Trayvon Martin, Vigilante Justice

Just so we're clear, that's done as mockery, not a desire to actually discuss North Korea.

Quoted for posterity. You already seem to be at odds with him regarding whether or not Zimmerman's wife lied on the stand. So we'll see if you change your tune on Judge Lester when and if he starts making rulings with which you disagree.

And I'll bet that The Conservative Treehouse already has their crack team of investigators on the case.

I might change my mind tomorrow. He's already done a couple of things I didn't like. I thought the rage he exhibited in the courtroom when informed about the recordings of Z and his wife was fabricated. I thought his tone in the bond revocation document made public today was unnecessary. But, I don't know those things are not just routine for him. Essentially, I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt.

You keep bringing up North Korea, you know.

I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about Judge Lester.

I will, the man is a tool. He allowed the prosecution to present a prepared demonstration about the already resolved 'paypal bond issue' when the agenda was supposed to be a suppression hearing (or whatever) when neither George Zimmerman nor Shelly was available for the defense to talk to and he had no time to prepare. He sure sounded surprised that the prosecution hadn't already proffered charges! Talk about prejudging!

In fact, I don't think this bond fiasco will have any effect on his final determination if there is a SYG hearing. I think he will follow the evidence and the law.

Let's hope so, he was able to see through the whole 'passport' nonsense, quite possibly because O'Mara had a chance to prepare evidence and documentation to refute the prosecution contention. He had no chance to do that in this instance, neither George nor Shelly were there and he'd just taken on the case when it happened.

Reading through the judge's statement on this issue makes one thing pretty clear: that judge must be taking everything the prosecution alleged on the APC as being 'fact' and an accurate representation of the truth, just like he did regarding the paypal account in court and here.

I wonder just what he might think when it's revealed in court that APC wasn't actually a very honest representation of the facts?

One of the great joys of this thread is watching laypeople pretend to know more about the law than the professionals who do it for a living. That never stops being funny.

Yes, it is absolutely hilarious to watch people pretend they know more than Jeralyn Merritt. I didn't realize you were paying attention to this so closely. :D

Especially regarding Shelly Zimmerman. I get that the details around the murder are murky and open to interpretation. But this case? I can't imagine a more clear cut case of perjury. It's just so blatant and was so easy to prove that it makes my eyes hurt just reading people trying to rationalize it.

"Oh, those mean prosecutors who just let poor Shelly walk into the perjury trap! And such a mean judge, too!"

I really found their jailhouse transcripts fascinating. They obviously thought they were being careful about how they handled the money. They used code (I thought the code part was open to interpretation, but reading it, saying they have $8.50 when they meant $8500. And they transferred the money in amounts just under $10k, which is obviously so they wouldn't trigger the feds being informed.

And then they get up there and claim they have no money? As they used the funds to pay off their bills and enjoy a taste of the good life for a bit?

How could they not expect to be busted?

And these are the people I'm supposed to believe over the family of the dead kid? DD says Trayvon was scared, but these grifters say Trayvon attacked them unprovoked, and I'm supposed to just buy that?

Nope. I'm going to go ahead and assume everything out of George's mouth is as honest as his dealings with the court and his treatment of his myriad supporters who tossed money at him so he could pay off his credit card bills and fatten the bank account.

Keep in mind, charges are not evidence, and Shellie Zimmerman, like her husband, is entitled to the presumption of innocence, both in a court of law and on TalkLeft. You can state your opinion, but you can not declare either one guilty of anything. And if your opinion is they did something wrong, please limit your comments expressing that to no more than four in this thread. Comments in excess of that amount or that declare either one guilty will be deleted.

What? That's just the most bizarre, capricious blog policy of all time. Hey, disagree with me if you must, but only four times and I'll delete the rest.

Sounds like a great way to have a debate.

It's more than fair to give someone four posts who doesn't have any evidence of 2nd degree murder to present. One would cover it, actually, so it is like getting three bonus posts. ;)

No, I was actually talking about Judge Lester, Mark O'Mara, the prosecutors... you know, legal professionals actually involved in the case, and not some random self-appointed internet expert whose rambling explanation for why Zimmerman's wife probably wasn't lying is slowly sinking into a stormy sea of cold hard reality.

There wasn't a lot of sense to be pulled out of this rambling word salad, so I'm not sure what you are trying to say other than "Waaaahhh! No fair!".

It was (mainly) a quote from a play about a witch-hunt and then some paraphrasing from a famous event the production was analogous to.

Zimmerman's wife lied on the stand. That has been clearly demonstrated,

I don't think that's true at all, how could she have been attempting to deceive them about something she already told them about and thus they knew about? How can it be a 'lie' without the intent to deceive?

and was enough to warrant a perjury charge.

Which doesn't mean she's guilty, does it? Has it occurred to you there might be reasons for the concept behind 'innocent until proven guilty?' One of them is that accusations from authority carry great weight with many people, thus there's a tendency for some to automatically assume it has merit and expect the accused to prove otherwise.

Just like you appeared to have done in this instance. I find sometimes it's better to reserve judgment.

That anyone would continue to deny this simple fact is sad and bizarre.

This incidentally is something that ought to suggest to you that maybe you should rethink who's 'spinning' here. You ought to be able to just tear me apart on the merits of the accusation if there's validity to it and I'm just sad and in denial and my posts are 'bizarre.'

But good luck with your denial! I'm sure that will work out for you in the end the way it always does for people in denial.

Let us just see how it 'works out in the end' and then we'll see just who is in denial. ;)

Also, from earlier today:

Well, that didn't take long:

Did you think criticism of the Judge would be precluded because you'd decided to call it a 'smear' beforehand? :)

As much fun as Internet doctors ? ;)

Zing! :D

All jokes aside, it's one thing to speculate out of one's depth prior to the release of pertinent information, but another entirely to do the same once that information has been made available.

I don't recall anyone saying the EMTs or the doctor were wrong once their reports were released. But we have people in this thread who have the audacity to chastise and denigrate a veteran judge as if they somehow know better than he does. That's just sheer idiocy.

And it won't be the last we've seen of such idiocy, mark my words. Any turn of events that doesn't benefit Zimmerman will be viewed by some as part of some bizarre conspiracy to railroad him. It's already been hinted at, and it will only get worse.

I see. You're suggesting her analysis was wrong because Shellie got arrested. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Fascinating. Either, in some strange twist of fate, only you have the power to see the truth that somehow several legal professionals involved in this case failed to see... or you're wrong.

Guess which option my money is on?

What would honestly be the point of that conversation? The lies she told are obvious. You deny that fact. Arguing with you further would be pointless. You are clearly committed to your denial.

Let us just see how it 'works out in the end' and then we'll see just who is in denial. ;)
It will still be you. She won't be acquitted.

Did you think criticism of the Judge would be precluded because you'd decided to call it a 'smear' beforehand? :)
How does writing Judge Lester's name as "Judge Lynch Lester" serve as criticism? It's a cheap shot taken at someone you've decided not to like because things didn't turn out the way in which you preferred.

I see. You're suggesting her analysis was wrong because Shellie got arrested. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Her analysis was - in part - was about why Zimmerman's wife didn't commit perjury. Then Zimmerman's wife was arrested fro perjury. And guess what? Zimmerman's wife will not be acquitted of perjury, because she clearly committed perjury.

Jeralyn's analysis on this topic is proving to be wrong, and will continue to be proved wrong.

He is being railroaded. Just look at the sequence of events. The reason we went from a no-crime described, unapproved Capias to one for 2nd degree murder was the major players were changed after the Governor intervened. Corey was swapped for Wolfinger, and Gilbreath and O'Steen swapped for Serino to get the desired results.

So where did the judge make the mistake of calling SZ a liar? She was indeed a very busy woman.
