You do understand that there aren't any other languages than American English, or as I like to call it "English". Everything else is a sham put on for the benefit of American Tourists so it feels like they've gone to a foreign country. For that, I say "thank you". It's an amazing feat to keep up that charade all this time.*

*Some of this is not totally serious.**

Wait till you get to "Litotes 451." I think you'll really enjoy..... holy crap! "Litotes" sounds suspiciously foreign, doesn't it? Never mind. You don't want too much education anyway. Rots your brain.

Rumplestrumpf, m'lady.

And I bring this to thy notice only that by such a bold (on my part) measure might I show that even eyes as bless'd as thine might sometimes misconstrue, and thus an error promulgate.

And Repelsteeltje

Beth dafodiaith ydy hon?

OCaptain may at this very moment be receiving instructions from the vatican.

...Forgetting for the moment that today we know with certainty that a corpse doesn't come back to life except in the movies.

So you believe there is no way for a cell that died to come back to life. That seems odd because science believes something that was never alive can become alive. It would seem it would be likely that something that was alive once and then died could come back to life easier then something that was never alive to become alive.

There you go again. Are you claiming that Jesus was a single-celled organism? Don't you also believe that things were never alive can become alive? Where did you come from? Do you have the first idea about biology?

Argumentum ad so.

Not a complex organism such as a human being.

It would seem it would be likely that something that was alive once and then died could come back to life easier then something that was never alive to become alive.

No, it would not. Please explain the research you undertook which led you to this conclusion.

a dead cell coming back to life = A
abiogenesis from prebiotic material = B
Your argument is
Since you don't believe A, you must also not believe B.

This is false as A and B are two entirely different things.
The conditions required for the emergence of life is likely extremely different than a dead cell.

Further, Science doesn't "Believe" that life emereged from Non life.
It KNOWS it had to.

Just as you KNOW it had to.

Life didn't exist 5 billion years ago. But it exists now. So you and I both KNOW it had to have happened.
Our key difference is mechanism.
You believe it was magic.
I believe it was a natural process.

This is like saying it would be easier to make coffee from urine than from coffee beans.

1) "Something" is not the same thing as a "cell".
2) Science does not believe anything. Science is a process, not a conclusion.
3) There is nothing "odd" about abiogenesis.
4) These is something odd about your reasoning processes.

ETA: Oops, looks like joobz is ahead of me.

What frightens me is that DOC is going to pass this nonsense onto his kids.

There really ought to be a law against that.
:(

DOC, why did you become an atheist?

DOC, why did you become an atheist?

I watched Religious for two days ago. Not a good movie. Fairly silly and ill conceived. but there was this scene.

It reminds me of DOC's claim of being an atheist.
I'm sure both DOC and this man had been previously less religious than they are now. And just like game winning High school Football stories, as time grows, the fantastical nature of their "prodigal years" grows as well.

I think DOC may have picked this idea up from here:
So let’s start with a single cell that is alive. If we kill that cell evolution states that given enough time that cell will eventually evolve alive again because all the pieces have already come together, no primordial soup needed. Obviously an event of this kind had to of taken place to bring the non-living alive. There has to be a repeatable testable mechanism for this occurrence. This could never be tested, of course, so we have to take it on faith, which is not science.

The "So..." of course, is something he's had for a while.

Shame some people don't recognise it as child abuse :(

A single cell after many hundreds of thousands of years became a multiple cell able to commence digestion to use the simple term. From there it was a continuous evolution to the many various life forms in existence today. Nowhere in this is a god neccecery.

Science believes?

Science does not believe. Science proves with peer reviewed experiments.

That's just freaking stupid. How are you going to get even one nail into an amoeba let alone four?
