Syria and UN Security Council Decision

Unfortunately Al Jazeera is now under close control of the rulers of Qatar and turned into the mouth piece of the Arab counter-revolution led by the gruesome dictatorship of Saudi Arabia - which unapologetically sent the army to brutally crush the uprising in Bahrain, btw.

I get the impression that you're preparing to incorporate shape-shifting lizards into your fantasy array.

Surely you know Syrian TV is state-controlled and broadcasts only things the regime allows it to? Not to mention its occassional re-broadcasting of its "documentary" based on -- you guessed it -- the "protocols"...

What makes you think CE has any problem with "The Protocols"?

I think most Americans have a primary school level of Spanish, but I do find it comical that one has to be an 'insider' to be privvy to basic Spanish vocab.

Guess Childlike Empress went off to the CT part of this forum b/c she's getting too much flak with these comical fantasy articles that keep getting posted here...

Syria: Armed gangs of mercenaries kill Christians

The Greek-Melkite Archbishop of the Syrian city of Aleppo, Jean-Clément Jeanbart, fears about the safety of Christians in Syria.

“There were more security in former times, but currently all Christians, who are able to afford it, are leaving the country”, the archbishop of Aleppo said in an interview with the Catholic News Agency apic.

Equally true is, however, “that just very few Syrians want an abrupt change to that could cause a bloodbath and a dangerous vacuum order.” [...]

Face it folks, I know it's hard to accept, but this is the situation. You cheer Al-Qaeda type scum of humanity now because the media deceives you in the interest of imperialism. There is genuine demand for reforms and the current regime is nothing to be in any way euphoric about, but far better than the horror that is inflicted on the people of Syria now, after it already took over Libya. This is not "Freedom".

And before you complain about the source - I checked if the interview with the bishop is genuine (it is), and while I did so I found this report and plead for help from the ground which is as innocent and trustworthy as imaginable, from the little website of the Syrian Monastery of St. James the Mutilated in Qara:

Mother Agnes Mariam of the Cross said:
This winter season, Syria, the land where we serve the body of Christ, is suffering tragic events. Beyond the confusion portrayed by the media, the politics, and the rumble of weapons that is getting louder and louder, there are the civilians living here, the men, women, children, and the elderly that God has created in his image and likeness. These innocents, in their anguish and hunger, are paying the price of their blood. Isn’t it true that the poor people are always the first victims of the madness created by people with great power and wealth?

In search of a first-hand account of this situation I recently visited the city of Homs with the Catholic centers of information. I have been stirred to the deepest core of my conscience by the tragedy endured by the civil population there, principally the Christians. The Christian quarter of Homs is concentrated in the central part of the city where they are totally surrounded by “free armed groups” that no one until now has been able to identify. These groups are constantly imposing a kind of martial law, using gunfire to cut the city into sectarian quarters and even targeting government employees, such as public school teachers. At the same time craftsmen and vendors have become victims if they do not obey the strikes and curfews imposed by the armed groups who aim to paralyze the social life of Homs.

By the way, an Israeli newscaster's quip, a few days ago, to his co-anchor, after both presented a video of the Russian foreign minister's visit to Assad: "after Assad is hanged in the town square, I've got dibs on his furniture".

'Russia: West Arming Syrian Rebels
Warns of 'Drastic Measures' Over Meddling
'

"""Ryabkov also condemned NATO and the Arab League for attempting to use the UN Security Council to facilitate a regime change in Syria, saying the council was “not a tool for intervention in internal affairs” and threatening “drastic measures” if the policy continues."""

You forgot these parts:

"Though there is as of yet no solid proof of any nation arming any rebel factions[...]"

"Still, while we can’t prove that arms are flowing yet[...]"

Russia, working tirelessly to stem the black market arms trade.

As usual, the far-left "freedom fighters" are supporting the murderous dictator, in Syria this time. Well, that's nothing new -- they also supported Stalin, Castro, Saddam Hussein, and now they support Al Quaeda, the Taliban, Iran, etc.

Now, there is a significant point of worry -- namely, the fear that if Assad falls there will be an Islamic bloodbath. In this I actually agree with Childlike Empress' worry.

But the far-left folks like her are just about the worst possible people in the world to raise this concern, since they themselves repeatedly tell us Islam is the religion of peace, all worries about Islamist violence or takeover is "Islamophobia", that blowing up the twin towers or Israeli school buses so as to kill as many infidels as possible are brave acts of "resistance", and so on.

I don't think, in other words, that Childlike Empress REALLY gives an airborne sexual act about who kills whom in Syria -- whether the Islamists or the dictator win the butchery contest (the big problem with the Arab world is that those are, in effect, its only two options). She will simply automatically support whomever the west is against.

But what does this mean? Let us think. The west now wants to topple Assad so as to stop him from butchering his people. This, indeed, might give rise to an Islamist government which will ALSO butcher its people. This is why I think the west is suspicious of toppling Assad straightaway (as it should be). But if worse comes to worst, the west will then try to topple the Islamist government. Is there the slightest doubt that if that happens, the far left will be FOR the Islamist murderers in an instant, just like it is now for the dictatorial murderer?

The west might be inconsistent in whom it supports, but is consistent in its goal of trying to stop mass murder. Its inconsistency of support is the result of having to choose the best of a very bad lot -- Arab / Muslim political leaders, almost invariably (with some noted exceptions, such as Jordan's king Abdullah) murderous thugs, or at least autocratic despots.

The far left is inconsistent in only one thing -- hatred of the west (not enough to LEAVE the west, of course; it's all THEORETICAL hatred, one that is perfectly consistent with continuing to enjoy the west's freedoms and amneties), and, thus, unthinking support of the worst dictators on the planet. Their banners should read, not "for human rights", but "for genocide", as this is what those they support inevitably engage in.
