statutes of limitations on these sorts of crimes.

I rest my case.

Not to mention the bit in the Constitution (brought up here repeatedly) about the constrictions on judges regarding excessive bail...

Let me ask you a question. If your 7 year old was "playing doctor" with a 6 year old relative, would you call the police?

Absolutely disgusting that you would equate an alleged decade of sexual molestation with "playing doctor".

Please try and separate it from the Martin case, remove your Z is innocent blinders.

So no one wants to comment on the jailhouse recording wherein George says he told O'Mara about at least $37k a whole week before O'Mara presented George as indigent?

Jailhouse calls released.
1st bond hearing on 4/20/12
This call was on 4/14/12 – talks about MOM knowing about fund transfer …

GZ had been talking to his caller on the phone about MOM
@ 4.43 mark in call

GZ: I did tell him (MOM) that we tried to make one transfer of 37 and it got held up because it is over the 10, you know.

Male: ah ah

GZ: So he knows about that. um But he …

Male: Does he know about the volume

GZ: No

Male: Ok

GZ: And uh …

Male: I’d like to keep that with us

GZ: Ok I think so too.

There's old George, conspiring with someone to hide the "volume" of donations from his own lawyer.

Trustworthy guy, huh?

That seems to be pretty clear cut that at least Z says O'Mara knew about the PayPal ahead of the bond hearing. O'Mara better hope that Judge Lester doesn't find out about this.

This is just an observation on my part......how can it be classified as "molestation" when it's an 8 year old? I'm not saying it isn't wrong, and I guess the circumstances would play a part (did the 6 year old say no, I don't want to do this?). But mostly it seems to me it would be curiousity. It's definitely not the first time a child was curious about sex.

Wow. Just wow. First of all, this another poster ignoring the fact that the sexual assault occurred for a decade, until adulthood.

Secondly, some of you are still denying that humans can be sexually active at 8 or even younger.

Being sexually active at that age happens.

Being sexually active at that age is wrong.

But here is the important fact. That "being sexually active at that age is wrong"? That is when both parties consent.

We're not talking about that.

We're talking about sexual molestation and rape.
That's several magnitudes more wrong that 2 humans consenting at 8.

Some of you trying to hand wave it off as the former, as just "playing doctor" is absolutely sick. Disgusting.

I will never forget that certain members in this thread have done that.

Why ? Judge Lester is about to be off the case. At any rate, it's clear he gives MOM every benefit of the doubt :D

I don't want to be accused of being a hypocrite, as I have discussed issues that are more peripheral than central to the case....

But perhaps the general topic of molestation and at what ages children have sexual urges, etc. would be better served to be in its own thread ?

Just a thought.

That's weird, I don't remember you suggesting that the topic of a screwdriver being a burglary tool and if having a screwdriver is indicative of being a burglar would be better served to be in its own thread.

I can only assume why not.

If you did suggest that at the time, please link to it, and I will apologize.

Again, no need to assume... you can just ask. But keep reading .... your assumption is wrong.

Much as I think this guy's a liar and his act, reckless homicide, releasing this unrelated evidence really does seem grossly unjust. Was an 8 yr old just being a jerk to his cousin? Was he acting out sexually as some abused kids are known to do? 8 yr olds don't sexually abuse 6 yr olds unless there is some serious psychiatric disorder going on there and the adult GZ doesn't fit that profile as far as the other evidence suggests. This whole thing should have been kept completely separate from the shooting.

Great, another poster ignoring that that accusation is that the sexual assault continued for 10 years, until adulthood.

Shouldn't you be taking your own advice ? If you don't want people to respond to your posts, don't post. You don't get to pick and choose who responds to your posts.

KatieG was saying that crim is treating everyone like they are lawyers, that they should act like lawyers, and that this is a court of law and not a discussion board at a skeptics forum. And that is what you get out of her post???

Wow. Just Wow.

I can only assume why you posted that based on your other posts.
So O'Mara threw in everything including the kitchen sink... as he is required to do.

But don't forget, only a 'Zimmerman defender' would expect him to try to actually win for his client.

Nice dodge.

I'll ask the questions again.

You seriously think that motion is going to be granted?

Did you read it?

As crim loves to point out, it's everything they could think of. But yet it all still amounts to nothing.

As for as your responses to the "I can only assume", I think it is clear that it hits home with you. Your trying to deflect it is quite telling.

Ha, good luck with that.

I really don't think JKL is going to allow them to knock him off the case just because they lied at the bond hearing.

We'll see.

Nice dodge.
Thanks.

Yes

Is that your legal or layperson interpretation of it ?
