“I Believe” that the Holy Spirit taught us is correct because it is concise and it spells out the essential points that I subscribe or believe in.
Here is the “I Believe” in English as per my translation:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
creator of Heaven and Earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
the only begotten Son of God,
the Lord of all of us.
He became man, conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born by the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Because of these, I fully believe
that He is the beginning and the end of all things.
And in the way that I believe in these,
in similar way do I believe that I will be saved
by way of His one and only baptism.
And in the way that I believe in these,
in similar way do I believe that He and only He
can save my soul from the fires of Hell.
Because of these, I fully place on His palms
my whole being.
Amen.
How do I know that the “I Believe” comes from God the Holy Spirit? Did you know that we (plural) talk to a spirit, a holy spirit, THE Holy Spirit, if you will believe it? Did you know that that spirit is the spirit of Jesus Christ? Did you know that God made Himself into three: as God the Father who spoke in the Old Testament, as God the Son Jesus Christ who spoke in the New Testament, and as God the Holy Spirit?
It is not only “I Believe” that He taught us, but also “Our Father”, “Hail Mary”, and “Glory Be”. These have to be memorized because they are said when we pray the Rosary. There are many more prayers that He led in reciting from which we can concoct our own prayers to suit our needs.
They were tape recorded that is why we got it word for word or verbatim.
