Vaccine/autism CT discussion

It can be. It has yet to be. A distinct difference.

Apparently researching all possible causes and establishing a confirmed link takes time.

What is the relevence when the possibility between vaccine and autism has been discredited?

Time? 5 years? 10 years? 15 years? 20 years?

The relevance is that saying the cause cannot be found could only be that the true cause is being hidden from the public. Remamber how Christine Whitman told the people of NYC and the World that the air quality of New York City, just days after 9/11, was safe?

Your post reminds me of the medical community insisting to many 10s of thousands parents, who noticed their toddlers became autistic soon after their MMR vaccine inoculation, that they were mistaken.
I've noted your tendency to use one-liners and irrelevant comparisons when you can't refute the actual argument.

Once again, why can't all the medical community with its technology and medical histories figure this out? You have seen the commercial about 1 in 88 children becoming autistic haven't you? What percentage of children have to become autistic before you freaking wake up?
More rhetoric to hide your inability to produce a causal link.

Really?

What causes appendicitis? Tonsillitis? Arthritis? Down's Syndrome? Club Feet?

All being hidden ... why?

Cm there is no link between Autismm and the MMR vaccine that has been shown in study after study after study all of which hae been drawn to our attention but you prefer to beleive a TV commercial that tells me all I need to know about your approach to analysis, the accurate word for your approach is vacuous

CM. How long SHOULD it take to discover the cause of autism?
Why should we ignore the causes we have evidence for in favour of the idea of a secret cause?

On what basis do you assume the secret cause is vaccines? Why not any other commonality between cases?

Seems clear enough and no mention of MMR or other vaccines either...

What Causes Autism?

Not long ago, the answer to this question would have been “we have no idea.” Research is now delivering the answers. First and foremost, we now know that there is no one cause of autism just as there is no one type of autism. Over the last five years, scientists have identified a number of rare gene changes, or mutations, associated with autism. A small number of these are sufficient to cause autism by themselves. Most cases of autism, however, appear to be caused by a combination of autism risk genes and environmental factors influencing early brain development.

In fact later on we have this:

Are Vaccines to Blame?

Many studies have been conducted to determine if a link exists between immunization and increased prevalence of autism, with particular attention to the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and vaccines containing the preservative thimerosal. These studies have found no link between vaccines and autism. We strongly encourage parents to have their children vaccinated, because this will protect them against serious diseases. It remains possible that, in rare cases, immunization might trigger the onset of autism symptoms in a child with an underlying medical or genetic condition. Autism Speaks is funding studies on the underlying biology of autism, including studies to better understand medical and genetic conditions associated with autism.

:rolleyes::pigsfly:dl:

Yeah that's a hot one. The world wide spontaneous decline of the human species.

Who would do this hiding and why?

CM, why do you run from every study presented that shows vaccines don't cause autism? What are you afraid of?

What is the relevence of the air quality comparison of New York after 9/11? That because there are tests for particular content of air samples there should be knowledge about genetic predisposition to autism? Well that surely cuts both ways:

Somebody else discovered the background radiation that resulted from the Big Bang and mapped it, so shouldn't CM have proven a link between autism and vaccines by now?

[somebody] has [unrelatated process] so why can't [they validfate a theory with knowledge yet to be discovered]. A classic non-sequitor pattern.

Could you post up a link to this comercial, please? Not everyone here lives in the States, after all.

I googled and found that figure of 1 in 88 children as a news item here:

And the first two para of that article:
Researchers have found there is no link to childhood vaccinations.

Some treatments also have been disproved, such as diets, or were never considered appropriate, such as injections of Lupron, used to treat children with a sexual disorder.
