The Incredible odds of fulfilled bible prophecy

Another case in point. Didn't Japan surrender in August 1945 and thus, in your logic, cease to exist? It was occupied by the Allies and ruled by MacArthur, not by the never-convicted war criminal Emperor Hirohito.

And how come all those Confederate States are still on the maps of America?

And my country, Scotland, "accepted the overlordship" of England 305 years ago, and we are still in a "united kingdom" along with England, Wales and part of Ireland; but I think it can be said that the place still exists. Nor is it merely a bare rock covered with fishing nets, although we do plenty of fishing.

What good times we've had, despite the whole thing being kind of pointless.

:)
...and some really classic (and classy graphics) that often made me LOL.

I guess that's why they accepted the authority of Nebuchadnezzar. You get to survive and suffer no more damage from him. And it's logical to assume that a guy that can destroy Jerusalem could do some serious damage in 13 years on Tyre.

From Wiki on Nebu.

After the destruction of Jerusalem, Nebuchadnezzar engaged in a thirteen year siege of Tyre (585–572 BC), which ended in a compromise, with the Tyrians accepting Babylonian authority.

In my book if you accept the authority of an invading army, you lost, and your nation as you knew it is no more, no matter what name you give it.
Ho, ho, ho - so now being occupied is equal to being swept from the face of the earth? Interesting theories you develop in the course of trying to squirm away from reality.

We're sneaky. :p

is an irrefutable proof that Jerusalem doesn't exist. Particularly as it was completely destroyed by the Romans all over again in 70 AD and a Roman city called Aelia Capitolina was constructed on the site. Jews weren't even allowed to live there!

That.

However,

Logical? Do you have any evidence that was the case?

Actually, Tyre only accepted Nebuchadnezzar's overlordship, but they continued to have their own kings: Ithabaal III was succeeded by his son Baal II. There's a continuous line of Tyrian kings. ....

Except that the prophecy said that Tyre would be completely destroyed and abandoned forever, which didn't happen.

Perhaps instead of redefining what the prophecy meant why don't you just admit that the prophecy failed? We know that you can (sort of) admit that prophecies in the Bible have failed so why not admit that this one did instead of making up crap to try and "justify" it?

No, because a nation that is no more can not be rebuilt (because it doesn't exist), only it's memory exists.

See post 2702

So Israel wasn't re-founded by the Maccabees in 140BCE?

Seriously, this last excuse, that a city or nation which has been occupied by a foreign power ceases to exist, has to be some kind of joke?

In DOC's world, Japan is a bare rock, a place to spread nets, a place which has been "built no more". This probably comes as quite a surprise to a nation of 127 million people.

Honestly DOC, is that really what you meant to say?

Hmm . . .

This is a dilemma!

On the one hand, this prophecy about Jerusalem:

Isaiah 52:1

. . . for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

makes a lot more sense in the light of Israel's non-existence.

However, this piece of evidence* presents something of a paradox:

Feel free to repost anything you consider is evidence that the writers told the truth...

The most obvious evidence is a body that has been missing for 2000 years belonging to a famous historical person that most biblical scholars believe was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of Pontius Pilate.

Israel not existing would certainly explain the missing body of not-Zombie Jesus, but it kind of means we need to find a different setting for most of the New Testament.

I'm sure I'm getting close to some kind of Unified Theory on all this. Stay tuned.

Thank you Aberhaten. I am fond of The Heidelberg Uncertainty Principle for so many reasons.

And I look forward to your Unified Theory on Everything, which explains why a nonexistent body is proof that Jesus existed, and the existense of Tyre is proof that it was destroyed. I'm all agog! And Magog as well!

He's just moving the goalposts in a feeble attempt to "prove" that the prophecies came true.

I'm sure he'll come up with some other bollocks that will somehow "prove" that it came true. I'm guessing it'll be that because Tyre was rebuilt and was under the nominal control of the Babylonians it means the prophecy came true.

wow.
I never knew Germany doesn't exist.

that must be a real shock to germans. Who's going to let them down easily?
