Prohibiting sex with a dead body corrects an obvious omission in the law, Beiser said.

If the measure passes, sex with a corpse would be a Class 2 felony, with punishment ranging from probation to seven years in prison. Unauthorized removal of a corpse would be a Class 4 felony, with a penalty ranging from probation to three years.

When will the prudes in the legislature stay out of our bedrooms? Now Ethyl and I must move again.

I hereby consent that, after my death, my body may be used for whatever sexual acts anyone wishes to defile it with.

I think if they're dead enough to vote they're also dead enough to have sex.

I'm guessing that all the vampires in Chicago are going to be really miffed by this ruling.

Seriously, though -- is this law really necessary? I mean, just how many necrophiliacs *are* there?

Reading the title of the thread I just assumed that the Christian Conservatives had taken things to their logical conclusion...

Dead bodies are property -- they should fall under the same laws as any other property.

I always wonder why some atheists say that "your dead body is not you".

I mean, if there is no soul (which I think), then where did "you" go?

In other words, your dead body really is you, just a more lifeless you.

If anyone would say that "your dead body is not you", it should be people who believe in the soul, since they believe that the "self" leaves the body after death".

Not that a body is somehow sacred because of it, but it just seems odd to say it.

Because "you" is a combination of a body, and a process that body is running.

The same place "combustion" goes when you turn off your car engine.

True enough.

What I was driving at was that the body is all that is left after death, as was the case in life. So to say "He's not in there any more" (something I've read from some atheists) is to use religious terminology, because there was nobody "in there" at any time., because we're not "in" our bodies, we "are" our bodies.

'Combustion' is exactly where my body is going after I die. And I'm not talking about scriptural fire.

Meh. I am indifferent. Necrophilia is something to frown on since most families don't want it to be legal for people to **** their loved ones' dead corpse, the weirdness aside. But I wouldn't care if it didn't hurt anyone I cared about. Which is the same reason I don't have any particular burial wishes (aside that they wait until I'm dead, of course).

What if you write into your will that your now decomposing corpse is meant to be used as a love doll by a group of slightly "off" men?
