Burka Bounty Introduced in Belgium

I do not think a person should be able to get a license (driving/passport, /security) without a face photo. That said, this is crap-level stupid.
 
What, you can't tell Miriam and Salome and Eve from Sam in the family photo?
(Sam is the cross dresser.)

I agree. It's not about passport photos though. Belgium instituted a burqa ban in public last year (BBC). The BBC says there are about 30 burqa wearers; this Flemish newspaper put the number at 270 - anyway, trifle compared to the near half a million Muslims in Belgium.
 
Are we not supposed to ahve protected individual rights and liberties in the West, unlike those nasty tinpot tregiems like Saudi Arabia

Too bad they'll only pay out if it actually leads to a fine / police intervention. This isn't the first time theyve tried a snitching line of sorts, they've done one for snitching on 'illegals' too.

Yes, but if we're both doing the snitching, and paying the fines, then it's much more likely we'll get caught and pay fines. From what I've seen, worst case scenario, we're at least 100 euros up on each transaction.

The cops might have to set up a revolving door just for the burka wearers!


This isn't like snitching on illegals, where the cost to the person caught far exceeds the value of the bounty. "Hey, I need a few extra hundred this week...Better break out the burka and cell phone!"

You may run into a problem with collecting the money. Though, in that case, you can launch a civil suit against Filip de Winter's party, Vlaams Blok Vlaams Belang and possibly bankrupting them - not a bad idea either. :D

Most western nations don't have a consitution that creates a government, granting it certain, listed, specific powers and none others.

Most start from a vox populi vox dei parliament, with the presumption a government exists and that all powers under the sun are available to it, subject only to purely democratic dictates and the attendant blowing political winds of passion.

Yeah, that's the weakest part of the plan. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that their mouths were bigger than their wallets.

But by god, it would be fun to screw with them!
