TAM 2012 Las Vegas

Just started thinking that I want to get my room early this year. Saw Tim's post and see that the sale is already over. If it happens again, make a lot of noise!

I researched prices. The really cheap sales were blacked out during TAM. The hotel is wising up.

I saw this too. You could book days either side of the TAM weekend, but not for the main days. Bummer.

At first we thought that they were sold out for the weekend so we booked somewhere else before they sold out too. Realizing what was going on, we canceled that one booked a regular cost room. I'm still going to check the sales from here on just in case we can get a lower price, but we already have one just in case.

So, when are we going to start planning fun get-togethers that I can make ridiculous suggestions for?

Did you try to put in the promo code and then get told that there were no rooms available for the dates you wanted? That just happened to me and for a second my heart dropped. Then when I removed the promo code, it offered a long list of available rooms. The lowest rate available, by the way, was $99/night for a standard king.

The raised rates are going to put a kink in my plans to arrive a day early this year (coming in Thursday afternoon always makes me feel like I'm missing out on half of the good stuff, and I never get to hang out enough with all of you lovely people before having to leave Sunday morning). But three nights is better than no nights, so my room is booked.

Come in Wed and leave Monday. That's what the cool kids do! ;)

You have 6 months to save your pennies for the extra two nights. :)

Grr. If only airfare were not so expensive.

Hmm. My tax returns should nearly cover that, though. But then there's the somewhat inflated room prices... I could scrape together that money without too much trouble though. Then I need some money to eat and such...

Think, Leonard, think...

You could always look for a roommate and split the hotel cost.

Age range is very broad. It is mostly young adults, 30ish or younger. However, there is no shortage of 40+ or 60+ attendees, either.

And, yes, there are a few groups of teens tossed in, as well.

This is, basically, the largest international skeptic's conference, so you can expect a broad range of peoples, who would be interested in skepticism, from all sorts of places around the world.

I'll have to attend one TAM some day. Like when I have an income.

If it ever gets hosted in London again (or somewhere else nearby), it certainly increases the chances.

Hey what's the possbilities of a TAM in Stockholm?:D

I work for the mayor, and this is election year. Either I'll be deeply busy in the office, holding the fort, or I'll be pretty much free as a bird, if very little to do (after all, he won't be here most of the time, and the term is nearly over anyway). So I really don't know. I'd LOVE to, after all, I went to TAM 1, so this will be a significant event to me.

And, also, the cost. Airfare alone costs US$1,700. Plus everything else, including some shopping (inevitable, folks, things in the US are so much cheaper than here), it's 3,000 already, for 4 or 5 days. Kinda steep.

Scholarships and personal appeals. Get 10-15 people to gift you $10-20 bucks and that should put at least a dent in your airfare costs.

I too was at TAM and would like to see number 10. We'll see come March if it will be possible.
