Republicans want to limit access to contraception

It's the Alabama legislature and they are pretty much idiots all the way around there.

BTW, the article states the bill will most likely die after some embarrassing debate....

I haven't noticed that but I sure have noticed the attempts. You might have heard all of the GOP candidates bragging about ending planned parenthood. You might remember the attempt by Komen to stop funding planned parenthood. You just might know that much of what planned parenthood does is provide screening for breast cancer.

BTW: He never said breast cancer, though it is true that the GOP wants very much to end the organization that provides much of the resources to prevent breast cancer screening. Pregnancy IS a health issue.

If some woman wanted to pass a bill making it illegal for you to make decisions about your body, wouldn't you find that inappropriate govt intrusion? Of all the nonsense political propaganda, this is one I find true. Restricting contraception and reproductive services is just that.

It's actually not absurd.

As we have provided evidence that many in the Pro-Life movement want to restrict all birth control, and since there are really not very many pro-life Democrats, I think we can safely say that there is a contingent in the Republican party who want to do so.

Since these people vote, and are vocal, it is likely that they also elect some of their numbers to public office to attempt to enact that agenda, or get their elected representatives to go along with them for political expediancy.

If such people should acquire enough power, I think the result must be that they will extinguish the right to birth control.

Since they are largely Republicans, the Republicans must be opposed until they specifically repudiate that position.
 
BTW, it is too easy to paint this as a "War On Women" issue, but it goes a lot deeper than that; It is a war on sexuality that does not conform to Christian teachings. It is an attempt to control or punish those who reject Christianity.

Well, there is some snot-nosed republicon punk in congress pushing a criminal investigation into one women's health group that does reduced-cost breast cancer screenings. His intent is to shut down the operation because they also do the full-range of birth-control services for low-income women.

Abortion is not just about the woman's body. There is another life there too. As I mentioned I am reluctantly pro-choice. I think abortion is probably morally wrong, but not so obviously wrong as the things we criminalize.

Claiming this is about controlling women's bodies is a form of strawman. The equivalent on the anti-abortion side is to say that liberals love baby-killing. Neither is a fair assessment of the situation.

And to those bringing up Planned Parenthood's breast-cancer exams, don't be facile. If PP was mainly about breast cancer it would be completely non-controversial.
