So Michele Bachmann said that Bill Maher said things just as bad about her as Rush said about Fluke, and where is the uproar.

On Starting Point on CNN this morning, Soledad O'Brian admitted that what Maher said could not be repeated on CNN.

I can't find the thing referred to, unless it's the MILF comment. I did find where one of Maher's guests said something pretty nasty about Bachmann that couldn't be repeated, but nothing Maher himself said.

The one said by the guest was pretty bad, but maybe (maybe, still haven't decided) it wasn't quite (by just a little) as bad as what Rush said, but it was still something I don't think should have been said. Something about her husband anger ******* her.

The stuff said by Maher himself that I found doesn't seem to be as bad either, though it was also pretty tasteless, referring to Bachmann and Palin as MILFs. While this comment does the sexual objectification thing to them and I don't condone that, MILF somehow doesn't seem as bad as what Rush said partially because it didn't come with the post videos comment, or the ciminal accusation of "prostitute."

If it's true the media are harder on Rush than left-wing pundits, that's an accusation I'd like to see them answer for. But has Rush really stepped farther than the lefties this time? In my opinion, yes, but it's a symptom of the shock-jock thing which is not restricted to either side.

No. Rush spent three days piling on. Though there have been some pretty nasty things said some on the left, I have never seen anything that even comes close to Rush's sustained attack.

Pundits and politicians who are in the public eye and say or do controversial things are fair game. Bill Maher saying mean things about Michelle Bachmann is just as fair as Dennis Miller saying mean things about Nancy Pelosi. (Notice how there was no national uproar over the latter.)

Sandra Fluke is a private citizen. She does not have a television or radio show, nor does she hold public office. Her great sin was speaking before a congressional hearing about women's reproductive rights. Rush Limbaugh used his show as a bully pulpit to defame and degrade her knowing full well she did not have the means to respond in kind.

That's the difference.

Agree with all that, and would add that Maher and Miller are comedians. Not the same as "pundits." Its comparing apples and oranges to say they are the same as Rush.

I don't have an original source, just something I read in a thread on another forum, but apparently Maher referred to Bachman as a whore in the 'selling your support to the highest bidder' kind of way.

Good points, folks. Makes a lot of sense to me, and I was not aware of Rush's continuing attack on Fluke.

People like Ms Fluke are a threat to the pig boy's way of life. She wants to work to end human trafficing, especially for the sex trade.

El Blimpbo probably feel like she's out to cut off one of his body parts. Little men like that cannot deal with a real woman.

Rush is not just a pundit. He's part of the Republican machine. Recall the time shortly after Obama was elected, Michael Steele had to apologize to Limbaugh for calling him "incendiary" and "an entertainer." I think he even did it in studio, went to "kiss the ring." Maher has no such power in the Democratic Party. Add to that she's a non-public figure whose life has been changed as a result of his ignorant comments.

With that out of the way, it is troubling the extent we have to coddle women. Rush assaulted her virtue! He dishonored her! Six months ago feminists proudly held their slut walks.

These feminists did it by choice. Limbaugh smears people when they say something he doesn't like.

What did Maher actually say?

It must have been a word worse than MILF, which is arguably a compliment.

Was it the C-word?

Say what? Did I totally miss something major?

The direct monikers I found were MILF and boob. The worst I found (my search wasn't that long) was this:

MAHER: She is not a mean girl. She is a crazy girl with mean ideas.
MAHER: Isn't it a little scary that someone who wants to be president hears God talking to her?
MAHER: The Republicans have to stop thinking up intricate psychological explanations for why liberals don't like Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann. Let me save you all time. Are you ready? Because they're crazy people.
MAHER: It's not because they have breasts. It's because they are boobs.
MAHER: But we can't throw around the word "sexist" just to stop people like me pointing out that Michele Bachmann, now running second for the Republican presidential nomination, isn't a dangerous nincompoop. And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp --
MAHER: --and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdoes.

I'm willing to be shown he said something worse, but this is what I found.

What Maher's guest, Marc Maron, said was more offensive:

“I don’t want to be crass,” Maron said, “but I just hope that [Michele’s husband] Marcus Bachmann takes all that, ya know, that rage that comes from repression and denial and brings it into the bedroom with her. I hope he ***** her angrily, because that’s how I would. And I’ve thought about it.” What brought this on was Maron’s contention that Marcus Bachmann is a repressed homosexual."

But still not in Limbaugh league in my opinion.

The "strange family of inbred weirdos" comment was out of bounds. Disgusting.
Marron's comment was also disgusting.

Not too surprising that now Maher has rushed to Limbaugh's defense. He's doing it to deflect criticism from himself.

Hang on - I think you may be wrong about that. It's quite apparent that "Rush" is an extreme character created and played for laughs by a comedian-come-actor, like the Borat character that Sacha Baron Cohen came up with.

Regardless of how "Rush" came into being, the power wielded by the man who plays the character is real.

That first one is arguably sexist, calling her "girl" instead of "woman" and the fourth one could be (incorrectly) taken as sexist by someone not paying attention, but that's about it.
