Syria and UN Security Council Decision

Status
Not open for further replies.
All the players are aware of the situation (generally and specifically in regards to Syria). A multinational proposal for a win-win security framework was presented this weekend in Munich. I can't vouch for its measures by now, because I haven't studied it yet, but it's one in a long line of such proposals ignored by the declining US empire, and as such it is worth mentioning, given that you'll not hear about it on CNN.

Tell me, who exactly is bombarding Homs right now?

Tell me, who exactly is bombarding Homs right now?

The Syrian government has denied bombarding Homs and says "terrorist gangs" are responsible for the deaths. Syrian officials say some of the bodies had been kidnapped by opposition elements who had killed them in an attempt to persuade Syria's allies, Russia and China, to move against them in the UN security council.

Most likely they are right and those atrocities are commited by the mercenary thugs operating out of Turkey, financed by Saudi Arabia and trained by western "intelligence" agencies. Like the french journalist who was murdered by those thugs according to the Arab League report linked above.

Tell me why the Syrian government should do this while most of the population is on their side and the country is on the "international" axis of evil list?

Of course you immediately swallow the Assad excuse. The famous unnamed terrorists.

What would be your evidence?

I asked you earlier for evidence for the horror stories you parrot. Go to the ground, tell me where they got it from. Give me the register numbers of the incubators those babies were thrown out from.

It works time and time again with the gullible masses, it is so disgusting. And the next Karzai is laughing all the way to the bank in Paris.

Yeah right. Turkey, the Saudis and the West did it.

Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds?

I asked you earlier for evidence for the horror stories you parrot.

And I told you to contact Amnesty International. This is where I got my information from.

Now answer my question. How do you know those unnamed gangs of "terrorists" are the ones bombarding Homs?

You said so yourself:

Who tells you what for which reason and where is the evidence.

I have no reason to doubt Amnesty International, since they are non-profit and apolitical.

You on the other hand seem to base your beliefs on reports by Pepe Escobar, a known anti-Capitalist propagandist and conspiracy theorist, and the Assad regime itself. Not what I would call the most unbiased sources.

I don't think it sounds stupid to think that arms may be coming in from Turkey and supplied by other governments such as the Saudis.

But it seems in keeping with pro-Assad groups to believe that the demonstrations and the crackdowns are completely fabricated.

Childlike Empress, are you saying that all the violence comes from "dissidents", foreign mercenaries, Western intelligence services...etc...?

Are these groups simply fighting among themselves while the Syrian government watches?

I would seriously be interested in knowing what your take is on this because I don't claim to know what's going on there and want to see what the actual claims and counterclaims are. They seem to keep shifting, however.

Assad has claimed, has he not, that the demonstrations are not demonstrations but al-Qaeda-type terrorists in league with, presumably, Zionists or something. That Western governments, Kurds, Turks and Saudis are trying to create a bloodbath.

Whereas the dissident groups claim that there are large-scale defections from the Syrian army which have formed a Free Syria Army.

Do you consider the Free Syria Army a terrorist group?

Do you dismiss all dissidents as trouble makers and not to be trusted?

(You should bear in mind that lots of leftist fellow travellers of the Soviet Union liked nothing better than to put the boot into dissidents who, along with the fellow travellers, didn't want to live under Soviet rule.)

She only has to answer the question.

She made a claim, let's see her back it up with evidence.

Am I missing something?
The billions in weapons sales to Syria.

Russia is apparently the worlds 2nd largest exporter, Syria is on the top 5 list of recipients for these exports (from Migs to the most recent ss-26 Iskander ballistic missiles), Russia has a naval base in Syria, etc.

Russia Counts on Syrias Assad for Record Year in Weapons Exports

The Threat from Russia

Russian SS-26 missile in Syria seen shifting Mideast balance of power

(Not sure about the last link, but the ss-26 sale has been covered in other media as well as a number of other anti-ship missile sales to Syria by Russia)

The Chinese do export to Syria as well, but not in such significant numbers. On a sidenote, the Chinese and Russians enjoy messing around with what is called the Qualitative Military Edge in the weapons industry in a number of regions, like the ME, Near east, Asia, and Africa). With places like India, the Russians sell billions there because of India's paranoia of China and their exports to surrounding countries.

The Russians already lost billions when Libya's regime fell, so I don't think Russia wants a repeat of this.

Take the second link if unfounded ad hominem nonsense by a guy who changed his avatar because of the mass-murderer Anders Breivik impresses you.
Guess you missed this one about the Arab League monitors:

Arab League monitor resigns in disgust
Mr Malek, a Tunisian connected with the Paris-based Arab Committee for Human Rights, said he had spent 15 days in Homs where he “saw scenes of horror, burnt bodies, snipers everywhere shooting at civilians . . . What I saw was a humanitarian disaster.”

The regime is “committing a series of crimes against its people”, he said.

Instead of aiding the monitors, the authorities “were trying to deceive us and steer us away from what was really happening. They didn’t withdraw their tanks from the streets; they just hid them and redeployed them after we left.”

or this one:

Ex-Arab League monitor labels Syria mission 'a farce'
Anwar Malek told al-Jazeera TV that he had resigned because of what he had witnessed in Syria, including war crimes committed by security forces.

He said the government had "fabricated" most of what the monitors had seen to stop the Arab League taking action.
...
"The snipers are everywhere shooting at civilians. People are being kidnapped. Prisoners are being tortured and none were released."

"Some on our team preferred to maintain good relations with the regime and denied that there were snipers," he added.

Mr Malek said he had resigned because what he had seen, and asserted that the observer mission had fallen apart.

"The mission was a farce and the observers have been fooled," he added. "The regime orchestrated it and fabricated most of what we saw to stop the Arab League from taking action against the regime."

He said that security forces had not withdrawn their tanks from the streets - as mandated by the Arab League peace initiative - but had just hidden them and then brought them back out after the observers had left.

He also said imprisoned protesters who were shown by state television being freed last month as part of an amnesty were actually people who had been detained at random four or five days earlier.

Bolding mine.

Who do you think taught Hezbollah to control the media in Lebanon? The Syrian regime.

My question is, why would this GCC report be taken seriously at all?

Based on the experience of the last years
You're a truther who thinks the news media is covering up for the real people behind 9/11 (Like Bush and Larry Silverstein) and blames innocent bystanders like Osama bin Laden and 19 "innocent" Arab passengers.

You are so immunized against reality no evidence or facts can bring you down to this universe again.

Which is as obvious as off-topic.
Not when used to illustrate how far your distrust of the news media actually goes. And it was you who is claiming a global news media coverup of, well, just about everything in this very thread. Even Amnesty International is involved in the conspiracy!
